Two Wolves

One eveing an old cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside of people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two "Wolves" inside us all.

One is evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?" the old cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

That is so much the truth and most of us go up and down in both of those areas.....I sad to say but the bad usually takes over the good but we pray the good comes out in all of us....

In Texas we shoot both wolves, leave their carcasses in the field for crows and hang their heads on a fence to warn all the other wolves. We should all be so lucky.

I used to work in the book industry and had an opportunity to spend an afternoon with Robert Bateman, the artist, who is also an active environmentalist. He told me something that really stayed with me.
He said that by the age of ten, a child can identify over 1000 brands by their logo, but can't name the flora and fauna in their own backyard. At the time I didn't know if I would ever want to have children, but nonetheless I thought it was a bleak indication of our society's shortcomings.
Now that I am a mom, I make teaching my son about the world around him a priority.
I think I'm doing okay so far - just yesterday morning, my son was doing his usual running commentary about who was at the bird feeder in our yard and he reported that Mr and Mrs Cardinal were there, Mr and Mrs Mourning Dove had stopped by but were gone, and that a little fat wren was pecking on the ground.
That's music to my ears.

Hi flirtyCoach! You intrigue me with your post, but I need to understand what you are getting at. Do you think us married people should spend as much energy with our spouse that we do with our friends on here?
