Hello, I am having trouble with my Internet explorer. It is doing some very odd things.Sometimes it will completely close the page i am visiting for no reason or it will be very slow loading pages and when i say slow i mean very very very slow for eg i tried to google something and after 10 minutes of the page trying to load i gave up.I thought that it was perhaps the topic i was searching so i tried putting in random things to see if that made any difference but it didn't.Another problem i had was when i was on a forum and clicked on a link and nothing happened i tried to open a new tab and that wouldn't work either and it would let me access any options that are in my tools menu.i had to restart my computer.Just to let you know i have high speed Internet connection. Thanks in advance to anyone that helps me with this problem.

Helen --
I think that you might be having more than one problem. Earlier tonight, I had problems reaching this site, where it would just get stuck loading a page. I don't think it was my computer because I could get to other sites fine. I think it was the ISP that the board is hosted on.
If you're having trouble with applications closing without any reason, you might have a virus. Have you run your virus scanner lately? Also, do you have a firewall on your high speed connection?

Well I removed Internet Explorer about a year ago in favour of Mozilla Firefox.Haven't regretted the move at all.
But maybe your PC is clogged with excessive garbage which is slowing it down....One way to find out is to install CrapCleaner which is free and see how much rubbish is in there. If you do download it they will ask if you want to donate something to the inventor....you can bipass the request, however, and download free. I run mine regularly and remove many megabites of rubbish.
Hi Helen! Welcome to the site! I think there's several members who can offer you alot more assistance with this than I can, but my computer runs more efficiently when I run Ad-aware. It's part of the Google package, and will eliminate any spyware or malware from your computer. Spyware definitely slows things down.

Yes I also run Ad-aware...a good program for spyware. CrapCleaner is super fast...like seconds.

Well if you get it and have Qs ...I will try and help. But it is pretty straightforward Jazzy. I find also if I run it first it picks up all Ad_Ware does, usually, plus loads and loads more.
The first time you run it you may get a shock at how much is in there. First you hit analyse it lists all the trash then asks you if you want to remove with a warning that it will be gone....I remove whatever is there and have not had one prob in over a year.

Just checked out CrapCleaner. It's a great program!!
However, it is NOT a spyware remover. It is a disk optimization program, much in the same vein as the DiskCleaner program provided by Windows. It is, however, much more effective, FASTER!!, and gets a lot more stuff than the DiskCleaner program.
After I ran CrapCleaner, I ran Spyware Doctor and Registry Mechanic (commercial programs by PC Tools), and they uncovered an additional 142 instances of spyware and malware. That is about the number I normally find, since I use a significant amount of downloaded files.
The point is, CrapCleaner is a great program for what it is intended. However, it does not replace a good spyware and malware program suite.
Thanks for the tip, Rhumba -- it's now part of my toolset.

Hi Helen. I like trying the easy stuff first... Try deleting all your temporary internet files, cookies, etc. You may need to retype your passwords to your favorite sites, but that might clear up the problem. You might have a spyware program running too, but that will require a anti-spyware program. There's several free ones out there. When it comes to ones you have to pay for, I swear by PC-cillin. Good luck!
