you find it and I will add it:boobs:
I have a suggestion for one we should delete, and that's :lmao.
I hereby declare it's been used beyond a reasonable amount to the extent that it has lost its impact and is annoying. Many people think that posting it three or four times constitutes a post worthy of counting towards their total, when really it's just a copout for not making an effort to write something worthwhile.
Gee, I can find uses for that damn soapbox everywhere, can't I??

The one in question befits my jovality, just cos I cant deliver the goods all the time doesnt warrant the loss of the smileys. Sometimes it helps the writer immensley, so I think the smileys should be left as they are, they are not hurting anyone.
I wasn't suggesting removing all of them Dave. I just think certain ones get overused and lose their appeal. Posting a row of lmao's is an easy way for members to boost their number of posts -which seems so important to some; why I don't know- but lacks imagination and is tiresome when one opens their email and finds 26 posts, all including at least one :lmao .
To me, it's the equivilant of a laugh track on a sitcom, which is equally annoying and kind of insulting too. Like we need to be prompted when to laugh!!
There are so many clever people here who write funny, witty, wry and sacastic posts that don't require a :lmao to tell me it was funny and I should be laughing now.
And in response to what you said about not being able to deliver all the time, it's not a contest, so we don't have to be witty all the time. Just have to be ourselves. And if we don't know how to reply, sometiems it's best just to let it go, or wait until inspiration hits you.
I told you I was dragging my soapbox around the site these days!

Jazz...I believe that you just do not want publicity to hit your eyeballs, and you want to get down to BUSINESS immediately. Impatient Girl you are!
I understand the publicity and the impatience as well .. perfectly. SMILEYS are really overdone sometimes.
May I suggest that a basic set of SMILEYs be around for use, that most of them should be changed regularly?
If that is too much work for Penny, then drop the suggestion...

The smilies are ok with me--i like using them now and then.
I'm okay with smileys too! Really I am! I've even used them once in a while!
I just object to people putting a row of
:lmao :lmao :lmao :lmao :lmao :lmao
and calling that a post! As I said before, this isn't a writing contest, and quite often we use a smiley to enhance a post, or to indicate that something was meant in jest, but I'm so tired of seeing this one thrown in one every second post as a cue for all of us to laugh at that point, or to be used every second post instead of actually pulling an original thought out of one's head! It's smiley abuse! Give this one a rest!

I'm with Dave. I don't mind the :lmao either. It's my favorite one to use after the :D .
As for only using a string of :lmao to make a post, I'm OK with that. I'd never of made it to 400 posts without it! :D

i like all the smileys. don't always use them but i do every once in awhile.
like saying hello or like that.
as far as the tree goes it was time to put it away.
i agree with jazzy it should not count as a post to use a smiley or group of them as a post. it should have a statement or reply with it at least.
WOW What a heated discussion!!!
And i nearly missed it!!!
Thanks Penny!!
Suppose it is abit of a cheat for a row of smilies to be counted as a post!!!
Just afew of your own chosen words would say alot!!! And mean so much more with that personal touch!!!

Yes I agree some do use them, Im trying to cut down on them but I find the laughing gestures just good fun. I agree in the past I have used a small sentance and a (smiley) but they do give character, and I use them to create a laugh situation, or to cheer someone up. My inspiration never leaves me, and I just like the site.

Thank you for understanding the point I was trying to make, sis.
I think a well-placed smiley can really enhance a post, and as I said before, can let the reader know the tone of the reply, especially if it meant to be sarcastic or tongue in cheek. A picture does say a thousand words. And some members here seem to have made the smiley thing an art form as far as placing them in strategic spots. I have been known to laugh out loud at some of them!
My original point -and once again, I did have one- was that :lmao has been overused to the point that it's not only lost its impact, but is annoying. People use them at the end of every damn post, or put one of them -or a whole damn row of them- and call that a post! That's not a post!
And, as I said before, this site isn't a writing contest;I'm not trying to eliminate them completely.
And, as I said before, this isn't a posting contest either! Why do people worry so much about how many posts they have?! Just say what you want, be yourself, and have fun!
*dragging my beat-up and broken soapbox home for some much-needed repairs*

Believe me they are already overlapping! ;)
Oh goodie!! There's lists being written! *doing my happy dance* Do you need another pen Firefly? Are you comfy in that chair? A drink perhaps? Or foot massage? Take your sweet time honey! No-o hurry. Just relax and let your imagination run wild.
Want me to take notes?
Don't forget to add Barksy to the list!

I've already gone through 2 pens......but I think I am settled in good. Though I sure wouldn't turn down a massage (anywhere you feel like massaging;) )
Ok....now I have to get busy....hope I have enough paper!
See Barks....Jazzy told me I could take my time. You want a complete list, right?

I don't know if it's possible for new smilies to be created. But often when I'm posting, I find myself wishing for a certain kind of smilie that we don't currently have.
For example, a "wow that makes me horny" smilie. Maybe that's what this one is :whee: but I haven't been sure if that one is just a crazy person.
Maybe a sexier kiss would be nice too. :kk is cute and friendly. This one :knuddel: is called "knuddel" and I don't know what in the hell that word even means!
What are some other smilies you wish we had? And how might we get them?
i assume you've found where you can click for more smilies (about 50 total i think). gives you more options. i still don't always find the perfect smilie, but there are a lot of options there.

Hoss asked for new smiles a while ago and I got lazy and forgot. I promis this time though if you find them and they will work I will add some.
