Because our site has developed the reputation of the chatroom being an easy place to get cybersex by just asking!
The site has not always had that reputation.
Just my not so humble and observed opinion!:spbx:
There are still a few of us gentleman in the world. Despite the fact that some young bucks (stated this in the chatroom) think that being a true gentleman and treating ladies with respect and dignity, only works on stupid women!

Some of the newbies only hang out in the chat room, they don't visit the forums, they don't post, they don't read the posts and they don't get to know us. They don't read the rules of the site. As long as we chat its going to happen...complaining doesn't make it stop.
A helpful hint : when they pm you in the chat room, just minimize the window, don't answer them and you won't see all the pop ups.
P.S. Some of the men that claim to be the gentlemen and established members of the site, were themselves once the over eager pm'ers in the chat room. And its not only men who pm in the chat room...we also have some over eager females out there.

Some cant keep up with the flow of the conversation in the main room..they are not all bad or have sinister motives and sometimes the questions they ask you may not want to tell the masses.

I don't think there is anything wrong with private chats, sometimes its fun to meet someone and get to know them a bit more that way. What I dislike is the insistance some have towards cyber, not taking "no" for an answer. When that happens, i kinda use the main room to let the rest of the girls know, and some guys will take a stand and make them understand.
If you like the chat room, don't let that detter you from it. Just learn to maneuver and you'll be having your fun with less of the annoyance!

If I pm a newbie, it is for the same reason. I know what you are saying as I have been hit on by both women and men, some women have been downright vulgar in there opening line so it goes both ways.
As stated above, don't let these types deter you from enjoying yourself here, those guys don't stick around long. Get to know us, there are some truley honest and great people here.

The key is being polite. Just say you'd rather chat in the room. If they keep bugging you either put them on ignore or let the room know. There are quite alot of nice guys who for whatever reason do like to pm but those guys understand if you say no.

Ok ... I wouldn't normally do this (as it's a waste of my time and effort) but since your comment was about a about me and is a gross misrepresentation of what was stated I will quickly correct you.
First of all I am 100% about being a gentleman, being romantic, respectful, and treating a woman with dignity. Yet I do not equate cliche-ish romantic lines of disingenuous perpetual flattery as respect or romance. It is a disgraceful representation to compare it to romance as it doesn't amount to much more than diarrhea of the mouth.
Being gentleman is not shown through perpetual flattery in a chat room. It is shown in the way you engage a woman at all times not just in a public forum to garner their attention through attempts to display your greater intellect or indepth knowledge of a woman. It show in private when you show real concern and respect for a woman, not spew the cliche lines that you believe a woman likes to hear.
Romance is not about what garbage you can feed a woman but again shown though actions. Small details that shows that she is in your thoughts. Listening when she needs an ear to to vent to. Holding her when she is in need of affection. Putting them before yourself....
All these things are much deeper than anything that can be shown here.

I think there are certain guys who are in there to just chat and socialize... not necessarily looking for anything except conversation.
Then there are those who are waiting to pounce on the next female to "walk in". They aren't there for anything more than cyber-sex... if you look at their profiles, these usually seem to be the ones who have never once posted but are still members. :ok

I'm not a big fan of the chatroom because I don't like being treated like a whore. They are not always newbies btw....but alot of them do seem to be young I've noticed.
I do enjoy pm'ing for the simple fact that it's a more private way to get to know someone as opposed to the main chat. It's hard to come in and join a conversation already in progress and I sometimes find it hard to follow the conversation.
With that being said...I don't mind someone pm'ing me if they would like to get to know me. I DO mind if all they are looking for is sex!

Sometimes i click in by accident only to leave immediately, i'm still learning it all and i know that it will come to me in time...all the different lingo that is....and also what is "PM"? how do you do "YM" or "PM"...thank you. :lf

YM = Yahoo Messenger
PM = Private Message
PM's in the forums you can do once you reach 500 posts.. but in the chat room you can Private Message right away.. it is a little window that pops up on your screen and you can talk one on one with someone and not share with the whole room..

I've had several PMs with women and they were all (I believe) initiated by them. I think it's because they saw a newbie lurking around and wanted to welcome me and encourage me to jump in.....which I've appreciated. I've had some really nice chats with people through that -- it's been pleasantly suprising.
