I like to listen to a lot of different types of music, too, Kissie. My favorite is Country, but I also like some classic rock, some soft rock, jazz, and classical. I love the Moulin Rouge Soundtrack. And there is nothing better than The Phantom of the Opera.

my tastes range all over the place. I got serius for Christmas and i think it's the best thing since sliced bread. I mostly listen to Country music from the 80's and 90's, but I love classic rock, southern rock, jazz, smooth jazz. It all depends on my mood.
I have a six disc changer in my boat and it's filled with Buffet.

I'm not really familiar with a lot of his music. But I've been trying to listen to some of the music from the 80's. I didn't really start listening to country music til the late 80's. But I love all of Alabama's stuff. And Barbara Mandrell and Lori Morgan were my heros then. lol

My favorite male artist has to be Goerge Strait. Especialy his early stuff in the eighties.
Brooks and Dunn are my favorite duo along with the Judds and my favorite female artist is Martina Mcbride.
everyone knows Jimmy Buffet for all of his greatest hits, but he has a lot of new stuff out there with is great. He has a lot of country influence in his music also.
Now if you want some nice music for a romantic evening, put on some Van Morrison ballads and you will be all set!

Like I said earlier, Alabama is my favorite group. Male soloist - it's a toss up between Tim McGraw and Josh Turner. Female Soloist - I like Martina McBride, but I think my favorite is probably Reba. George Strait is one of my favorites, though. He has the classic country sound that is missing so much of the time now. Not that that is a bad thing, but I like to have my cake and eat it, too. Old country, new country - they're both great.

I will listen to just about anything. I am not particularly fond of "gangsta rap," but other than that I am pretty wide open. It depends more on my mood or what I am doing at the time that drives the kind of music I listen to. When I'm riding in the car with my son, we listen to country. Nothing more fun than listening to a 6 year old try and sing in a bass voice like Josh Turner. When I am alone, I prefer classical, baroque, and opera. I like to sing the few arias I know and conduct just about any piece. This can be embarassing if you are around a bunch of people. They look at you weird.
I love jazz and blues. Doesn't matter who I'm with, I can listen to it any time. I have played the trombone for most of my life and have played just about everything: big band, fusion, latin, ska, dixie, funk, soul....
Occasionally I will listen to top 40 stuff. I love classic rock. There is a time and a place for hip hop and club music. I don't dance, but when you are with a beautiful woman and that kind of music is playing, hell even this white boy's hips will move.

I'm not offended at all. I just hate for someone to lose out on some very powerful music because the only classical and opera they've been exposed to was the blah stuff. Think about the movie soundtracks that move you or even commercials. You get snippets of some of the best classical music and opera there. You could listen to something that is classical or baroque, but doesn't seem like it. If you like acoustic guitar music, try listening to a Vivaldi, Bach, or Rodrigo guitar concerto. It's awesome!

Personally, my first choice would be country. I enjoy the new as well as the old. For any type of dancing, I prefer hip hop, rap, or old Southern rock. I've never gotten into songs without words. Guess because for me WHAT they are saying is as important as the music they pair it with.

I love all kinds of music except for rap and heavy metal. I'm choosy about my classic rock, but will listen to most current music - Nickelback, Coldplay, Five for Fighting. I love a good ballad though. I'm a sucker for Van Morrison, Don McLean sings one of my all-time faves. I like alot of country, especially George Strait, Bonnie Raitt, and Lyle Lovett. I love Motown too - Ray Charles, Supremes, Temptations. My passion is old music though - old standards, jazz, swing, big band, and classical. Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Sara Vaughan, they knew how to sing!

And just when I thought time had set me free
Those thoughts of you keep taunting me
Holding you, a feeling I never outgrew
Though each and every part of me has tried
Only you can fill that space inside

My heart its not mending
I like all good music no matter the genre.

Hubby bought me a new piece of electronic equipment. I can now transfer LP's to my computer, it automatically converts them to MP3's and I can burn CD's. I'm so excited. A guy at work is letting me borrow his albums. Right now I'm burning Bob Seger / Stranger in Town.
What fun....
Still depends on how I am feeling!!

Grew up on Minnesota rock: Replacements, Husker Du, Soul Asylum, Golden Smog, etc., which led me to Minnesota alt country bands The Gear Daddies and The Jayhawks, which led me to alt country over all. Love Whiskeytown, Ole '97s, Wilco, etc.
