Are real life events such as death of a spouse or divorcing important for us?Can we change them? Or Can we choose our response to it?

I don't know if you can change them, but you can let them guide you into what you want to change in your life. While holding my father-in-laws hand when he died it made me realize that life is to short and you have to enjoy it while you are healthy enough to go it. When I had an affair last fall it made me realize what I had given up and I am doing several things to change my life to gain some of them back.

The real life events are important, we cannot choose them but we can choose our resonses to them.Epictetus said thousand yeras ago: 'It was our interpretations of events, rather than the events themselves, that affected us.'

No, I find the unreal life events to be of far more importance than the real ones!

Respond I would think, can never change Deathbut your respose can change your interpretation of the event because the interpretation is the determining factor, not the event...
