Love is any of a number of emotions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emotion) and experiences (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Experience) related to a sense of strong affection (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affection) or profound oneness (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oneness_%28concept%29).

Depending on context, love can have a wide variety of intended meanings. Romantic love (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romantic_love) is seen as a deep, ineffable (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ineffability)feeling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feeling) of intense and tender attraction shared in passionate or intimate attraction (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interpersonal_attraction) and intimate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intimacy)interpersonal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interpersonal_relationship) and sexual (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_sexuality) relationships.
Love can also be conceived of as Platonic love (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platonic_love).
religious love (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_%28religious_views%29)
familial love (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Familial_love), and, more casually, great affection for anything considered strongly pleasurable, desirable, or preferred, including activities and foods

what is love?

Love is:

The rush I got when I saw him for the first time...shoulder length red hair,
kind eyes, an experienced 23 year old married soon to be divorced man...
looking at me, a young 17 year old girl

The tingle I feel when he kisses me

The shivers I get when he touches me

The music he plays in the car for me

The look in his eyes when he talks about our kids

The feeling I get when I watch him with our granddaughters

How much I miss him when he's gone

An emotional attachment that grows during the good times combined with a conscience decision that endures through the bad.

Love is what causes me to give everything I have...everything I can...without any expectation of anything in return. It's what allows me to share my heart...my soul...with another woman knowing she may not be able to share with me in the same way. And yet, I still go forward feeling happy, blessed that I have been ab le to be a part of her life. Love is what gives me hope that she will always allow me to be there for her...in good times and bad. And in the end, I just pray she accepts my love without concern...and with joy.

I was always taught that love was when you would give your life for someone.

I think that is the ultimate, purest love. I also think it is a love that few humans, perhaps none but One, truly have within themselves for another. Pure love is completely selfless; it absolutely focuses on the best interest and needs of the other, for no other reason than the fact that this love compels it to be so. To give one's life for someone else doesn't mean being willing only to die for that person, but to live every moment for that person. True love's purpose is to bring joy and completeness and the ultimate well-being to the other person. It is intensely spiritual and eternal and beautiful.

I love my husband deeply. But I have achieved, perhaps, 10% of what it means to truly love someone the way I described.

Who really knows what love is.....first you have to love yourself if you expect to give it and get it back in return.
And everyone has a different idea of love...feeling, touch, giving something, getting something...but who really knows what love is...but our of idea of it.

Love is never having to worry about how they feel. Love is that warm sensation that overcomes you in a moments notice. Love is the butterflies that churn. Love is never guessing, always wanting, trembling, aching, yearning.............love is simply wanting to ensure their happiness....at any cost.

With that...love is having the feelings in the pit of your stomach that makes you feel at ease, calm soothing thoughts, the chill down your spine when you feel their presence and the warm feelings you get when you know they are thinking of you...

Love has an urgency about it. Love is banter, love is wit, love is companionship but leaving "spaces in your togetherness" (Gibran). Love is chemistry but way more than chemical. Love is that click, that "aha." Love is enjoying the beauty and honor of the sweet girl who shares her body, her human vulnerability, her charm.

Love is urgent, tender, humble, and indescribably beautiful.

I used to think that love was that comfortable feeling that you have with your spouse, whe they are like your best friend but recently that has been shook to the core.
Now love is something new, beautiful, caring, emotional, desire, fate. And so many more words that could not come close to explaining it.

Love is what we give, want, and receive. We all have a void that needs to be filled. That void is to love and be loved. Otherwise we are not content or satisfied. Love can be shared with one another. Love grows.

Love is patient, love is kind, love does not seek it's own and is NEVER jealous.
Love hopes all things, endures all things
Love never fails

I admit, it's a paraphrase of the NASB. But I get so disenchanted with the hollywood definition of love.
