Being fair ...my wife likes my opinion and is quite confident in the way she looks.
She thinks I'm a good judge of what I think makes her look good so she likes to ask me what I think. She wants me to find her sexy......other men are just a bonus

My niece came home from college for spring break and was telling her mother about this girl she sat behind in class. She said "Mom I tell ya... she wears the absolute lowest jeans possible.... and... she has no butt crack! I tell ya it's true... she has noooo butt crack!!"
... but I guess the question now becomes.... does she look fat?

lets be fair...after you have been married a few years.....a man can find anything on a women to criticize.....
lets just say she has a great little ass....all of a sudden her sisters larger round ass starts looking much more appealing...after you get caught starring at it a few times and can't help but compliment her sisters new jeans...
the wife will get jealous and start to ask...do these pants make me look like I have no ass....:sc

well i have a huge fat ass...so no pants are gunna fix that....
Yes, I will on occasion ask my husband his opinion about an outfit, but it's usually when I can't decide between two outfits, rather than about one item of clothing. I think that's just setting someone up for failure to ask if something makes them look fat.
But I would want my husband to tell me if something wasn't entirely flattering on me. I do the same for him. It pays to be diplomatic though. I remember one occasion when I was going to wear a new top out for dinner, and instead of telling me I looked awful in it, he said, "I like that new top, honey! But I was hoping you'd wear that purple one! It looks so pretty on you!"
Well, I whipped that shirt off and had that purple one on before he started the car! It was weeks later that I realized that the new one made me look like a cornerback! But my feelings had been spared, which I was grateful for.

I agree, it is a trick question. So I ask her...do you want the truth or do you want me to be nice, it's up to you? Usually she says she wants the truth, so I tell her, those pants make you look fat, why don't you wear these others that look better. She accepts it, doesn't bitch at me and realizes that I am trying to help.

LOL that is bloody funny in a way. The woman asks if we think her ass is fat in those jeans, yet when they are off and you're getting her doggie stlye there is rarely any complaints ...huh! :55 :D If at such time you do get a complaint during a doggie style, ass slapping sex session, then you have a problem!
i typed a great response last night. but then my internet provider failed me. :(
i ask my hubby does this look better or this? and his answer is based on my body language and facial expression. he can read my own feelings better than i can.

I'm in a good situation because my wife needs to gain weight so fatter is better but when something like that comes up I always am truthful but there are ways to say such things. I think women ask questions like that to get an honest response.
I would answer honestly as the women would be with me and women always want to please those they are with in that manner. Women love to look good when going out or just going somewhere besides around the house.

I side with your hubby on the not saying your fat when pregnant-- Women who are Pregnant always look great to me-- I don't look at the belly but rather Look into their eyes -- You will be amazed what you see there. Women who are prengant are sooooooooooooo beautiful and full of life.

It is my considered, and considerable, experience that there is no way in hell, under threat of flogging, the rack, the water treatment, or whatever hellish torture she may think up, that I would ever, ever, ever consider answering this question. If there was ever a question that didn't have a right answer, this is it.
In fact, I'm pretty damn sure I won't even hear it when she asks.
By the way, the right answer is: "No dear, the pants don't make you look fat. Your ASS makes you look fat."

I feel bad for him sometimes. I think he is afraid that, no matter what answer he gives, it's not going to be the right one. If he tells me the truth, that's just more time he has to wait for me to find the right outfit. If he tells me I look great, I'll think he's lying. He always tells me I look great, because he honestly thinks so. Me on the other hand....I do appreciate the fact that he's honest and doesn't try and spare my feelings. Regardless of what he thinks, he knows that I have to feel good about myself, or it's just not going to work.

I agree that it is a very difficult question. If you have a really great relationship it should be easy to say they make you look fat when they do. I would hope that even though my wife has gained a few pounds over the years I still find her attractive. That is what is more important to me.

It is always a fine line to cross when that question gets asked but, if done with tact, it is possible to shape an answer so she doesn't chew your head off and think she is being insulted and still showing her how beautiful you think she is.
I'm thankful that I don't have to worry about that with her. I always do think she looks good because she is a beautiful woman but in the same regard, if something doesn't look as good on her as another outfit, I'll tell her. I like the fact that she takes so much pride in her appearance so any help I can give her, I feel, is helping her feel good about herself. I have told her many times that she would look great in a burlap bag but she doesn't believe me.

I'm one of the guys that makes himself busy with other stuff and fast! Seems every time she asked that question or anything about her appearance she wasn't happy with the way she looked. Then when I tell she looked good she would start a fight saying I was lying and then instead of going out she would sulk in the bedroom for the evening eating ice cream.

Ok, your man card has been suspended until further notice...NO man has a "spanish shelf booty." I checked the man book, and it specifically states that the word "booty" is gender specific to those of the female persuasion...unless you're a pirate, but in that instance it refers to gold and rum. :D

Two ground rules I somehow figured out how to sneak into my first month of marriage on that grounds that I can never win in either situation:
1.) I will never answer that question.
2.) I will never buy any article of clothing that requires a guesstimate of size.
For those couples where hubbies successfully buy clothing for their wifies, I congratulate you. For me, it would end up either with "you think I'm that fat?!" or "oh, so is this the size you think I should be?!", so I just won't go there.

I really do feel for you guys, you do have it tough in situations like this. But I prefer honesty. Quite often when you say you agree with something but don't, we can tell!
But you are lucky in that you aren't expected to really grow up. Unlike women, although there are those that don't but on the whole you guys can get away with it so much easier.

I tell my husband that the way to know the answer to these impossible questions is simple. If I have time to change it, then he can be honest. But if we're late and on our way out the door, and I say "How do I look" the ONLY answer that is ok at that point, no matter how I look, is "You look great". But if we have an hour, be honest so I can fix that lipstick on my teeth and the big piece of hair that's sticking up on top of my head. there. and the pants never, ever, ever, make me or anyone else look fat.

i asked DH once "hon, do these pants make me look fat?"...
he replied, "it's not the pants -- it's your hips!"
