I was having this discussion with a friend not long ago. He is in his mid-40s and just plopped down a shit load of cash on a new Porsche. I asked him if he should have just gone some barely legal twins and a weekend in the Bahamas. He said the Porsche is more fun and would last longer. I had to disagree on both counts...I would remember the twins well into my 80s while the car would be a distant memory of a misplaced $100+K. So, my question is, what would you choose for your mid-life crisis?

Mid Life Crisis is in process and I choose not to have a husband anymore. I don't need fancy things I just want a great life and its time. Misery will kill your spirit and soul!

I don't feel I have a choice! So maybe that is why it feels right! Or maybe I am sick of being taken advantage of and cheated on or maybe...........well you get the idea!

It is not easy, but it never is!!!

Twins or Porsche Huh!!! I am with your friend I would have got the Porsche and watched for the twins fighting to see who got in the passenger seat!!!

I have my eye on the event and plan on justifying it with a purchase of a nice big fat Harley and a 2 week road trip to break it in..... Ahhh I can taste the bugs now.

Since I can't afford a Porsche and most people would argue you have to first leave adolescence to reach mid life crisis it's all kind of academic but...

Wow....tougher question than it looks...I mean, I'd rather have the twins than the car, but...then I started thinking about how many sets of twins a 100,000.00 car might net me...and I just don't know the answer.

Great. One more unanswered question in my life.

Being free would be nice, I agree. That and a new bike.

Ok my definition of a mid life crisis:

1. You join a flirting site
2. You post and flirt like hell on wheels
3. You start acting like your old self (before the ball and chain dragged you down)
4. You make lots of new friends
5. You realize you weren't crazy or weird, you're just like a ton of other people out there
6. You try to break your flirting habit, but now it's like crack
7. You start looking at everyone you meet in the RW like they could be someone from said site
8. You start making lists and posting them for other people to read

Or maybe this is just me??

After reading the posts, it sounds like I may have already had my mid-life crisis when I was 24. I got the Porsche, which in itself did not get the twins. After I lost the Porsche and most of the money that went with being able to own one, I had the closest experience to a weekend with twins. They were just really close friends instead. I would agree that I put the memory of the two ladies higher than the car. In the end the car is just a car, and I didn't find that any woman would have sex with me just because of the car. Now I need to figure out what to do for my mid-life crisis now that I am 35 and inching closer and closer. Too bad I blew through all my money like a stupid 25 year old. Maybe for my mid-life crisis I will get back into the stock market.

I totally agree with this....I just don't want a wife any more...sucks not being happy with yourself or your life.

Hmmmm .... I'm not into cars, and believe it or not, casual sex doesn't appeal to me, so the twins are out.

I would probably take a year and travel the world. See the pyramids, the colliseum, Stonehenge, tibetan mountains, Holy Land, etc. Go sailing in the south and see the southern cross. (Verify that water swirls the opposite direction south of the equator.) Maybe even check out Canada! :D

It would be really nice if I could share that year with one woman who was a friend and lover, and would make it extra fun. But I haven't found one who's up for something like that .... YET!
