What will happen in the Mid-Term elections?

(A couple of comments I heard recently that I thought were interesting)

1. Political analyst on MSNBC this week ... don't remember his name: President Bush's approval poll percentage is very low, but don't assume that will necessarily translate into Democratic wins in traditionally Republican areas. Red States may generally tend to continue to be red regardless of how Bush is doing on the national level.

2. Shaun Hannity's interview with political anlayst Dick Morris today on FOXNEWS: The Republicans control the Presidency and both houses of Congress. They have had 3 major opportunities to show leadership in recent months and are not doing well so far. a) They had an opportunity to perform well when hurricane Katrina hit and failed miserably.... missed that boat; b) They can't seem to figure out that the majority of Americans want the border secured before discussion of what to do with those who have already snuck in; c) They need to realize the raise in gas prices is a very serious issue to most Americans and a significant number of people would support fighting terrorism by making a strong financial commitment to investing in alternative fuels to reduce and eventually eliminate our dependence on foreign oil.

Hannity's comment was that the Republican national leadership already missed the opportunity with Katrina and only has a few months to convince the American people they are serious about making measureable progress on (b) and (c) or they will only have themselves to blame if they lose control of the Congress this fall.

Hello ZP seems like Labour wont win the general seats here in the Uk as the NHS is in a crippling position, nurses are losing there jobs, hospitals owe millions, and last night the Home secretary said 288 immigrants of a dangerous nature are lose on Britains streets and havent been deported. The same Home Secretary wants to put 100 most dangerous prisoners in each jail to go into hostels, where they can roam free during the day amonst the population and return at night!...............No labour are taxing us to the hilts and getting rich themselves. I see BNF coming to power for obvious reasons...immigration. The Conservatives wont win because they want to try to stop greenhouse gases ruining the country and the world, its happening as it is and if one country wont help then its a waste of money, so conservative values are set to be shattered.

I think its time for a change. The republicans have had full control for a long time now and have bungled it in my opinion

I heard Bush's approval rating hit a new low and that Fema should be thrown out and something new started. It would be nice if the news could report the whole picture truthfully instead of slanting it the way the owners of the network happen to feel. The media tends to lean toward the liberal anyway so how can you make an informed decision on anything. I wish someone could explain to me what they expected FEMA to do exactly. If you live in a place below sea level where they have hurricanes what do you expect to happen.

New Orleans is one thing atleast they are getting help. The people in Mississipi are still waiting for help. Unless your a casino that needs a railway moved. That money gets slid into a bill that is meant for the troops :(

i wish a strong 3rd party would come along.....dems and reps. are pretty much the same anymore.....

"No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which."
-George Orwell

i think this could apply to the 2 party system we have now.....just add dem, and rep.in place of man and pig....
