There is a new Supermarket in Vancouver that tries to use all of your senses when you shop.

It has an automatic water administer to keep the produce fresh. Just before it goes on, you hear the sound of distant thunder and smell of fresh rain.

When you approach the milk case, your hear cows mooing and witness the scent of fresh hay.

When you approach the egg case, you hear hens cluck and the air is filled with the pleasing aroma of bacon and eggs frying.

The veggie and fruit department features the smell of fresh buttered corn and hot apple pie.

I do not buy toilet paper there any more….:yks

I think I'd check it out for the experience, but I don't think it'd be my thing. I don't need to be entertained at the market...it all smacks of manipulation.

I expect truth in advertising. I want to hear farm machinery in the produce section and perhaps the sounds of migrant workers. I should smell blood in the meat department and the floor should be a little slippery. I think we can all agree that the toiletries isle is better experienced than described.

But seriously, is it all that difficult to believe that it wouldn't be tried? I was at a conference in lovely Reno and we went to a restaurant very much like the Rainforest Cafe. I think all of the external stimulus is supposed to distract you from the low quality fare.

No!! There really is except for the bacon smell....we were in Alabama... or maybe Tenn. ,but they have this grocery store...it starts with a K...but it moo'ed when you got your milk, it did the thunderstorm sound when it wet the veggies..lol...so there is one kinda like it..

No, I wasn't kidding! They really did this here! It was Kroger.

They even had a big pirate over the seafood section. It was kind of silly, but somewhat entertaining. The really cool one was a big fake tree in the pet section.

And yeah, Rainforest is WAY cool.
