New camera suggestions

Hi all, I'm in the market for some new cameras and I was wondering if any of you have bought anything recently and what your experiences are with them?

I'm looking for

- a compact pocket camera (3-5 mp) for quick pics

- a slr / pseudo slr camera for more professional looking shots

- video camera (preferably with a hard drive) for....erm....play :p


I have some in mind, but thought I'd see if any of you is delighted with a recent purchase.

If anyone is out to buy a camera or 2 this christmas, I have bought 2 really great cameras after some intensive research. Been using them for a week now and I am quite impressed.

Small Pocket Camera = Canon Elph SD600 (you can get newer 630 too, but I got the 600 for cheaper). Great small camera with a large screen and easy to use. Only downside is that it takes a lithium battery instead of AA's.

Larger Camera = Canon SI-13. Almost an SLR, but not quite. Great lense, 12x optical zoom. Downside is that it takes 4 AA's which can add to the weight of the camera. It also has a small lcd display compared to other cameras, but the quality of the pictures (especially portraits) are some of the best I've seen from a non-SLR camera.

I bought Momma the Panisonic Lumix...6 megapixels with a 6x zoom and a stabilization control...its kinda cool...u can be in motion and it will take a sharp picture..also has a video mode for those naughty videos .....and it was on for a $ 100 off ...

and yes she has already opened it !!!!

My Camera is a SamSung Digimax 350SE 3.2 Mega Pixels with Schneider 7.21mm lense also has video, and sound and wide and telephone lens, it cost me £180 uk pounds (2 years ago) now in excess of £370.
