Do you remember that adult talk show on Satalite called "Night Moves"??? Maybe it was "Night Moods...." Anyway, not sure if it's still on or not, but there were two girls on there that did the show naked, or almost naked. You could call in and talk to them.

My husband and I got through once, and got to talk on the show once, and we had sex and had orgasms while talking to them on the phone! It was so much fun! LOL I just wondered if that show was still on?

Grape, orange and cherry. And yes, they were horrible.

My brother and I played Wide World for hours on end. I have no idea what happened to our copy, but I found it on ebay and bought it for him for his birthday a couple of years ago, and one for myself. My son is too young to play it yet, but seeing as he loves maps and atlases already, I'm sure we'll be playing soon enough!

Yes, Hostess made them.

It's a little known fact that London Ontario is a very popular test market for myriad products and services, and fruit flavoured chips were tested here back in the mid 70's. They weren't around for long. One of the problems being that the simulated flavours weren't even close to authentic tasting. They tasted like sweetened chemicals.

Does anybody remember the first home computers? I had a Commodore 64. I remember the pitiful games that were on it. You would tell it to load the game, then you could go do something else for half an hour, and it might be ready to play when you got back.

I also had an ATARI game system when I was growing up, with games like
Pacman
Missile Command
Space Invaders
Breakout

Atari has come out with a retro game console. For about $50.00 you can get it pre-loaded with 4 or 5 of the old games... like Pac Man, Pong, Ms Pac Man... I'm not sure of what they all are, but I want that for Christmas!

AND I was exhausted by the time I went to bed! (I think we should do away with remote controls and make our kids and grandkids change the channels for us! They'll go to sleep faster at night if they have to actually walk to the TV every time they want to watch a new show. I don't think I was deprived of too much. :D )

No, you're right. They weren't pitiful. I just got frustrated waiting for the programs to load. I still thought it was the coolest thing, especially since not many of my friends had computers back then.

We didn't use the cassette tapes with our computer. It was the 10 inch "floppy" disks.

Do you remember when there weren't televisions in almost every room in the house, much less in cars? And when there was one telephone in the house for everyone to use - including the teenagers? (I hated that - Dad walking through the kitchen telling me to get off the phone. That 30 minutes was long enough.)

I bet George remembers that - we talked for 30 minutes, tops. LOL Until college that is. Then he just listened to me snore while we were on the phone. I was awful - he'd call and I'd fall asleep. LOL Not that he was boring - it was just really late by the time he went home....

I remember we had one black and white set in the livingroom. Then when my sister and I saved enough, we put it together and got a little tv for in our room. I think she was about 12 and I might have been 10. We were the coolest kids Grandview Park!

I remember we had only one car and my mom had to take the bus and transfer 3 times to get to work... no matter what the weather. She always wore a dress to work, even on the coldest days... in Chicago no less. Dad took the car because mom did't have a drivers license. Ahh women back then... Mom didn't drive and Grandma never learned to ride a bike or drive. They were supporters of The Chicago Transit System.

Awe Mike that's not totally true. My 12 year old son has had his "Stick Collection" for many years! However they aren't all "sticks", some are swords, some are light sabers and some are only used for walking, hiking, and moutain climbing.

We thought our son would want one of the new 12 speed bikes when we got him one for his birthday, but that souped up single speed bike handles the ramps so much better... and it's easier to ride over the terrain he has to go over to get to the park about a mile away. That's the bike my son found next the dumpster for the trashman. My husband fixed for him, with his help of course.

Yes, he has his Nintendo Game Cube and he has Nintendo DS. Those differences are very minor compared with all the things he and friends do just the same as we did. Really, toys might change, but kids don't change much.

The good old days, I think we all remember them.

I remember my little red wagon, lol at my grandmas house there was this big hill on a dirt road. We'de load that wagon up with 3 kids and down the hill we'de zoom. Of course most times we would crash and burn in the ditch but it was fun.

My mom was embarassed to take me to the doctor because of all the bruises and scrapes, she was sure they would think I had been beaten lol.

When the first snow would fall we'de head out in the pasture with our waxed chicken boxes lol we didn't have sleds, those waxed boxes would fly. Or we find an old piece of ply wood and tie a rope to it and use one of our horses to go sledding in the pasture. Of course we'de come home covered in mud, ice and cow poop lol but hey it was fun.

Growing up in the country my grandpa always made sure we had horses. They weren't pets they were baby sitters. From daylight to dark we'de be 5 miles from home riding all over the place, even across the railroad trussle bridges(omg how stupid was that.) Playing cowboys and indians chasing the trains.... lord only knows where we would have ended up had we actually caught one, but it was fun.

I remember our first Atari lol woooo hoooo Space Invaders, now that was cool.

Just my opinion, kids these days just don't know how to play. Mine are always asking what can we do. When I was a kid, what didn't we do! We made our own fun, we didn't buy it from a store. We used hay twine and a stick tying it to the barn rafters and swinging from the loft or from the higest hay bail. LOL amazingly no broken bones.

Times have changed though, you can't just let your children wander 5 miles from home, hell you can't even let them out of your sight at Wal-Mart. Kids these days just don't have the freedom that we did when we were kids.

The traffic is bad, there are too many crazy people. We worry about our children being abducted right out of our own back yards.

Ahhhhhhhhhh the good old days, times were simpler.

Of course we built forts in the hay barn, we had secret clubs. My grandma had a couple of grape vines lol most of you older guys know you can smoke grape vines lol but you never smoke in the hay barn ooooooooooh we got our asses beat for that one.

My uncle had an old baby blue chevy truck he kept parked in the barn one summer lol WOW you would not believe how many Hustler and Playboy magazines we found behind his seat. :D

I wonder if any of you ever had persimmon fights? Ya get a limber branch and sharpen one end and then stick a green persimmon on the end and let er fly. God those suckers felt like golf balls hitting you up side the head.

When my uncle came back from Viet Nam he had this black bag, lol and I swear it had about 500 packages of Alka Seltzer in it. It's a wonder every fish in that pond didn't die, it looked like a huge vat of boiling muddy water.

When Poke Salad bushes get big, they get purple berries on em, they stain anything they touch, even the siding on grandmas house lol. But, they make great war paint on horses lol, took about a week for that eyeshadow to wear off though.

When Bug Bunny, All the looney toons, the Flintstones, and the Jetsons were "THE" cartoons they survived for 30 years and entertained millions of kids... but now the kids have all of this Techno-crap.... and they say the old ones were violent....

I disagree a little..my kids love Bugs Bunny, the Jetsons and the Flintsones,why..because of the techno crap...all the cartoons now are the same, quickly made pieces of crap..Bugs Bunny is now edited, because its too violent but the humor is still there...Bugs Bunny not only entertained alot of kids but Adults as well...He was born in 1940 and entertained alot of the troops who went to the movies,he also sold war bonds...there is a few "banned" Bugs movies where he went up agaist Hilter...

My kids also listen to the music I listened to when i was there age..Kiss,Queen,Rush...etc...

Like Annie my kids have the video games, but balanced with active play it can be a good thing...since my son is autistic his hand and eye coordination is not good ,but has greatly improved as he plays a video game...and catching a ball..

He wants to design video games and i encourage him...those people make a killing ...i mean after it will be his turn to look after mom and dad soon...lol

These posts are actually bring me back I remmeber the Atari as well thinking combat was amazing of course we played for an hour then went outside for the next 6. Now I have an X-box 360, I don't even lie and claim it is for the kids and know that when Halo 3 comes out I may not leave the basement for 3 days.

I like Hoss note about the kids as I have an autistic son as well and he has the V-Tech game designed for preschoolers and it has helped him in focus as well as learning the basic alphabet and some math skills and color and shape identification. I am also lucky my kids both love video games computers, etc, they are 8 and 5 but given the preference they prefer to play for an hour and go outside for 6 just like dad lol.

As was mentioned it is all about balance, although we were not always smart in the old days I remember having BB-Gun and bottle rocket wars when our only "protection" were trash can lids back when they were actually metal.

My son and my husband just finished watching Sylvester and Tweety Bird for the umpteenth time this morning. He has a video of a few of the old episodes and howls with laughter every single time he watches it.

Actually in Ohio they were banned when I was a kid but legal now go figure. We were resourceful suckers though and knew the local stores that had the special back room with fireworks although in later years those back rooms seemed to replace the fireworks with adult videos and toys. It probably is a positive though that sex outsells violence:-)

but when we were young we had no tv. (everyone in my family could read before they could walk) i didn't know that i was missing anything. we took chairs and a sheet or a big cardboard box and it was on! my poor dog got tied to a skateboard and we held umbrellas for wind resistance. :55
as a pre teen we went bombing :nu which lost me a front tooth. the bombs were eggs drained and filled with nair and then frozen, or just a frozen egg- they don't actually freeze but they hurt like a bitch when they hit you, and of course shaving cream. the goal was to have not a single dry spot on your body- even under your clothes. it was awesome! :whee:

Does anybody remember going to the drive-in movies? Well, back in the 60's it was only a couple of bucks admission. But a lot of us teenage guys were constantly broke. So to offset this little problem we would have two guys up front in the car going past the ticket booth. The two guys up front would happily pay for their movie tickets. Unbeknownst to the ticket taker there would be 4 or 5 more guys stuffed into the trunk of the car! Talk about a low rider! We had low sitting cars before low riders were cool! Yes, many a free movie was taken in by all of us back then! Good times indeed!:D

No, none of that ever happened to me Playful. One thing that did happen though. I had slipped five or six guys into the movie one Friday night. Once inside and parked, they decided to do a pyramid on the hood of my Dad's car, an Oldsmobile 88. All that weight crushed the hood like a taco! My ass got into a sling over that one brother!
