To all the men out there...
I was watching the Today show and this was discussed...
Do you like watching "chick flicks"? If you have watched them, have you ever found yourself getting "teary-eyed" during them?

Ioc .....whats happening to you...get away from chick flicks
My hubby always bitched when I would want to see them. He gave me a fight about walk in the clouds with Keanu Reeves or A walk to remember with Mandy Moore...he absolutely loved those movies and was crying with me in the Mandy Moore movie. I looked over at him and he was hiding behind a pillow with tears all down his cheeks. I smiled and started to laugh cause he does it to me all the time. He looked up and said "what???? Man...this is so sad!" I said it's ok, you can cry, I'm just enjoying the moment. He says all the time how much he likes them and that I have never picked out a chick flick he didn't like. He even loves Clueless as much as me. That is one of my fav's. I see nothing wrong with a guy liking them. Just don't act like you hate it and then us women bust you crying.

Women use chick flicks to get rid of pent up emotion, men use football for that.

Never watch them, although I was given the movie "Pennant Fever" last year because I'm a Boston Red Sox fan and it turned out to be just another "chick flick" disguised as a sports movie.....

Well, for my hubby, those type of movies don't interest him. He is more into action intense movies. It's not that he thinks it's unmanly, he just never wants to broaden his horizons and see other movies that are out there. He thinks he wouldn't like to watch a romance movie, till he does and then he thinks the plot was good. I just like to give him a hard time, it's what I do best ;)

My actual idea of a good chick flick is one involving Jenna Jameson...and what puts a tear in my eye is when she puts clothes on ...damn it, I can't believe I'm tearing up...
We watch "Chick Flicks" together.....sometimes we both get all teary...well I do all the time. "The Family Stone" was the last one we watched.....in fact we watched it twice.

I just saw Music and Lyrics. I normally hate these romantic comedies, but this one was pretty good.

I have never been a real chick flick fan myself unless I am home all alone and really depressed, then I'm up for a good cry. Otherwise give me a good horror or action flick anyday.

I like chick flicks, but my husband refuses to watch them. He tells me to see them with my friends (which is more fun anyway). He won't see any movie that doesn't get amazing reviews. Doesn't want to waste his time...

Not sure if it's considered a "chick flick", but Red Violin is a nice movie. Kind of a sad undertone throughout the whole movie. I think that's all it takes to qualify as a "chick flick", right? :p
Oh, and DeLovely, that movie actually had me tearing up at the end. Damn that was sad near the end....the woman's dying, but she stays with him because she loves his music.

About a year ago, my wife wanted to watch Mona Lisa Smile because she loves Julia Roberts....personally, she does absolutely nothing for me, think she is over rated as an actor and in the looks department. Well, gotta say, had to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my entire life. My wife even agreed.

so what do you call it when i watch an oriental action film? my guy won't watch war films much. we like science fiction and love stories. i guess we have enough bad things that i'd, we'd rather see something with a happy ending or at least some good acting. i LOVE movies. marvel comic characters and science fiction are prob the most enjoyable..or anything with anthony hopkins..yes i liked hannibal and even laughed during it...a harrison ford movie, you know is gonna be good and he's done a couple of tear jerkers... one of the best i've ever seen is "Wrestling Ernest Hemmingway" sorry if i mispell....my brain cells are old. anyway...you should rent this..it will make a great "couples movie" tho it's mostly about two men....and their friendship. btw..i like a guy who can cry. it's better than a heart attack.

Did I hear someone say "Lifetime", the male haters channel.Where every movie has a male who has the feelings of a rock, and is no good.
When push comes to shove, I'll bear thru it and wait on her hand and foot during the movie. Let her enjoy the show, for I am allowed to enjoy mine.

LOL not really hun. It's more of a sappy romantic movie, or one with a very touching plot that tends to make most people (typically women) cry. Some are comedies and some are very dramatic.
Is that a good discription for ya?

Thanks that helps. When I go to the movies our out in general I want to be entertained not put through the emotional wringer. So I guess I voted correctly and don't like this sort of thing in public. I think the closest I came to one of these was Sea Biscuit - loved it. But I am actually extremely way too emotional and sensitive by typical guy standards and put on a thick armor outer defense. At home I am a different person than in public. I have never publicly shed a tear or cried since I was a boy. But what I do in private is an entirely different matter and my wife likes that a lot about me.

My wife prefers horror and suspense movies. I typically watch action/adventure/slasher movies. If the movies comes on the Lifetime network my wife will watch it, other than that, you can't get her to a chick flick. As a male, I won't watch a chick flick that doesn't have some kind of comedy theme running through. The other flicks are to darn slow.
