Not much, Dave.... after all it was the 70's. Fast cars, drag strips and auto shop. Hangin out at Burger King to race the Micky D's crowd... and the back seat of a Cuda and a kick ass 1969 Mustang with a 428 Super Cobra Jet engine. (no not cuda's back seat... I'm talkin about the car not the person!)

Thanks for the memories!

Some of the best years of my life...... organized sports..... close group of friends (we called ourselves the 'Magnificent 7') .. first girlfriend which lasted 4 years... lotsa time spent with her in my favorite spots down by the river ... working summers at my grandfather's ranch in the remote foothills of the 'Crazy Mountains' ... hunting and fishing trips with my Dad .....

Hmmmmm..... Let's see if I can remember. I was 18 in 1974 and that's the year I graduated from high school. My dad died in 1972 so I started working to help out my mom. I didn't play football or baseball in my senior year. All that work did get me a 1971 Buick GS convertable though. Burnt Orange with a black top and black bucket seats. Micky Thomson's with Crager SS mags. It had a killer 8 track! Music? Beach Boys, CCR, Motown, just listen to the oldies station and relive it now.
Didn't get laid until I was 18. (She became an exotic dancer) I smoked a lot of pot, drank a lot of beer (Shlitz), and drove way too fast. I just missed the draft. Moved into my first apartment at 19. Dumped my girlfriend for another girl who became my wife. (that was a mistake)
All in all it was an interesting time in my life but I wouldn't go back there.

Ok -- let's see.

1) Focused on getting laid.
2) Worried about the football game on Saturday.
3) Hung out downtown and watched the girls.
4) Had to have the baddest ride in town.
5) Worried about getting laid.
6) Tried to hide from authority figures.
7) Wanted to be cool
8) Tried and tried to get laid.

So, how were my teenage years any different than now??

Lets see ....

Riding down a 20% slope canyon road on a bycycle at 58 MPH
Sliding down a moss covered spillway into the Colorado river
Partying with my redneck friends
shooting birds at the above parties
birds were actully other redneck friends in trees
my first car: '59 Ford F-100 short narrow bed
It's a wonder I ever even survived! ..... Or did I?!:D

I remember when I was a senior in HS that I had more days to do in detention (I think they call it "time out" now) than there was days left in the school year.

I worked every day of my teen years, moved out on my own at 16, had a 97% average, and skipped school almost daily. Drank too much, smoked too much, had sex too much, sang in a band, did modelling stints to make good money, lived on coffee and nicoteine mostly. Had a kick ass stereo, and hung the turntable by chains from the ceiling so the record wouldn't skip during parties!! A wild and wonderful time that I wouldn't change a bit, but I wouldn't do it again either!!

I used to drive the teachers crazy because I'd miss half the classes, then saunter in for a test and ace it. Good thing too, because night school would have cut into my busy schedule!!

Dave, I am Canadian. I have no idea what cigarettes you can get in the states. I only know I could never smoke American cigarettes. They made me sick. Now I'm a reformed smoker and they all make me sick. I'm actually allergic to cigarette smoke now, and I used to smoke over a pack a day! Talk about things that make you go hmm!

Been a bit of this a bit of that, bloody computer let me down after all my efforts, penny came to the rescue, I got in a proper snot. My nearest computer shop is an hour and a half drive away and the cost just was staggering, so I decided to do it myself, which I successfully did, but then hotmail wouldnt let me in the site for what ever reason and I just got angry, you see this site is now my family a family I didnt have , ie friendly, warm and caring site.

I had a kickass stereo in my 67 Firebird and loved cruising to Ac/Dc, Areosmith, Molly hatchet, Springsteen ,and so on . Favorite make-out area on state land a couple of miles in the woods . Campfires , partying , and lots of getting down . I had long hair but was a jock . Loved to party - to much . I had tons of promise as a baseball player and wished I had tapped into that more . But I had a really had fun as a teen. I was pretty damn wild and it's the last thing I want to see in my kids . Of course I don't talk about it because they would never let me off the hook and I sure don't want to give them ideas ! I did work summers and part time enough to pay for my party needs and my clothes though .

Sunny Side of Canada? Beautiful area of Ontario and definitely not Sudbury! They grow some great wine up the road from where you are located, yes?

Everybody grows wine these days...Funny thing legislation will soon make it illegal to drink (when driving, when having sex, when on the job.. perhaps will living as well..) I guess someone is making monies to lay such a spread of grapes.

Grapes = Bacchus, eh? Not Midas... rats no gold...there...

Back when I was a teenager, we couldn't drink beer or wine until 21.

Penny
11-26-2005, 03:43 PM
We used to party on the power lines. We would pile everyone into four wheel drive pick ups and go out into the woods a few miles. Cops would never go out there so we were never bothered

My first husband was from Sudbury, and I actually lived in Espanola for a while when I worked for the MInistry of Transportation (I was a sign holder girl -slow and stop) There are some lovely spots up there in the Canadian Shield, but Sudbury itself has been mined and logged to the point that it's a wasteland. A crying shame.

Football star, basketball star, track star, baseball star, steady girlfriend, smoking pot, smoking more pot, drinking beer, working full time, smoking more pot, a few speeders, downers, sure why not, loosing steady girlfriend, working, drinking beer. Made it through school though. Pretty much just a big party. Ever see the movie Dazed and Confused?

I was .... the leader of the missfits... I always protected those that were too shy or weak to stand up for themselves. Back in Highschool I was the pitcher for our Softball which was #2 in the state. I never knew I was popular until my Senior year. I got along with almost everyone but I preferred to be around those that needed me.

I was pretty good. didn't get into much trouble. Used to sneak out of my house and go see my boyfriend but other than that I got good grades and had a decent head on my shoulders. I was fearless though. Felt like nothing could touch me and back then nothing did. Now it seems everything effects me... I take everything to heart but I still try to be the protector, just now it's for my girls instead of the misfits... One day I will figure out how to protect...ME....

I was pretty shy and self-conscious. Did well in school, did not belong to any clubs or do any organized sports. I went out with the same guy for most of high-school. He was smart but "cool" and although I was a HUGE nerd, I guess I was lucky enough to be accepted.

We would split up for a month or so here and there, and every time we did, I would kiss and make-out with as many boys as I could before we got back together.

I spent the early teen years as self appointed defender of the geeks, nerds, outcasts and misfits.
I would jump into fights to protect the tyounger, the smaller and the weaker.
I would party on the weekends with the cool kids, you know, the underage drinking,
smoking pot, listening to loud music, and experimentation with the " other drugs"

My latter teen years were spent in juvenille detention.

I was kinda halfway between good n bad.
As far as dress? I was the chick, running around in ripped up jeans
Iron Maiden jerseys, leather jacket and sneakers.

I wouldn't choose to relive my teenage years as they were. But if you'd let me start over with even a little of the knowledge and wisdom(?) I've picked up since..... If nothing else, it would have been nice to have had some clue what I was doing the first time I (fill in the blank - too many to list).

Woefully uncool but somewhat popular because I sang and edited the school paper, so a step or two away from abject loserdom. Wanted to hang out with the D&D geeks but never did because some part of me thought that if I didn't I could fit in with the cool kids. More angst than was healthy and an unnerving need to be Molly Ringwald.

Your typical 80s childhood. :sg

I spent most of it trying to find myself. I started dating my (now) husband when I was in 11th grade, but he went to a different school, so I was basically free to explore on my own. Problem was, I liked exploring the security officers and the teachers as much as my peers, LOL. Sheesh.

Teen age years; lets see, football, women, In the band partyin, Women, football, In the band partyin. yeah ok, I remember, The women were intimidating, the football was the great release and I could play Eruption by Van Halen on my Strat if I had enough alcohol not to think about it. And I made some pretty good money off the guitars I bought.

For me my teenage years were full of death and destruction. Growing up in Los Angeles and being the only white kid in a mexican neighborhood was rough. A lot of gang violence and drugs. I am glad that I lived those years but I would never go back to them or my old neighborhood.

Teen years..hmmm -

Clothes - bell bottom pants, tank tops, platform shoes
School - yes, went there...wish now I had applied myself, but at the time I just wanted to get through it.
Sex - are you kidding me????

What I remember most about my teen years is going to school, working every weekend and several days during the week, swimming every chance I could get.....then marrying at 18

Lots of girls, beer, and working to pay for it all
