Drugs honey, drugs! Actually I am using Zyban. It really does help, it takes away addiction, but leaves the habit if that makes sense. I have a stong desire, but not the "I gotta have it NOW or else" feeling. That and Skittles.

Yeah...I know the feeling, I've used the patch and it actually works for the physical addiction, but then when I have a drink or a cup of coffee or just share with friends I used to smoke with, then is when it gets hard...

Annie, how long were you on Zyban before you noticed the strong desire going away for smoking?

I guess it was about a week before they started tasting a little different and by the time I was on it for two weeks I really noticed a difference. There's no way I could have gone this long without it. It really does help a whole lot! By the way, I use the generic. It's actually the same as Welbutrin, it's called bupropion.

I couldn't go cold turkey. The habit was just too great. I started when I was 11, so I had been smoking for 37 years! About 2 weeks after I started on the meds, I cut back from a pack a day to 5 a day and went off brand... from Marlboro Menthol to Marlboro Light, YUCK! That was a big help too. They were awful! About a week later I cut back to 4 and so on. You can do this, you just need to find the way that's best for you! Please don't give up on it!

I quit 5 1/2 years ago.

Cold turkey, I was highly motivated though. A co-worker callapsed at work, thank goodness he was ok, but after seeing that it scared that crap out of me. I finally realized how fragile life really is. I never touched a cigerette again and really never craved them either.

I went to a weekend conference with my wife. We checked early and thought we'd get a early start to a good weekend without kids along.
