Wow! Deep question Dave.
My family, my job, my friends. So many little things play into the fact that I am the happiest I can imagine.
I guess it really depends on the day. But I know when i come home and I have had a bad run my wife and kids can make it all better by just being there.

family , traveling , good health , fine wine and good food , and to top it off - lay on my back so my honey can orally seduce me followed by her getting on top to finish the job . I just sit back , close my eyes and feel every sensation . This makes me very very happy ! It's not the norm but I do get the grand treat once and a while .

My son told me yesterday he loves me more than anything in the world. Out of the mouths of babes.
Think back to that moment when he is frustrating!
Remember that moment when he makes you angry!
Just remember that when he gets older!
Remember he still loves you, even when he is not being that loveable!
Wise words Walter. I keep a level head when he's up to mischief, but I know it probably won't be that easy as he gets older. But I'll always love him.

Our Little Boy
Do you
Hear,
What is so
Near?
Those happy little
Feet,
Who Never miss
A Beat.
The Happy
Joy,
Of our little
Boy.
Who's silly
Laugh,
Makes us Whole
Not Half.
And Then at
Night,
When He's tucked in
Tight.
Will he ever
Know,
How much
We Love Him
So?

So many of you here who understand the joy and lifelong gift of parenthood! Such heartfelt words! Thanks for the poem Dave. It was so touching.
MC, it's comforting to know that a son's love doesn't ebb with time, only evolves.
And spare, if you'd be willing to tutor him, I'm sure my little boy would be the greatest charmer ever!
If I had to, I would happily chew off my own arm for my son. I had no idea anyone had the capacity to love another this much without disintegrating. When he was born, I felt like I had become part of this special club of the ones who truly understand the meaning of unconditional love. I cherish every second with my boy.

Yes that is the thing, sometimes they will not show the love like they did when little but that does not mean that love is not there. It usually still there but ask kids get older they often do not show it, especially through the teen years.

When life starts catching up with me, and I need to pull myself out of a rut, I find the fastest and easiest way to do this is to focus on those little things that happen throughout the day that often go unnoticed.
Today I stopped and listened to a cardinal who was sitting on the highest branch in the birch tree in our front yard.
This moring my little boy kissed me for no reason and told me that he loves me.
I sat on the couch in the living room this afternoon and had a quick coffee with a dear friend, and the sun was shining in the window on us.
I heard an old favourite on the radio this afternoon.
What are some of the little things that happened today that made you smile and helped you get through the day?

thats awesome sun. i keep my 3 year-old nephew, and i don't care how bad i feel, or how bad my day was. when he looks at me and says i love you, the world is a great place, and everything is good. corny huh ?
Our son is 20, newly married and expecting a baby. They stopped over yesterday so we could see and touch our unborn grandchild. She even let Hank have a little feel of her growing tummy. We are so excited I can't hardly stand it....just to think my baby is going to have a baby. I get all teary just thinking about what good Dad he will be. He takes such good care of his wife, just like Hank takes care of me. We are so proud.
He is beginning to appreciate the same kind of music we like and asked me to download some and make CD's for him.
Those things made my day yesterday...
Oh and also had an unexpected quicky in the early evening.
Ahhhh, a nice end to the day.

This happens everyday and often.... I never knew that a 10 month old baby could show so much unconditional and pure love. My daughter shows me everyday, how much she loves me and appreciates me. She shows it with her wet kisses, hugs, eye contact.... it's just so much that she does. This little girl is my sunshine through the storm, I love her so much!!!

Yesterday I had 5 of my grandkids drop by for a few hours , when they were getting bored and starting trying to rearrange the furniture I sat down and played I SPY WITH MY LITTLE EYE with them . The youngest was priceless 4 yrs old three times in a row she would say I see something that is red all 3 times it was the red vest she had on All the others would guess it right away and she would walk away with the biggest and sweetest smile you can imagine . My Saturday was complete to watch those young minds and the things they would come up with . The nice thing to was they left after 3 hours and I took a nap !!!!!!!!!!!

That feeling will be there through all her years, even when she is mad or doesn't agree with you, the connection will always be there and feel good. I get the same feeling when my adult daughters hug me now as I did thirty some years ago when they were babies, fills you with joy.

It is amazing that those little people can show so much love. I can't wait to hold and love a baby again. Its been so very long.
Make sure you enjoy it, the years fly by so fast. Sometimes I can't remember what it was like when my kids were little, sometimes I feel like I wasn't even there.
Make sure you pay attention to the little things....thats what really important. Not how many bedrooms or bathrooms your house has or how much money you have in your savings account. Its whether you kissed your child goodnight and told them you love them, its what story you read to them at bedtime...thats what they will remember.
I might not remember well , but my kids do.

Believe me it isn't just children, sometimes I can sense when my spouse is really lonely for her kids, so I give her that type of attention, let her feel motherly it really perks her up. We all need that typ of attention no matter how old. But the babies have a corner on the market.

How nice....I bet she enjoys the extra attention. And with that face of yours, you are just irrisistable ;)
I know I love the mother role.....its the best thing I ever did, having kids.

i think it is the sweet and innicence of them that I love so much...they love me no matter what I do!!!!
This morning I had a long, luxurious coffee on the couch, the cat was curled up beside me, purring contentedly, while I read the newpaper. Our couch is right in front of the big picture window in our living room, and faces south, so the sun was streaming in, bathing me in peaceful warmth. A nice way to start my Sunday.

Today I spent the morning doing my volunteer thing in my son's classroom and got to spend the time singing songs with the kids, playing ball at recess and reading them stories. I also helped a little girl write her name.
This evening, I made my son laugh, then smelled his hair as he went to sleep.
Tonight I got to chat with a very dear friend who warmed my heart and brightened my day.

This morning when I woke up, I could hear my 4 year old daughter singing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and then my 2 year old little girl started singing her ABC's. That was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard.
If I didn't have my two beautiful children, I would have no reason to get out of bed and face the world. They are my heart and soul and make life worth living.

Once again, I am floored by the capacity for the members here to flock to anyone here who is struggling, and to shower that person with love, support, advice and clean tissues. You are all so treasured.

It is always difficult to think of the "right" thing to say in difficult times. I often find myself questioning my words so much that I never send along any sentiments at all. Therefore to recieve a kind note expressing gratitude for the inspiration my words gave to one in need of comfort is a gift that truely touches my heart and brightens my day, for the greatest wish I have for my life is that of making anothers journey easier.
This morning I heard an old favourite on the radio while I was driving to work.
This evening I snuggled on the couch and read books to my son.
Tonight I had a nice chat with a dear friend.
And just a few minutes ago, I had some wonderful friends on here ask how my son is doing.
It warms my heart.

That reminds me of my grandfather too GGirl. I spent the summers on his ranch when I was a teenager. When he got older his body began to give out. He became so weak my grandmother had him hospitalized. They fed him intraveineously and he was released a few days later. I went to visit him and was surprised that he was irritated. He was a man of few words, but he made it clear that he was not happy to have been hospitalized and sternly admonished the family for doing it. He immediately began to deteriorate again and my grandmother was frustrated because he refused to eat. I visited him and tried to convince him to eat. He was so weak he could hardly speak, but he told me... "I am not eating because I'm ready to die. Don't be sad. I'm not. I've lived a long and full life and now it's time for me to go. I'm looking forward to getting to heaven and I have no doubt that is where I'll soon be."
He passed away the next morning. I still think of him often and always will.

I am not sure I actually would regret anything, Since my open heart surgery, in fact for some strange reason since just before it, I have not been afraid to die, I have treated every day as it is my last, I only live for today. Everyone noticed and likes the change and I feel it has made me a better person.

I went to a B Day party with my 5 year old , and it was his first . And I had a headache most of the Day and just was not wanting to go . Well we got there and We had a Blast , He was so happy and laughing and playing . It was the best time. But the best part , the part that took that Headache away was, When we got out of the car , I said to myself outloud, I feel like Crap . He in turned said , I am So excited . <smile> lol
I loved him for that !!!
I had to remember who I was going to this Party for !!
What a devoted mom you are, Peach, and brave too!! Yikes! Going to a five year old's party with a headache?!? That's enough to make your head blow right off! I'm glad you had a great time!!
I took my son to see hubby play in a charity hockey tournament -ex-pros and semi-pros- and he was riveted watching his daddy play. I couldn't take my eyes off his face, he was so entranced!
Then daddy's team won the whole thing, and he won mvp, and came to the bench and picked up our son, and skated around the ice holding him in his arms. I thought our little guy was going to blow a gasket!! He was in heaven!!
Regardless of our problems, hubby is a devoted dad and his love for his son shines through, especially in times like that! I'm glad I took my camera!

A phone call from a friend who tells me she just wanted to talk because she was thinking of me. It's always nice to know that you're thought of daily by those you care about.

I wonder if we could all somehow exchange numbers and if one is feeling down just ring the other to say Hello, and even me in the UK Im prepared to pool our numbers, let me know what you all think, it would be nice to simply pick up the phone and say " Hello how are you today":wa:

having the baby wake up first thing this morning coming to me, wraps his little arms around my neck, and saying i love you. there is nothing in the worldto compare that to.
Despite being sick, I had a fantastic class this morning, because the members are all so cheerful and appreciative. I love my job.
This afternoon we got a few families together at the local school, and played ball hockey. There were about 7 parents and a whole slew of kids aged four and under. We had a blast! Then we pooled our snacks and drinks and ended up having a pretty impressive impromptu picnic.
At one point I just laid back and let the sun warm my face as I gazed up at the clear blue sky and felt so peaceful and content. Then my son reached over, gave me a gentle pat on the shoulder and said "Mommy, I'm so happy".

Little things like when your diet doesn't allow candy and sweets, but when you open a bag of friut you find your mate has dropped a mini mounds bar in it, that puts a smile on your face.

Jazzy you have the sweetest son ever
and what a mom you are.
my brother and the mothers of his 2 kids
could use lessons from you
Thanks GG! I really lucked out when God was handing out children, that's for sure!
We had a wonderful bike ride today, the first one of the year. He sits in a seat that's mounted over the back wheel, and we rode 15 miles out to the best park in the city where he played non-stop for 2 and a half hours! It was a perfect end to a great weekend!

Would You Like To Give Them Lessons?
It's So Needed
Or I'm Going To Tke Her From Him
I saw a robin in our birdfeed today.
One of the members at the gym wrote a note to the owners praising my class.
I got home before it started snowing.
My son and I shared a really good belly laugh as we read his bedtime stories together.

Wow! Thanks for the high praise GG! I'd be happy to help you out, but I don't feel I'm the one to be offering parenting advice. My little guy is only four, so I've haven't had as much experience at it as some of the members here. I'm flattered that you asked though!
I'm proud of yo for taking an interest in your niece's upbringing. She's lucky to have an aunt like you.
And, you've given me an idea for a new thread...
