This is a very perplexing problem that has plagued me for years..my wife always puts the paper under..what the hell is that???..Everytime I have to flip it over so its the RIGHT way..OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!...am i cracking or what??..LOL

ours sits on a shelf across from the toilet. After many years of repairing the broken holder after our special needs kids thrashed it, I decided I'd rather stretch a little! Saves us money too, many people can't find it;)

He is right Pebbles both words are derogatory and mean the same in the English language. However,the words are also used sometimes between males as a form of friendly banter or greeting . :) :)

In 1998, Oxford College (Bethlehem, PA) did an exhaustive study of positioning of bathroom tissue.
Their findings revealed that men and women will consistently install the toilet paper the same way each time, but that "over" and "under" is truly a unisex decision, except that a majority of men preferred the "under" methodology, while a greater majority of women preferred the "over" position. Further, they were able to uncover the motivation behind the selection of position.
Women --Over -- In 96.8% of the cases in which a woman hung the toilet paper in the "over" position, the woman secretly believed that her husband was inadequately endowed, and that the only chance of having anything hang so obviously, was to do it herself. These women were equally divided between the "wrap" method (a minimum of three wraps) and the "bundle and swipe" method of deployment. Curiously, it was noted that a small percentage (3.2%) folded their toilet paper in 12" layers until a minimum thickness of 2 3/4" was attained. These ladies were also known to spend an inordinate amount of time in the cleaning process.
Women - Under - For 93.7% of the women that used the "under" position, the woman suffered from the "my ass is too big" syndrome, and subconsciously, placed the toilet paper so that it appeared to be smaller, and thus, would seem that less was required to complete its assigned mission. However, it was also noted that these women consistently used the "wrap" method, and took a minimum of four wraps around her hand before using it.
Men - Under - 99.6% of the men who use the "under" method of hanging the toilet paper secretly harbored feelings of inadequacy about the size of their equipment, and did not want to be reminded of anything hanging closer to the floor than themselves. It was observed that this particular segment of the test population tended not to use the product, preferring, it seemed, to leave other traces of their masculinity.
Men - Over - 99.6% of the men who used the "over" method of hanging the toilet paper secretly harbored feelings of inadequacy about the size of their equipment (I think there is a common theme here), and wanted to ensure that the 4 inch squares were visible in order to give them visual verification that they WEREN'T the smallest thing in the bathroom.
Incidental to the study, however, it was noted that women accounted for 99.68% of all toilet paper installations, while men seemed to be more content to leave the roll on the back of the toilet or sitting on the bathtub.

Well, actually they did mention a very small minority of women who prefer to have it located on a shelf across from the toilet.
Unfortunately, their findings were somewhat tainted, since all the women had been committed to the local mental institution for excessive masturbation.

Not in and of itself --- but these women had reached critical meltdown -- refusing to stop to eat, or do woman things, like dishes, laundry, cooking, getting beer for her man. There ARE priorities, after all.

Well at my house it goes over since I am the one who usually does the hanging. Boys just don't seem to want to take the time to put the roll on the holder.

Not the case here. I don't suffer from "my ass is too big" syndome. But for some one to do such a study and get paid for it...makes me wonder! I would have done this study and gotten paid for it. Wonder how much they made??? :D

I'd be happy If I found something other than an empty roll. If there is some there, Under. We have one of the new style hangers and if its over, it scoots of the end and rolls across the floor.
