Once again California is being devastated by wild fires. Is anyone here affected or does anyone have relatives or friends that are affected?

I'm about 10 miles away, and I know of at least two site members who are closer, though it doesn't seem to be threatening their immediate areas. However, the air quality is horrendous...my kid is stuck home for the 3rd straight day b/c of his asthma (and so we're teetering on the edge of a fatality there!). Good news is that they seem to have made progress overnight and the winds have died down a bit.

To say the air quality is poor is an understatement. I went riding through that area yesterday and it was horrendous! I wish all of you the best!

So many of us live a great distance away and we see the news flashes and stories all the time but when I think about placing myself in or near the wild fires area, I shudder to think of all the lives this has affected now and throughout the past few years at least! No one evere wants to hear of any loss of life for certain and we always hear about all the celebrities homes but their homes are easily replaced whether or not they have any type insurance...it's everyone else's homes that are just as important if not more, because these are the people who for the most part will never be able to replace their homes, especially in the present economy.
Fever and Guy and whoever else ....my prayers are with you and your family and friends and I pray the winds keep you out of harms way!

I have family near the San Fernando Valley (Sylmar Fire). Their houses are not in danger, but it is making it hard to get to work..
