What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving this year????
We thought we were going to have a few single GI's for dinner but they canceled on us...so I guess we are going to spend it alone just the 2 of us....

We are driving home to Arkansas. We're leaving Tuesday am and won't be back until Sat. pm late. I can't wait!!!!!! The closer we get to Tuesday, the more homesick I get. :( I have to say that I will be more thankful this year than I have in the years past. just because I know more clearly what I have to be thankful for.

Funny how you don't know how good it is, until you lose it. A life's lesson well learned--- hug your mama for me.
Aww, heck, hug her for yourself, too.

Will do, spare. But I don't think my mom will know who spare is.... And I don't think I really want to try to explain it to her. :D

Oh, I can just see that! My mom, the preacher's wife, getting phone calls from men she doesn't know who want to send hugs via her daughter. That should be a riot. Nothing else would be talked about around the dinner table, believe me! :lmao

... via her daughter, my eye!!! I was gonna set up a date!! After all, you can't truly know the value of a fine wine, unless you have tasted the tainted fruit.
We are leaving for Texas on Friday....we be spending Thanksgiving with Hanks 2 kids, my stepkids and their families. We will be meeting 2 adorable little granddaugters for the first time....they are ages 1 and 3. :)

Thank goodness, the weather has turned for the better. Haven't been able to cook outside all summer due to dry conditions. I am going to be able to smoke the turkey outside as always. Was beginning to worry. I always cook for a crowd on Thanksgiving so I am ready.
I have to work Thursday night..but we have some in-laws coming to our house for and Late meal so I can be part of it. So depending on how much sleep I get thursday...it will still be nice to have a dinner with some family.

I'll be working six nights next week..including Thursday. Husband and son are going out of town for three days to mom in-law's.:( Will be celebrating Turkey Day alone with sleep and maybe a grilled cheese.:(

My family and I are spending the day on my aunt's farm. Now that Tom's gone (neighbor's dog got out) there will nothing there to make little ones feel bad about eating turkey. Should be a good year!
... if not, there's always jello shots!

We will celebrate on Friday instead of Thursday so we can all be together. I think on Thursday I'll call my family that are out of state and watch football.

I AM THANKFUL:
For the wife who says it's hot dogs tonight.
Because she is home with me, and not out with someone else.
For the teenager who is complaining about doing dishes.
Because it means she is at home, not on the streets.
For the taxes I pay.
Because it means I am employed.
For the mess to clean after a party.
Because it means I have been surrounded by friends.
For the clothes that fit a little too snug.
Because it means I have enough to eat.
For my shadow that watches me work.
Because it means I am out in the sunshine.
For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and gutters that need fixing.
Because it means I have a home.
For all the complaining I hear about the government.
Because it means we have freedom of speech.
For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot.
Because it means I am capable of walking and I have been blessed with transportation.
For my huge heating bill.
Because it means I am warm.
For the lady behind me in church who sings off key.
Because it means I can hear.
For the pile of laundry and ironing.
Because it means I have clothes to wear.
For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day.
Because it means I have been capable of working hard.
For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours.
Because it means I am alive.
And finally, for too much e-mail.
Because it means I have friends who are thinking of me.
Going to my brother's house for lunch. Am hoping for a real turkey and not turkey burgers which is the only thing they have ever served for gatherings. This is their first Thanksgiving at their house, so I'm hoping for a real turkey, a real thanksgiving meal. I'm planning on some Bob Evan's Thanksgiving the night before just to make sure we get a real meal. The best part of the day for me is watching the Macy's parade on tv, growing up that always made my holiday. Watching the parade on tv while mom cooked in the kitchen. Ahhh...good times.
