1. "The ladies handled it, straightened him out..." - Really? I personally do not think that he even read the post in the "Cybersex" thread. I am also confident he did not stop when the post occurred. Therefore "handled" might be a loose word, and "straightened him out" certainly does not apply.

2. "For you to bring it to another thread..." - The thread that it was brought to was in direct conversation for the action in which he was participating. It fit the point in which was trying to be made. Unfortunately for him (if you really want to look at it that way), he was the first guilty party, and used as an example.

3. "I can't imagine why you think embarrassing someone served any practical purpose" - You are absolutely correct! I do not feel embarrassing anyone serves any practical purpose; however it is a way of life on this site. I'm guilty, and you are guilty. Let me unconfuse both of you -- though, such a momentous task should be undertaken by someone much more qualified than me. The clarification you requested ----

Clearly, the site administrator can do that -- however, the only weapon at her disposal is banning from the site. Why? Because the "time out" approach penalized all of us -- not just the person on whom it was inflicted. That is explained in the other thread, and I see no reason to go into it again.

Shiane offered a very sensible alternative --- peer pressure. If a guy got out of line, and wouldn't stop harassing one of the ladies, she suggested that a couple of the guys speak to him and tell him that isn't appropriate behavior. In most cases, the violator is a newbie who doesn't understand the nuances of the culture here. Generally, once the guy understands it is unacceptable behavior, then he would mend his ways. For those who STILL didn't stop harassing one of the ladies, THEN Penny can invoke the death penalty and ban the guy from the site.

The posse concept that you so lovingly play with was merely a joke about the words that Shiane used. It was humor. I told Shiane that if she, or any of the ladies, wished to have one of the guys explain how it works, that I would be willing to do that. Seemed like the gentlemanly thing to do -- and frankly, it keeps these little bullshit issues from escalating into major conflagrations that we seem to be so fond of. In addition, it helps to prevent all the guys from being painted with the same brush.

If Raul has not stopped his actions, then the next logical step would be for one of us guys to tell him to cut the shit out before he ruins it for all of us. If, then, he still does it -- he should be banned. It is the concept of self-policing.

But, to ridicule a guy because of one mistake, and maybe even an honest one because he didn't act any different than guys act on MOST chat sites, only accomplishes two things -- first, it upsets him and we lose a potential member, and two, it paints him with the stench of trouble, and he will never be able to get rid of it.

Let me unconfuse both of you -- though, such a momentous task should be undertaken by someone much more qualified than me. The clarification you requested ----

I absolutely did spend time "pontificating" that these ladies are adults, and should protect themselves -- not only did I pontificate, I preached, I speechified, and I ranted and raved, as well. And, I still believe that is the right answer.

I also recognize that there are those individuals who will not listen to what the girls request. In that case, outside intervention would seem to be appropriate. So, the question is --- who does the intervening?

Clearly, the site administrator can do that -- however, the only weapon at her disposal is banning from the site. Why? Because the "time out" approach penalized all of us -- not just the person on whom it was inflicted. That is explained in the other thread, and I see no reason to go into it again.

Shiane offered a very sensible alternative --- peer pressure. If a guy got out of line, and wouldn't stop harassing one of the ladies, she suggested that a couple of the guys speak to him and tell him that isn't appropriate behavior. In most cases, the violator is a newbie who doesn't understand the nuances of the culture here. Generally, once the guy understands it is unacceptable behavior, then he would mend his ways. For those who STILL didn't stop harassing one of the ladies, THEN Penny can invoke the death penalty and ban the guy from the site.

The posse concept that you so lovingly play with was merely a joke about the words that Shiane used. It was humor. I told Shiane that if she, or any of the ladies, wished to have one of the guys explain how it works, that I would be willing to do that. Seemed like the gentlemanly thing to do -- and frankly, it keeps these little bullshit issues from escalating into major conflagrations that we seem to be so fond of. In addition, it helps to prevent all the guys from being painted with the same brush.

If Raul has not stopped his actions, then the next logical step would be for one of us guys to tell him to cut the shit out before he ruins it for all of us. If, then, he still does it -- he should be banned. It is the concept of self-policing.

But, to ridicule a guy because of one mistake, and maybe even an honest one because he didn't act any different than guys act on MOST chat sites, only accomplishes two things -- first, it upsets him and we lose a potential member, and two, it paints him with the stench of trouble, and he will never be able to get rid of it.


Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see where anyone requested clarification. I think we can all read your posts for ourselves and frankly it doesn't really matter much whether that issue is clarified or not. When Penny notified us about the change in procedure some people got all upset and posted their objections. No problem with that. Lots of different people here with lots of different opinions. But the only one that matters is that of the site owners. After all the pontificating, it looks like we're right back where it started. Much to do about nothing.

Just like everyone else here, you're entitled to post your opinions and to change them as often as you like..... and others are entitled to agree or not. I interpreted Shiane's proposal as humor and played along with it...... just for the fun of it. This whole issue was silly, but it's fun to be silly once in awhile. After all, that's part of why at least some of us come here.

1. People come and people go and thats a FACT!
2. New people will not stay if they feel the site is full of perverts (unless they are a pervert and thats what they are looking for).
3. If a new person constantly gets bombarded with crap they will leave.
4. If an established member has a legitimate issue with another member who will not stop bothering them they will leave if no one intervenes.
5. There are some people who will not be courtious to others, their whole agenda is about causing problems.
6. People often disagree, theres nothing wrong with disagreeing, but if you want to fight take it somewhere else! The biggest demise of sites like this is fighting, finally someone gets so tired of the bickering and fighting they dismantle the site.
7. "MOST" people don't come to a site like this to hear fussing and fighting all the time, they come to have fun. Eventually they get sick of the shit and leave.
8. Administrators and Owners have real lives outside of the site and they don't always have the time to police it 24/7 and weed out the trouble makers.
9. Sometimes drastic measures have to be taken against one member to restore order for the remaining members.
10. Anytime there is a disagreement, people try to get others to take their side or other people choose sides when if fact they should mind their own damn business this also causes more bickering and fighting.
11. People often don't realize there are real live people on the other side of the screen, names are called, others are condemned for thier opinions or actions regardless of intent. People GET HURT!
12. People don't think about what they say before they say it, or it it taken in a manner that was not intended.

The whole idea behind my suggestion was that if a member old or new had a problem that they could not fix on their own, a designated person (volunteering to give of his/her personal time) would step in and try to reconcile the situation before drastic measures had to be taken. This has absolutely nothing to do with policing everyone, no one should in anyway feel that they can't do or say something for fear of group retaliation or humiliation. The way that the PPP deputy idea was suppose to work was not to bring group humilitation or embarassment to anyone. If a member has a problem with someone who will not stop sending offensive privates messages or emails to them and they have told the offender that he or she is not interested and to stop sending the crap and harassing them. Then and only then would one of the volunteers be notified via private message (NOT IN PUBLIC) and the volunteer would send the offender an email, private message whatever. The message would let them know that their behavior is not acceptable and a complaint has been made by whoever. They should cease any and all communication with this person or they will be banned or spanked (Whatever Penny decides).

I know Penny is very busy and she can't be here all the time. Honestly I've been here since ummm November and other than Penny I had no idea who I would contact if a problem arose that I could not handle myself. If volunteers men or women would wear a badge/ title what the hell ever, others would know who to contact.

All of this came about from a personal experience. This guy and I won't name names came on way to strong with proposals of cybering and talking trash. I changed my options so he could not see when I was here. He would catch me in the chat room and priavte me with all sorts of crap. He sent me private messages of the same nature. I made myself clear that I was NOT interested in any way, shape form or fashion. It stopped for a while and then started again. I blocked him but I know I'm not the only one he has done this to. Had I been new to the whole online thing I would have left. How many new women has he chased off ???:sc I'm all for fun but not crap like this, I dont come here to be harassed!

I think I found a way to fix the problem anyway without hurting peoples feelings or in anyway affecting the regulars here. New people can no longer see the member list or email other members from the site until they have made the 50 post that they need to make. They also can't see who's online. That way we should be able to tell who is cool and who is not.
Please lets all be friends and not worry about the trolls. The problem I had was I remember how hard it was and still is in a way to get women to post. Most women turn off the email feature because they were getting bothered and that ruins it for others. Let's face it how many of you guys would stick around here if I was the only woman:( The regulars know how to defend themsleves but the newbies are probably sweating at the thought of making their first post. It's harder for women than men to do this.
