Ok, so I was wondering, do you like a gal with makeup on , or no makeup? Girls, do you wear make-up? Why if you do, or why not?
I rarely wear makeup these days, my husband likes me without it, and I have come to realize that I am not hideous without it. Plus, it is hard to tell the girls that live with me they are beautiful without it, when I slather on a shalack before going outside the bathroom (hey, I used to think I looked horrid without it! Thanks mom)
So, what are everyones thoughts on it?

I tend not to wear make-up around the house. If I am out or going to work I dress up my eyes and I am rarely seen w/o lip gloss.....it's an addiction I tell you! But, I would not want to lather it on.....never felt the need and never will. I need something that feels natural and won't scare the shit out of him the morning after when it starts to rub off........

I'm not much for makeup myself, the hubby says I look better without it anyway. He says he's always loved a more natural look, but I wondered if that was just him? Or if there were a lot of men that felt that way too?
good topic!! I can't wait to see what the guys say...

Mighty, I know what you mean, the raccon look is never very attractive;) I used to wake up before everyone when I was ranching, just so I could fix my makeup before the guys saw me! HA!
My mother feels like she is ugly without a good coat of makeup, and I grew up thinking that I must be too, but I think I have outgrown that now........

I do not mind a small amount of make-up. A small amount of lips stick and eye liner can really look nice. I do not see why some women need to put all this other stuff all over their face.
Maybe being a guy it's to difficult to understand.

I don't wear very much, just a little blush and some eye liner. My skin is so pale and my eyes are so light that if I don't wear just a little I look like death warmed over.

I tend to go without most of the time, just put a bit on if we're going out.
I think my skin looks ok most of the time and I usually just wear eye liner and mascara as it really brings out the blue in my eyes ;)

neat! Thanks for responding, I was really curious about this. Now,we just need some more guys opinions!
I always say a woman that wears it... doesn't need it.
And a woman that doesn't wear it... Needs it.
My spouse does not wear makup unless she goes out. Just about 2 times a month someone says she looks just like Demi Moore. I have found a lot of make up attractive to. Or colored eyeliner... kind of exatic looking.... To each her own ladies.. If you want to send me a FULLY nude picture of yourself with and without make up... I will give you my HONEST opinion! :)

I wear make-up everyday... I enjoy putting it on and I wear everything, foundation (which protects your skin, it has SPF), blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara.. Also I gotta have my lips on with gloss.. All is neutral colors, and not caked on, I don't want to look like Tammy Faye Baker...

Coincidentally, I was having this same discussion the other day with a person from another country, and was told that, by and large, Americans are slovenly and careless in their dress. Since then, I have taken notice and decided they were basically right.
When I was in the local mall, I was amazed at the dress of most people -- between overweight people in tight sweats and ass cracks big enough to park a Harley in, I noticed that most women weren't wearing makeup. I saw enough guys wearing undershirts (usually with chili stains on it), not having shaved for a couple days, to last me forever.
I don't know how it is in other countries -- but, next time you go shopping, take a serious look around.
Sounds like a no-win situation to me! Do you care to elaborate?

I don't wear make-up at work because the worst thing you can do for your skin is wear cosmetics when you're exercising. I have a pretty good complexion though, so I don't worry about it.
I always wear a bit of mascara and lip gloss no matter where I'm going or who I'm seeing. I just feel better with it on. If I'm going out for lunch or dinner, or somewhere special, I'll wear lipstick, eyeliner and shadow. I keep it pretty simple and natural looking.

I really like it when she's not wearing makeup...I always want to be with "the real her". I'm OK with maybe a light base and some eyeliner if you're going our to something a little more formal. But more than that and I am not seeing the person I'm with.

yeh werks for me......
but there are times i want to see her painted up... slutty... then drag her into the dungeon and.. ummm welll use her body..... :D
Think we are missing the point here, make-up is used (or should be) to accentuate a woman's natural beauty, thus highlighting our best features. Women who put make-up on with a trowel are doing so perhaps because of insecurities, a mask so to speak!

I don't wear makeup around the house; and because I work full-time from my home office as a consultant, have 2 dogs, cats, 3 children (one visually impaired), and a disabled mother to care for...there are days at a time I don't leave the house/grounds! Fortunately the house is moderately big, about 7000 sq ft. (Housing is very inexpensive where we live.) So I don't go so stir crazy and I do spend most my free time outside.
I have to note that I'm not ignoring my husband's feelings/needs when I don't wear makeup; he likes me better without it. He has told me, and I assume he's being honest, that the three things he likes best about me physically are my eye color, my long hair, and large breasts. I do keep my hair long and that really is basically just for him. Of course the eye color and breasts are just there all the time. ;)
However, when I go out I at least put on mascara and lipstick. This is an old holdover from my Aunt who told me when I was young that "there's no excuse for a woman to leave the house barefaced."
We are Southern. :)

Around the house I don't wear any. When I do wear makeup, it's very minimal. Light foundation or dust some powder across my face, a little blush, mascara, lipgloss, and that's it. I don't like to make a big fuss about it.

I like little or no makeup. I have had to work with my wife early on since she would paint it on thick. I kept telling her that her natural beauty was so much nicer than the blue or turquose blaring out from her makeup.
Now makeup that is not distracting, but rather enhances the natural beauty is awesome. What I mean is I like make up when you don't know it is there. My wife has awesome eyes and she wears mascara. I could get lost in those eyes.
So my vote was for no makeup, but I would have liked a vote for no visible makeup.

When I'm home I don't wea any. When I go out or go to work I do. I love the mineral powders, they are great for your skin and they give you a flawless complection without looking like your wearing anything. I do wear more on my eyes, usually rich brown tones with a lot of blending and shading, a little eye liner and mascara thats pretty much it for me. Well except lip stick wow I love the stuff that will stay on for 12 hours or last through 3 blow jobs! :D
Sounds like a no-win situation to me! Do you care to elaborate?
Oh you should know me by now Jazzy. I would love to elaborate.
Lets take my wife for instance..... (since thats who I see everyday) She RARELY wears make up. But like Spare said right above your post, her looks are ruined by the way she dresses. We run and do errands all day on a Saturday and she will not wear make up, which is fine but dresses like a slob, not to seem harsh. She will wear sweats with holes in them or oversized t-shirts and flip flops. I don't expect her to walk out the house looking like a diamond everytime. She IS a very beautiful woman with no make up... but ruins it by the way she dresses.
Ladies, don't try to give me reasons why she is the way she is.. I know why. :)
On the other hand... some women can't live without make up and dressing nicely everytime thy are seen. Its almost an obsession for them. They are usually insecure about themselves and care about what others think of them. These types of women, I tend to not like to look at because they over do it.
Why can't women just walk around naked (solve the dress problem) and wear no make up (to show thier true beauty)??

Makeup to enhance one's beauty is appropriate -- putting it on with a trowel (I love that imagery, Jen!!) is not.
I'm just curious why women, or men, for that matter, don't want to put their best foot forward -- is it that they don't want to be bothered, or is it that they don't care? Why wouldn't women wear makeup at home -- is it that they don't want to be bothered, or is it that they don't care?

Good question... and agreed..... I think its because they don't feel the need to impress or show off. When going out with you and yours to meet some friends or have a bday party for a little one.... Why do you (assuming) dress nicer than you would on an average day at home? Do you dress nicer because your wife or hubby wants to show you off? Do they want to show people the "better" side of you? Do you make the decision yourself to dress nicer and impress? Is it a front to show others you have money? Are you showing you have a happier life by looking nice?
I dress nicer in front of people, because thats what I do. When I was a kid, my mom made me "clean up" before meeting new people or meeting family and friends. Habit for me. Just what I do.

Women go, go, go all week, and some such as me, have to dress everyday for the public. Fix hair, apply makeup, jewelry, nice ironed clothes, shoes that pinch your toes and etc....... that when they get home they don't want to mess with all that garbage. Sometimes it's nice just to veg out in sweats and no make-up. It isn't that we don't care or don't want to be bothered, it is simply:
WE ARE TIRED!!!!! :)

Well I don't wear make up in my home because I usually am cleaning, doing laundry, whatever have you... If I am going out, i definately put it on. However, I don't wear a tonne of the stuff... But interestingly enough, I think I do the preperation for make up all the time... I have skin cleanser that I use religiously, I use an under eye circle diminisher and I have a great moisturizer. (sometimes the tiredness is just present)... I have a toner that I use twice a week. This keeps my skin healthy, happy and nearly break out free. (Since I'm 30, my cleanser is a anti-wrinkle, anti-breakout deal Neutrogena ladies if you're interested).
When I do wear it, If I think I need a little foundation to even out skin tone 9 times out of 10, it's a small powder that's very light. Eyeliner, to accentuate the eyes, and some sheer shadow for daytime, a little more smokey (not over bearing, just nicely applied) for evening... and mascara... subtle again. Blusher is the same... it's usually a neutral blush that fits my skin tone with a small amount of depth to blend into the skin, yet give some highlighting over the cheekbones... and lipgloss but it's again natural looking. I don't use a tonne of the make up it's all about the application of the stuff.
I studied make up techniques, blending and so forth when I studied cosmetology... so I learned that less is more.

I wear makeup occassionally - when George and I are going out on a date or when I'm trying to make a really good first impression... but 9 days out of 10, I won't be wearing any makeup. I hate putting the stuff on. It's a pain in the rear. But that's just me. It's not that I think my skin looks great without it - I definately don't look 21 anymore, but the benefits aren't worth the work for me. Guess I'm just lazy. LOL
I do clean my face at night (Proactiv) and I put a light sunscreen on when I'm going to be outside a lot.

Even when I was younger I never cared for girls/women with make up. This was bolstered as my daughters grew up In the teen years they piled it on and I would beg them to cut down. as they neared 17 they were listening and got to almost none, their natural beauty showed thru. Personally my daughters are beautiful then and now. That is my thoughts on women in general, let their natural self show.

I can't speak for everyone on here but I wear make-up even when I'm at home. I guess I was brought up that one should always look their best. Now I agree the Tammy Faye Bakers out there are pretty scary, but I don't think there's anything wrong with bringing out your best features with a little makeup.

It depends. Some women know how to use subtle accents that make them look gorgeous. But then there are those who like like night of the living dead.
There's this lady who comes into the store and she has what looks like a face lift gone terribly wrong. She has this permanent grin. Kind of a side grin.
