Tell us all what that food is that you just cannot live without, the thing you order every time you go into a restaurant that cooks it.

I love breakfast..... although I don't often eat much any more in the mornings.... ham or bacon and eggs. Also I like to cook scrambled eggs with ham, peppers, onion, mixed in when the boys come over on fall weekends to watch football.

When I go to a restaurant I always look to see if they have Lobster Thermadore. Best I ever had was at a restaurant in Rhode Island a long time ago. Other places don't seem to make it as well as in New England.

Dave, I've heard a bit about a "Full English Breakfast"...what's up with that? What's in it?

Marycat, I thought I was about only one who actually enjoyed liver...I love it with bacon and lots of mashed potatoes and gravy but no one else in my family (except the cats) will touch it! They look at it and head for nearest Mickey Dee's!

First The English breakfast consists of the following, all fried, mmm fatty but nice, 2 Eggs, 2 rashers bacon, 2 sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, fried bread, beans and hash browns, a couple slices bread & butter, a cup of tea, toast and marmalade.......(very moreish as we say)............ now I used to love Liver ans bacon a popular english dish (I think) but I worked on the underground as a driver of a tube train and one morning I had a suicide ( someone jumped) and as a direct result we went home early, and my wife said that morning " your home early" I told her what happened and I said " whats for dinner" you guessed it Liver and Bacon and since then Im like your cats a no go area Im afraid.:(

Your Culinary Skills, do you rush food through, do you eat in bed, or at a table, or do you like resturant meals, do you watch the TV and eat meals on a tray, or use your best silver at a table.:wa:

Norfolkdave
10-14-2005, 01:26 PM
Depends, normally we sit at the table, but if I want to watch a film a rarity ( for me)I have my dinner on a tray, then once a month we take ourselves of to our local pub and have a meal out, English food as Im a bit of a fussy eater, in as much and no disrespect to ffox or WB I not one for French food, I like Indian though, and occassionally Ti but not chinese. We have some lovely resturants in and around our village so it makes a change to go and have a spend up.

I do all the cooking. We usualy eat off of folding tray tables in front of the tv. It is the most conveinient way for both of us. We talk about our day, watch stupid reruns of Sienfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond, or someother old sitcom. When we are done she cleans up. Then we sit on the couch together and snuggle up with a glass of wine and the dogs.
Tonight I'm ordering pizza!!!! lol
We do go out often when we get the chance but with her busy schedule and my stupid off beat work hours it seems like it isn't enough.

I do most of the cooking. Because the TV is viewable from the Dining room and kitchen, we watch TV when we eat dinner and sometimes at lunch.

Until last month, my wife's job was from between noon and 9pm, sometimes later. Then there was the 18 mile trip home. So we often times watched the evening news at 10 pm while we ate (eating dinner from 9-10pm seems rather European, maybe we should have worn berets).

But the medical laboratory she worked for was bought out by a larger chain, and she got a job at the State Hospital about 3 miles away and works from 8am-5pm. (This confuses both me and the cats as everyone is used to eating later.)

Sometimes we eat on the good china and the actual silver, they are about 80 years old and sometimes we get out the crystal we got in Germany, but usually we just eat on the plates and german silver we got when we married.

Culinary style, casual American foods. steak, chicken and so on. We used to do roasts, but with only two people it lasted the entire week.

We do go out every so often, usually a dinner meeting in one of the organizations we belong to.

Since my wife went back to work I hae been able to experiment in the KItchen. With food that is ;) I enjoy cooking and if time allows will even set the table for a romantic meal for two with candles etc even on a weeknight

It really gets to me when she comes in and doesn't notice or says she is in a hurry. see ladies even we men have to cope with that:D

anyway I think food can be the food of LOVE take it slowly, enjoy every mouthful and savour those flavours and tastes

wash it down with a good red wine

I'm hungry already

Having grown up in a family owned restaurant and learning how to cook complete meals by the time I was ten, I really enjoy cooking. Sunday is usually my night to prepare the meals. During football season our boys will invite a few friends over and we have a casual dinner watching the EPSN hilights and then the sunday game.

Cooking is relaxing and a great way to show off creativity. It also can be very sensual.;)

At first it was trial and error, now say 36 years on, shes a great cook, her roast dinners are awesome, take today I have roast Pork, roast potatoes which are crunchy califlower, brussel sprouts, yorkshire pudding, and a nice thick gravy, then for sweet, fresh pinapple chunks.

Mondays we normally have just egg and chips and mushrooms, or if we had roast beef on a sunday we would have a cold meal monday.

Now winnters on its way we,ll have stews and casseroles and bacon and onion roll very very tasty.:kk

I do most of the cooking at home, my wife can't function for an hour or more after waking up in the morning so if we want breakfast, I do it. Same with supper, I am generally home first and it is easier to just start it. She does to things like lasagna but we haven't done that is some time, now that there are just two of us.

My Grandmother (Mother's side) was a great country cook, I don't think she ever used a recipe and it was pretty much what her Mother taught her, but the only thing she let my Mother do when she was growing up was set the table. When Dad married my Mother, she could make coffee and soups in an erthimyer (sp?) flask and a bunson burner.

My Father's Mother was pretty much the same way, but they hired a woman to come cook and she taught my aunt how to cook and she is a great cook.

For those who missed it on the other thread, here's my recipe for Russian Chicken

- chicken parts; can be breasts, thighs, assorted, skin on or off, doesn't matter
- 1 bottle Russian salad dressing
- 1 envelope onion soup mix
- 1 can gellied cranberries (not the whole berries)

Place chicken in a baking dish. Whisk together remaining ingredients and pour over chicken. Cook uncovered for one hour at 350 degrees. Serve over rice.

bLOW MY MIND marycat..curious..child sex masters...what the hell are they...there is lots of crazy stuff that goes on in the world..it makes most of us happy to think it happens in other peoples back yards and not ours....

Many people who cook in restaurants recieve hot oil burns..

P.S I don't want you to answer the above question..and yes, life is freaky;)
So now I'm curious...what's with the burn marks up her arms? Sounds like you have been living some freaky kind of life. You're not one of those child sex master kind of guys are you? Just watched a show on TV about that....not a good thing :(

Your not getting serious are you Dave.. Us Aussies have pretty similar tastes..

as for clean...didn;t your farmers make those cows crazy with that country style hospitality...or maybe it was the weather..

As for American food. ooh I saw a great show on smoked ham in some hick town.. hell did it look delicious..

P.S Sounds like the wife likes to cook..lucky man....
our food is ok, we bring our animals up cleanly, the food content is 100%. The Amercians do wonderous sandwhiches, and really its each to there own. We grow good crops and have no problems.

I am answering anyway....with your descriptions of the young girls in your classes I just had to ask, and you do live over there where a lot of freaky stuff happens so I was curious. I know all that crap happens here also....I had just watched that movie so it was fresh in my mind. It doesn't really matter what I think...was just curious.

Mexican and Itlalian are my two favorite go out meals , chicken fahitas -yummy !
My mom used to make chicken and dumplins and it was great , I make them on rare occasions . German food -Bratworst . Hungarian food -cabbage and noodles - sounds bad but it is delicious and even my kids eat it . A good filet mignon or prime rib with baked potato and veggie in nice restauraunt sounds good !

Sorry Marycat, i tend to be a little defensive when it comes to this place.

As for finding a good go go club or massage parlour.. they are everywhere.. as for the freaky stuff it's kept behind closed doors..
Here are some funny facts...
*most Thai people think the westerners are sex crazed freaks with no moral charactor.
*Most sex workers here are Laos/Thai.
* 60%plus of 18 year olds here are virgins.{Thai students}
*Porn is illegal. no sex shops..No vibrators..
*get caught with an underage girl here, your going down for a long time.

it's a place of extremes.. .. you wanna come for a freaky holiday..I'm sure hubby will love it...

thanks for asking Marycat

Italian food is universal.. loved by all.. as for the cabbage and noodles.yuk. and you made your kids eat it..

As a " i'm drunk I'll eat anything kinda guy}.. would you believe I tried rat about 2 weeks ago..
in my defence I was told it grew up on the rice paddies and it took hours to catch.. it tasted O.K... one mouthful was enough..so I went back to eating deep fried insects...
