What is your favorite holiday and why? Mine is Christmas. The songs, decorations, family,Santa(until this year:( ), the anticipation of it all! It is my tradition to make my famous peppermint fudge every year. You're exhausted and broke on the 26th, but up until the 25th, it's all worth it to me.:)

Fourth of July. It is hot, ladies wearing almost nothing, lots of food and drink. Fireworks to have sex too.

I have a hard time deciding between Thanksgiving and Christmas...

I like Thanksgiving because of the family and food....which is the same as Christmas...but without the feeling of spending too much! I enjoy the time together with family either way. We use to gather with all my aunts and uncles at my Grandmothers....but things have changed, my grandma is long passed away. But I like them both!

I'd have to agree with Dreamy, it's a toss up between Thanksgiving and Christmas. But I think I'm leaning more toward Thanksgiving because you don't have to worry so much about getting gifts for all your family members. Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ and of course you get to see all the gorgeous holiday lights, sing christmas caroles and decorate the christmas tree. But, I would have to say that Thanksgiving is a much less stressfull holiday for me, so I do tend to enjoy it a little more.

Any holiday is special to me as long as I get to spend it with my family....my family is getting so spread out now that it is hard to get together anymore...Christmas is the holiday we are all doing everything in our powers to make it special for my Mom and my hubby...as we all know he will not be with us for Christmas of 07...

But deep in my heart Memorial Day has always been the best holiday for me...my Dad used to have the biggest back yard cook outs...yummmmmmmmmmmmy!!!!

Thanksgiving - I like the simplicity of it. Just food and family. No decorations. No expensive gifts. No last minute crazy shopping. No gift returns. Just good food and a good time.

Thanksgiving is even better when I don't have to do any of the cooking.:D

In the States, Halloween - something for both kids and adults, can be theatrical or simply decorative

then Thanksgiving - for the food, family, spiritual tie (in my family)

---

New Years in Oz - because it doesn't have a set way of being celebrated and it's easy to get in the spirit when the word 'alcoholic' doesn't exist.

When have you ever had to cook at Thanksgiving? You might have stirred something for me once or twice, but I've never made you cook. You better watch it or you'll be cooking this year, buddy. ;) :kk

My favorite holiday is Christmas. The lights, kissing under the mistletoe, the music, kissing under the mistletoe, the family get togethers, kissing under the mistletoe, the food, kissing under the mistletoe, Christmas trees, kissing under the mistletoe, giving gifts to those you love, kissing under the mistletoe, reading The Night Before Christmas to the kids on Christmas Eve, and kissing under the mistletoe.

Love the kissing.....

Remberance day ..........veterans day

we always watch the ceremonies and i am always moved ....
we have planes fly over and the sound fills the air, giving me a small taste
of what it must have been like in wartime....

this remeberance day will be extra moving....its the first one without my pop...

I know it's not a holiday but I love Halloween time. Our zoo has where they trick or treat every weekend leading up to halloween, so we go there once or twice during the weekends (only takes an hour or so) and it's nice to breathe the fall air. Plus it get's plenty use out of that expensive costume she wears. Christmas would be my next fav, only because I think the season last longer like 6 wks or so.

I think that's great. Ahh a Christmas birthday, what a nice present your mom got that day.

Ok, those eyes are so creepy. I have a cat named Jimmy and he looks like that. So everytime I see those creepy eyes I think I'm looking at my cat, just blinking at me.

lol, you can keep your cat eyes, you're fine, lol. Yeah, as a labor and delivery nurse, a Christmas baby is not a cool thing. Every year we made sure doctors didn't schedule inductions near that day and just kept our fingers crossed that the women of our city would hold it in just one more day, lol. At least when they come in we know they're seriously in labor and not just bored and wanting some attention when they're not in labor. Yeah hubby has always said he likes his birthday so close to Christmas, but he's not buying all those presents now is he, lol.

No secret... we were talking about a divorce less than a year ago! We're still working things out. Things have gotten a whole lot better in the past few months, but it's still a struggle. I think now that I can finally work again my stress level isn't quite so bad. I'm out of the house a lot more!

Ahhhh the gift for two occasions, lol I do that with hubby now, lol. I know what you mean by letting things slide. I love blowing out tons of candles on my own cake, now I let my 3 yr old do it cause she gets so excited thinking that everyone's birthday party is her own. There so much we let slide after you have a child, but so much fun to watch experiencing things through their eyes.

This day has nothing to do with the mail or the postMEN either.

It is a day that was just created for all of our ladies to honour us for everything that we have done for them and the GOOD things that we are yet to do for them. The fact is that you ladies are just too impatient...you want your cake and eat it too!

On MALE Day..you must bow to the Masters here! You must do what we want: No butts (nor bumms) just our wishes must be honoured. :lmao :) :whee: :D :55 :55 :55 :55 :55 :55

I know that feeling. We have no Thanksgiving over here. The month of November is full of "holidays"...November 1, November 11 ( Armistice Day) but no Thanksgivings over here.

May is an impossible month in France. Each week during that month, there is a holiday. Examples: May 1 (Labour Day), May 8, (Victory Day 1945), May 21, (Ascension), and May 25 is (Monday Pentecost). The French already do not work...May is one of the months when they do even less in addition to the grandiose month of August where nothing happens, not even national strikes.
