I ran one 5k race this year and average 7:50 per mile. I run a lot but most of the miles are on a threadmill. I think running with a good partner would be a lot of fun.

after years of forced running in the form of conditioning for sports the only time I run now is if something bigger and meaner than me is chasing me.

Neither a jogger or a runner. Was a brisk walker. So brisk some thought I was joking...lol

I am really more of a cyclist than I am a runner, but it seems like I can get a better workout in a shorter time running. I hate the cold so I end up running more inside on a threadmill more than running outside. I really need to set some running goals for next year.

Dylan do you find that you run at a quicker pace when you run with someone else?

Yes, I am an avid runner--30-40 miles a week. I am running my first half-marathon in the morning!
Running with someone is more of a motivator than running alone, but I don't always have that option.

How did the half-marathon go? Sounds like you really put the miles in.

Are you running mostly outdoors or indoors? I have found it to be a great workout for the heart rate, maybe not so great for the knees.

I only run because my dogs love to but I wish I liked it more. I much prefer lifting weights, pilates or yoga.

Dogs really love to run, I have a Jack Russell that can't get enough.

Ever do spin classes? I did one of those this morning it was a good work out. I do some weight training but I can't say I like doing it that much, I need to try pilates.

I've been running off and on since I was 11. Trained for a marathon 2 years ago but injured myself on my last long run before the race. I had to drop out of the marathon at 3 miles. I was in shape enough to qualify for Boston. Since then I haven't been running much, but I'm trying to get back into it. I also gained 40 lbs since then.

The half-marathon went well! It was hard, but I did it. I finished in 2:15:37. Not bad for my first one.

I survived Turkey Trot, 5-K in the cold for 28 min, and damn was I thirsty for brews after that one so had to put away a few on the Holiday! Need to find another one on the calendar.

congrats quietlylooking!! def should be very proud!

i have done a few marathons over the years but dont think I could do a full now without some serious pavement pounding 2 get ready...fitness has always been a part of my life..soccer tennis swimming and workingout..def benifits including the rush..but sometimes have to push yourself even when not motivated or damn cold..best if can find a partner 2 get u moving..always better in pairs or paris..lol

I ran (well, jogged actually) a half marathon once. I was pleased with my finishing time, especially since I had never run for more than an hour before that (or after).

That's about the extent of my athleticism (is pinball a sport?)...

Running is cathartic for me. I don't wear a watch or ipod when I run. Just me, the pounding of the pavement, breathing and the thoughts in my head. I've run a couple marathons. Training distances for the marathon, though, wear on you. So, I'm trying to switch over to triathlons to get a little more variety. My main problem right now is the little ankle biters don't seem to be getting the memo concerning Daddy and sleeping. I'd like to get an Ironman under my belt by the time I'm 40, at least that's the goal. This year, though, I'm simply shooting for an Olympic length event.

And one more thing. One of the most useful talents when running is the farmer's blow. A well executed farmer's blow allows you to breath better. A not so well executed one adds flair to your shirt.

I WAS a jogger for many months and managed to lose a bunch of weight that way. But since the weather here is -26 C (which is about -14F for all my american friends)...I just can't muster up any motivation to go out and do it. I know, I know, excuses excuses. Yesterday I drove past a pack of runners and thought to myself "someone's trying to send me a message!!"...then I yelled at them (with my windows up of course so they couldn't hear me) that THEY WERE INSANE!!! This weather freezes any moisture instantly. So first my eyes would water from the cold and wind...so they would turn to icicles....then I know this is gross..but my nose would run too...not too pretty. THEN any sweat that I have...well, I don't feel like being an ice sculpture when I get home. I'll wait until it warms up to at least 0 degrees thanks!!

I have been running on and off my whole life. Did quite a bit in high school, then slacked for many years. I have been bike riding in the summer, and have been doing the treadmill for the last several months. I'm probably in the best shape I've been in years. I hope to stick with it.

I run at least 3 miles a day...now that it's cold..on the treadmill...but it really will help with anger issues...lol

I run in the spring through fall. Right now it's just the treadmill in the gym until the ice is off the walks. This summer I plan to run more and quit smoking.

I used to run 5 miles a day... got out of practice so I stopped. I'm gonna start again soon though.

Soon. Probably not today. Or tomorrow.

I'm hoping to run the Boston Marathon in 2010. So I'm hoping to run the Bay State Marathon in October of this year. I'll have to run under 3:20 to qualify which is a 7:38 pace...I know that's going to be difficult, but I'm only getting older so it's not going ot get any easier later in life.

Yes the issue is being consistent, to increasing mileage too fast, stretching and eating right.

And it's hard to do, my problem is when things get busy, I'll put running aside and concentrate on whatever crisis has arisen. Then I'll feel like I've be slacking off running and try to make up the mileage and injure myself.

The past two months I have been jogging almost everyday, just over a mile. I feel great!!! Next week I'm going for 2 miles...

I've never been one to jog or run in the past... but lately I'm enjoying it :-)

I love to run, but have only recently started doing some races again.

I ran my first half-marathon in 10yrs 6 weeks ago in 1:41. I have another next weekend - running through beautiful autumnal vineyards on the shores of a lake.

I also will not be having the customary New years drinks this year. For some unknown reason I signed up for a half-marathon starting at 0010 on the 1st of january. I think it is time to buy snow chains for my running shoes :sc

I don't jog or run yet, but I walk 3 to 5 miles per day. I hope to work that up to a jog then maybe run.
