It was the best thing my husband ever did! And he loved the time between having it done and his 6 week checkup. He had to orgasm 25 times to clear out the pipes. I benefitted too :D !!!

Had it done after my third child. I was pretty nervous about it going in, but it wasn't as bad as I feared. It didn't take very long, they did it right in the doctor's office. I went home right after. I did feel kind of uncomfortable for a couple of days after. It felt a little bit like a bruise from getting kicked there, though not as bad. You might want to take at least one day off after.

It is so nice not to have to worry about birth control every time we have sex. And it's a lot less invasive than it would be for a woman to have her tubes tied.

This one cuts close to my heart...
I think it's a really serious decision to make. My husband got "snipped" after his first marriage and then when we met, we decided we wanted to have a child of our own. So...he had a reversal; it's been over three years since the reversal and still no baby for us. And, yes, I've been checked out too. I'm just saying, think about it; you're young. There are other methods of protection besides condoms. Has your wife considered using contraception? Ultimately, it is your decision and you should make the one that's best for you. I do not mean to deter you or disagree with your choices in any way...Just thought I'd offer my side of the story... Best wishes with whatever decision you make.

Crawfish....

I was snipped 8 yrs ago. We know we were done and she did not want to go through what her mom had when her got fixed....she went immediate menopause. So I had no problem with it. Just be sure you dont want kids with your wife or if you ever remarry etc... Mine was simple in and out walk in. But they did very much under estimate it when they say...."this may stink a little bit" and give you that first shot! :spbx: And I like the fact I dont ever have to worry about getting her pregnant. I'd do it over again if I had too...its worth the freedom! :55

I want to get it done. My wife has had a hysterectomy so I didn't have to. But it really scared the hell out of me when I was with someone else. Granted she was 45 and had never had kids which is a pretty good bet that by now she probably couldn't have any. But stranger things have happened.

I asked the wife maybe I should get one and her reply was, Why?
I am under the impression that she thinks if I get one I will screw around on her. Too late for that! ha'ha'!
Maybe it is her way of keeping me home.
She also replied how many women are you going to meet that are of child bearing age anyway?
I thought to myself you just never know!

Hubby was supposed to get snipped after the 2nd one, well of course he put it off because it was rodeo season, then it was hunting season. So when Fathers Day rolled around. I walked out in the middle of the rodeo arena and said Happy Fucking Fathers Day lol. Pissed does not even describe it! So after number 3 (can't imagine not having her now) I told him either get it done or get your hand in shape.

So he did. Since I am a nurse lol the doc let me go back with him lol I even helped lol how crazy is that. The funniest thing was hubby laid out in all his glory swaying his toes and singing lol wow IV valium really kicked his ass! :lmao

Get it done, it is a tremendous freedom! :55

I want you to explain why dave ... in detail naturally! :55Well I guess it just makes it hotter, I don't know why, Like getting away with somthing you are not supposed to.

I have done it and it is really scary, more than once. mostly when was in high school. Waiting till the end of the month. Too much stress for me. a year ago I was seeing a woman who was 45. she had never had children and was on the pill so I thought we were pretty safe. Nothing like a little risk management Eh? But I still thought about if she did get pregnant it would have been really bad for both of us and others as well. Like Outta my mind says, "Better to git er done!"

I should have been smarter in high school and went the technical virgin route You know tits, belly, ass, blow job, That would have been fun. What a great way to get experience and have it all.

It's not "just" get your tubes tied. It's an invasive procedure for a woman. A man getting snipped is much safer, quicker and less expensive.

Years ago we used the pull out method....I always felt like I was missing something. Of course I was young and didn't realize the skin beautification benefits I would have enjoyed :55

Suz

Having a tubal is an invasion procedure. We do them all the time where I work and if you could see how a woman is manipulated during the surgery, you wouldn't wish that for anyone. Much easier and safer for a man to get snipped. There are studies out now that show an increase risk for a woman to end up having a hysterectomy that had her tubes tied at some point in her life. Not to mention the adhesions that develop. Just not worth it when there are other options in my opinion.

My wife was one of first women in Canada to get her tubes cauterised. It was done thru her navel in a day surgery procedure without any suffering... by a specialist who happened to be a pioneer in that procedure. She never had any side effects and never regretted it. She was in at 8am and out by 11am.
A friend of mine brought me papers to sign from his doctor saying he was of sound mind because he wanted a vasectomy. It was a laugh at the time.
Two days later he was back doubled over in pain with balls like coconuts begging for a drink....telling me never to do it :)
I guess different experiences for different people.

Wow... this has been riveting reading. I have a snip snip appointment in about two weeks!:D

Been meaning to get in for about a year after wifey stopped taking the pill... worried about side effects from it that run in her family. We've been using condoms, but I've yet to find a brand that still allows any pleasure (rarely, if ever climax in that damn Glad bag.), and there's no ceremony in wrapping it on... "Uh, hold on... where is it? Malfunctioning. Hold on, damn it. Turn on the light." And she doesn't want to assist in any romantic way.

As for post-surgery, I heard about the frozen pea trick. Any other words of wisdom ladies or gents? Is sex any different afterwards?

Oh and about the "freedom," I just can't help but fantasize in a whole new way about some of you sexy M and F babes! ;)

Hanks says be brave, grit your teeth, and go back for the followup vas check.

The frozen peas work great.....he had a cousin who didn't take a sample of pud back for the vas check and they ended up with a bouncing baby boy a couple years later.

Good Luck :55

Interesting thread. I never wanted any children. Married a guy with some and became an instant stepmom which has been good for me. I was on the pill for a while but it caused so many problems. Went off for a while but after a year using nothing I became so terrified of getting pregnant that I decided we had to do something. We talked about condoms but he refused. We discussed one of us being fixed and I even shared what I learned about it being safer for him to be snipped than for me to go through with the tubal ligation. He said he would think about it but never brought it up again. I scheduled my surgery. Two weeks before it, he discussed the possibility of him being snipped. At this point, I thought he was being unfair so I just went through with it. If a couple has agreed that no more children are desired, it is safer for the man to go through the procedure than a woman. I do however feel for SEXYNOLA and all others who desire children but are in relationships with someone who like me made a life-altering decision when they were younger.

Having a vasectomy doesn't really change the experience of sex ... it's still just as wonderful after as it was before (once you get past a day or two of soreness). It does give you a great peace of mind if you're worried about having kids. One less thing to worry about. (Obviously, it doesn't protect you from STD's.)

You still cum. And it still feels and looks the same as before. As for taste, you'd have to ask my wife. My doctor explained that most of our cum is just mucus anyway. After the vasectomy, it is still the same, except there are no sperm cells in it.

And yes, be sure you take in your "sample" and have it checked afterwards. My doctor said that he only knew of one case where a couple got pregnant after the surgery, and it was because they had unprotected sex before they confirmed that his cum was sperm-free. Just tell the wife that you have to have a lot of sex for a couple of weeks to "flush out the pipes."

I knew it was the right decision for me to go through with it then her, but it took me a while to get it in my head that it wouldn't alter me in any way. When i did finally get it done, it was truly painless for the most part, i was catered to over the long weekend but and back at work on Tuesday, but then complications came up and i was horrified that my balls were enlarging...had to go back under the knife, to fix it....this time it was certainly more painful…but I unfortunately fell into that category of anomalies. In retrospect, I should have done it sooner.

V-Day is tomorrow for me. The doctor's office required me to shave it all down there tonight. Yikes! I have never done that before... and it was not easy. I have a totally new appreciation for you ladies who shave it all. :D

But I have to admit, I was pretty turned on in the shower! The razor skimming so close to little Speed Raycer was risky, and the smooth feeling afterward... wow! After the shave, the doctors office required 10 minutes of soapy washing with antibacterial soap. I could barely contain myself. What were they thinking? Well, doctors orders!

Now here's the total bummer: I thought surely wifey would want to see, and even get a little feel and taste as a way to relax me before the procedure.(She has never given me oral sex) But when I finally asked, "Do you want to see?" She said, "Not really."

That totally deflated me. Makes me wonder why I'm going through with this at all. But I'll still do it, and hope for the best.

Any advice ladies? Would seeing your shaved hubby turn you on? Would you want to fool around with him? ;)

It does the heart good to see the men care about it as much as the ladies....or is it we can get away with fooling around with out the worries....hummmm...just a thought.

Has anyone ever seen more interest in sex from the lady after getting off the pill with long time usage? I have also heard that being on the pill for a long time can cause depression or other mental issues in the lady.

Anyone know about long lasting effects of the pill?

I took the pill for years. When I stopped taking I didn't have any mental issues (well at least not any more than I had before) but body didn't like not having the hormones, so I started taking low dose estrogen instead. But everybody reacts differently to everything.

An update: everything turned out okay with my VD Thursday (vasectomy day), and it appears that everything still works just fine! More tests later of course to be sure the little wagglers are gone.

It was a little odd having a male nurse drape my privates and then the urologist was a little ham handed as he got everything just so... but he was quick and clean with the scalpel! :D

Have you ever heard the saying, "After it's over you never remember the pain." Not true, but you don't really think about it, at least until they are teenagers. But that's another story.

LOL. My theory is that if men gave birth, civilization would have died out after the first generation. It must be that God caused women to forget the pain so procreation would actually work!

Well I just found out that I'm going to have a third kid. Not the end of the world but I wasn't prepared for this one. What do you guys think about getting snipped. I knida like the thought of saying goodbye to mr. raincoat.

after medical issues dictated additional pregnancies was a dangerous consideration for us, I was ready to get it snipped immediately. My wife couldn't bear the thought.....not until she was 'ready'......

eventually....after about 5 more years.....she felt ready.....I called...made the appointment......got it done.

felt like a terrible kick to the gonads for a few days.....but that was it....easy

much easier than anything she would have to do

some guys think they're invinvcible, and got to have sex......

one buddy.....against the dr.'s advice......had to have sex.......

next day....I saw him in a wheelchair.......with a bag of ice on his lap....saying it felt like he had a pair of cantaloupes down there.....

after that, I listened when my dr. told me to wait!!!

Well, Thanks a bunch all, I am gonna share my newfound understanding of the pain with my husband! He's getting snipped in a few years, after my next and last baby.

He's getting snipped because in my family we have a great history of having children after our tubes are tied. I was born, and my sister were born after my mom had her tubes tied, my aunt had two girls the same way, and my cousin had one after she had a horrible birth, and she is pregnant right now. So I have little or no faith in that........

The pullout method worked for us for years, til that one drunk week.......Now we are supporting the condom industry because hormonal birth control makes me very, very nasty. Horrible. And I keep meaning to get the iud that has no hormones, but gosh, I hate having some stranger poking me in that manner.......Totally sucks, I swear they designed those little stirrup tables to make you feel degraded...........

yes...nothing changes, you can still have great sex, though you may have to wait for a week or two, just until the stitches come out.
You will however need to send samples off to the lab for a few weeks, so that they can check to make sure that you are becoming seedless.
It can take as much as a year to become 100% seedless.

I had an experience like that and I never ever want to go through that again. That was one month that I will never forget!I think this goes well with the favorite brand of condom thread. Find a brand that works for you and use them every time.I don't get too much of an opportunity to do this because since she is fixed and it raises questions.

Snipped last year, my friend. One week of some discomfort, and then...ah, complete bliss. Highly recommended. The good news is that only about 5% of men develop horrible side effects - like gonads that swell to the size of human beach balls. Figuring that I stood greater than a 5% chance of ending up with a newborn in my arms. So...the benefits far outweighed the risks. Good move.

The only embarrassing part about the Big Snip was going back to see the Doc. He was an old timer, born sometime before the Union won the Civil War. Well, the Doc wanted to see me in two weeks, "after you ejaculate about two dozen times." When I came back in 5 days, he looked first at my sperm count report (ZERO), and then at my right hand. "You need a little salve for those callouses, son?"

:D

Most of the literature I have read has said it takes 15-20 ejaculations to empty out the "live guys". Although the same literature says this should take a month, or two at most, I told my wife yesterday that this is at least 2 year's worth of sex for us and, instead of getting mad at me, she had to laugh and agree (sigh). :(

Having the "twins" hoisted out of the way to make room for the procedure by a cute nurse almost embarrassed me but the razor in her hand calmed me down:D. Other than that, no problems, go home, sit on ice chips for about a day and then back to work. An additional side benefit (for me) was that years later my wife got caught in an affair :sex (one of many) by turning up pregnant:cry:, seems she had gotten used to not needing any prevention:whee:. Best damn thing that happened........'cause I'm happier now than I was then.:D :D

Well I just found out that I'm going to have a third kid. Not the end of the world but I wasn't prepared for this one. What do you guys think about getting snipped. I knida like the thought of saying goodbye to mr. raincoat.

:spmWell that question has been around for a while. I considered it years ago but I for one am glad I did not do it.:spm

If you don't want to keep taking pills or using devices, there are only two choices: fix him or fix her.

Hers is serious abdominal surgery: anesthetic risks, infection risks, recovery time.

His is very minor surgery, over in minutes, very little risk, recovery varies but usually quick. It's been a while so I don't remember specifically, but I think I had it done one day and performed in a concert (as a singer) the next day. At most it was done on friday and sang sunday.

Do it. Absolutely. The peace of mind is wonderful, but secondary to the fact you're protecting her in a big way.

Initial thoughts 28 hrs after the snip:

Ow. Not as bad (so far) as I feared, but anyone who says it doesn't hurt had a different experience than me
Doc when I cringed in pain while he was rooting around my scrotum trying to locate my vas deferens: "Are your testicles usually this sensitive?" Me: "I don't know, I never had anyone try to pull them out of their sockets before"
Conundrum: Should I have tried to get even more stuff done immediately afterwards (i.e., while the numbers and pain killers were still at their peak) or did the stuff I did do result in some of the Day 1 ache that is there?
If I had a 're-do', I would schedule it so that the day(s) immediately afterwards were cold and crappy instead of some of the first beautifully sunny days of spring, so I wouldn't be tempted to go outside and mess around getting yard work done (did I mention 'Ow'?) instead of getting up close and personal w/ frozen veggies as the doc told me to do
I am surprised how hard both my mom and my mom-in-law took me getting the V. Both got very quiet and very sad. Not sure if it is a generational thing (that's what Wifey thinks) or what.
Doc says there will still be "Dead Sperm Swimming" for ~ another 2 months before they get to the end of the Green Mile, so the raincoats won't be able to be put away until the end of June.
So far, I still believe it was the right decision to do, I just hope I am over the post-snip pain before my flight at the end of the month

WOW! I'm surprised. I've heard of guys having some problems, but not like that!

The difference for me may have been I was "totally out", not just localized. When I discussed it with the doc, he said something like "oh, you'll be awake...". My response was something like "not no, but HELL NO I won't". I've got a high tolerance for pain, but don't do well with needles (or knives I guess) when they're being stuck in warm bodies. It's odd, because the sight of blood or serious injuries don't bother me. Needles make me queasy.

The doc said "no problem, we'll put you just barely out and you won't know anything.

I walked out of the hospital and was a little uncomfortable for a while, but fine in a few hours. I didn't do any jogging for a few days, but no real problems.

Sorry you had so many.

That is a personal choice, and surely not one of mine. I think I will keep what I have

Vasectomy Song - Family Guy
http://video.yahoo.com/watch/948944

Quartet:
A vasectomy's a medical procedure
One that makes you half a man
Remember when you twisted up your garden hose
Well, essentially, that is the plan
That is the plan

Peter:
Well, I'm startin' to get the picture, but how's it done

Quartet:
You make a small incision in the scrotal skin
Isolate the vas deferens, isolate the vas deferens
Roll it in position with a towel clamp
Then you snip the fibrous tissue

Bass Solo:
Then you snip the fibrous tissue

Quartet:
Hey but you'll never have to wear a condom
When you do it with your wife

...or anyone else you do it with. We promise not to tell, like that new hot chick at work. You know, the one who always has high beams under her ribbed-white cotton T-shirt, but then stares daggers at you for checking her out, and it's like, why do you wear that if you don't want attention? But you know you shouldn't think that way because of the sexual harassment meeting you all had to go to. Seriously, how lame was that? And you couldn't help but notice that the female lawyer running the seminar had a huge rack, like, ridiculously huge for someone who has to talk about that kind of stuff. Well, I guess that's the definition of the word...

I-ron-y
Goodbye
Say goodbye to manhood
Goodbye
Say goodbye to babies
Goodbye Say goodbye to kids like Meg

Bass Solo:
Vacuum out your sack

If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were my wife. I'm also patiently waiting and my wife has the same 35 age requirement. I have 3 years to go until she's 35.

I don't want to scare any guys considering this procedure, once it worked, made an incredible difference in our intimate life, but my husband had to have it done twice.
It didn't take the first time because the tubes grew back together. The doctor said it's rare but it does happen...:spm

I had mine done over a year ago, and for the first day and a half, it wasn't too bad. But I was doing a little too much moving around, and an infection set in on the incisions, and the next couple of days were not fun at all. I'm definitely glad I did it though, but do other guys that have had it done have any side effects if you get too many orgasms now?

One of my buddies had it done, They had to cut him real good. The doc had a hard time finding one of the tubes.. Said it hurt like hell. Now he says he has a hard time getting to orgasm. He has to work at it then not as much comes out as it used to. I think he was kind of disappointed about the whole deal. I thought about getting it done, But now I am not so sure. Maybe I will just stick to older chicks who need a good time with a hot guy.

So this subject came up in the bedroom on Sunday night...husband asked me if I was ready for him to do the snip...I said "yeah, I think so...you?" his answer surprised me...."I'm on the fence...thinking another baby might be nice".....uh.....what?

Needless to say, we are now in "discussion" about it...

I did it myself several years ago. Tin snips, a soldering iron, a stapler, and a couple gallons of 151 and I was fine. The recovery time was only three or four weeks. I was walking upright just fine after only four months.

Nothing to it.
