I just wish I could remember mine. I haven't remembered any in a long time, except for a small snippet the other night about knocking over a glass of a red drink onto the carpet. Woke me out of a dead sleep but that is it. Although, I know I have some real good ones (especially about you, my dear) but just wish I knew what they were so I could share them with you. :kk

I really feel they are just me getting things out of my system.....fears, wants, deep thoughts and often things I really miss from my past.

I have a hard time remembering my dreams too.Just bits and peices.A buddy of mine once told me that some dreams can tell you about past lives. He gave me a book to read on it,but it was too DEEP for me.You never know what they mean.I think it's everyday life and stress that cause dreams or nightmares. It all depends on the mood or the stress in your life.Fears, douts, pressures from work or personal situations.Just a taught.

Lately I've only been remembering the nightmares. I wish I could remember some good ones instead, it's been a while since I've remembered a nice dream or even just a strange one would be better.

Do any of you ever have dreams that can be interpreted as premonitions? Like I had this dream the other day......

My husband had come into some money....about 7,000,000. He sat back on the couch, threw his legs up and stopped looking for a job.

He actually had an interview that day with a company in which we really knew nothing about. He didn't tell me about the interview until after I woke up and after I had my dream. He said that he had the potential to make 70,000 a year with bonuses and benefits. I am wondering if the dream was a premonition to the interview........

Let me start with a disclaimer that I am a very gentle and loving person. However, I have ALWAYS had nightmares. I have very disturbing dreams sometimes...well, actually, a lot. I do have some recurring dreams that happen every other month or so. My most vivid and recurring dreams revolve around my Catholic upbringing. I dream that someone I love (or the house that I grew up in) is possessed. In my dream, it is up to me to save the day. I usually wake up screaming the "Our Father" before I become possessed myself. How much does a therapist cost?

I will have extremely scary, dreams, incredibly erotic dreams, and others that just make no sense what so ever. My favorite dream? Dunking a basketball!!! Or it may have been the foursome with my wife and two of her female friends, but the dunking one was pretty cool.

When I was a kid I had this reacurring nightmare of me and my brother getting kidnapped.....when I woke up from it, it would pick up right where it left off the nexrt night, this went on for months....then my parents divorced, where we lived in Pennsylvaina and moved us to Colorado...now to me that my dreame was telling me something... I feel some dreams have some hidden meanings but some are, are own imagination and every day stress coming out...and even fantasies...it is up to us to interpet them into our everyday waking lives......

Most nights I don't dream, I hear that comes from not sleeping well. But the only time I remember dreaming is when I win the lottery or something goofy like that.

I had one last night, don't remember much of it though. There was glimpses of a certain someone in them, dressed scantilly in white lace with her beautiful long hair blowing in the breeze but that is all I can remember, however a part of me, when I woke up this morning, remembered the whole thing!!! :D

I had another bad dream lastnight. I woke up crying as I usually do, but was able to go back to sleep fairly quickly. In most of the bad dreams I can remember, I'm being attacked by some animal(s). It's usually flying cockroaches or something. Lastnight it was these horse looking animals and they were biting my face and head. In my dreams there is always someone near me, but not close enough to hear me calling out for help. Ok, I know I'm a freak.....but can anyone shed some light on this? I realize that these are only opinions........

Causes Of Nightmares

In general, stress, trauma, fears, insecurities, feelings of inadequacy, health problems, marital issues, etc may all be reasons for having nightmares:

Childhood and Family - Present nightmares can be rooted in past neglect and trauma from childhood. From lack of love, neglect, alcoholism, to severe abuse, family members can be the most destructive influence on a person's life. Nightmares may be a sign of such inner turmoil.

Life - The way your life is going and the larger society as a whole can contribute to nightmares. Your perception of the world, heath, natural disasters, criticism about politics, finances, crime in the streets and your inability to control such events may sometimes lead to nightmares.

Relationships - Your intimate relationships and your daily interactions with people can also be a source of your nightmares. Marital difficulties or pregnancy are other possible causes.. You may be paranoid about how your think others perceive you or fear that others do not understand and see who you really are. Isolation and unhappiness may appear in nightmares as abandonment and loneliness.

Stress - The way you handle and deal with stress can trigger nightmares. Nightmares are a normal response to unacceptable levels of fear and stress. People diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder frequently have nightmares about their traumatic event, like war, rape, death of a loved one, car accident, plane crash, terrorism, etc.

Work - Since most of us spend the majority of our day at work, it is no surprise that work-related issues are a common source for your nightmares. Stress, job security (or there lack of), change in jobs, co-workers, unresolved work problems, or general dissatisfaction with what you do can manifest into a nightmare. The nightmare may reflect feelings of frustration and an inability to control your work-related issues. People in high-stress level or high-risk jobs often report of having nightmares. Nightmares of this nature may appear as you being attacked, chased, or being out of control.

Having nightmares are normal, but a high frequency of nightmares can be a sign of being overwhelmed and excessive stress which should be dealt with. Nightmares can be an important resource for self-knowledge and emotional discovery. They convey an important message and help clear up the conflict in your life. it is important to distance yourself and work pass the emotional content (fear, grief, anger, etc.) of your nightmare and analyze it from an objective perspective. The disturbing emotions may be a way for your unconscious to prevent you from digging deep into the meaning of your nightmares. Sometimes rehearsing or reliving the nightmare while you are awake and then changing the nightmare's content or outcome helps to dismantle the nightmare, breaking it down. Although it may be difficult at times, it pays to try and make sense of those darker dreams.

I keep having this recurring dream about a woman who's face I can never make out. We've dated, married, had children and grown old together. I have had this dream for as long as I can remember. At least since I was 14 15 years old. I can remember every one vividly and in color to.

Most dreams contain messages that serve to teach us something about ourselves. Unfortunately many a times we forget what we dream about as we go about our daily routine. With recurring dreams, the message may be so important and/or powerful that it just will not go away. The frequent repetition of such dreams forces you to pay attention and confront the dream. The dream is trying desperately to tell you something. Such dreams are often nightmarish or frightening in their content, which also helps you to take notice and pay attention to them.

Recurring dreams are quite common and are often triggered by a certain life situation or a problem that keeps coming back again and again. These dreams may recur daily, once a week, or once a month, but whatever the frequency, there is little variation in the dream content itself. It usually points to a personal weakness, fear, or your inability to cope with something in your life - past or present.

The repetitive patterns in your dream can reveal some of the most valuable information on yourself. It may point to a conflict, situation or matter in your waking life that remains unresolved or unsettled. Or some urgent underlying message in your unconscious is demanding to be understood.

Following are some tips in overcoming your recurring dreams.

1. In understanding your recurring dream, you must be willing to accept some sort of change or undergo a transformation.

2. You must be willing to look within yourself and confront whatever you may find no matter how difficult it my be.

3. You must be able to look at the dream from an objective point of view. Try to get pass the emotional and reactive elements of the dream and get down to the symbolic images. Many times dreams are masked by elements that are disturbing preventing you to delve any deeper. This is a defense mechanism that your unconscious may be putting up.

4. Be patient. Do not get discourage if these dreams still recur even after you thought you have come to understand them.

5. Learn to accept yourself truly and fully.

Often times, once you discover what your recurring dream is trying to tell you, these dreams will change or altogether disappear.

I've had a recurring dream my entire life... it is the dream of my death. I don't have it often, but it is identical every single time. And in the dream I am about the age I am now, and I look just like I thought I would.

In the dream, I am driving down the interstate. I look down to fiddle with the radio, and when I look back up, I am also standing in the road, right in front of my speeding car (but it is me as a small child) there is nothing I can do to stop from hitting me... and I feel the impact as my small body hits the car, and I go flying through the windshield, into my former, smaller self... and we both die.

Creepy, eh? I hope to hell I never have THAT dream again.

That is a frightening dream! Be careful, OK? :kk

I had a dream in college every night for six weeks straight. I was playing the guitar, sitting on a stool, and singing Folgelburg's "Leader of the Band". Somehow I knew it was at my Dad's funeral. Initially, I was certain he was going to die; the only thing was, I didn't (and still don't) play the guitar!
For years, I think I was subconsciously afraid of learning the guitar because then he would die. As it is, Dad is dead -- and I didn't sing the song at his funeral (I sang "The Lord's Prayer" by Malotte, and one of dad's favorite hymns). So I guess I can learn to play guitar now! All I need is to find someone to give me lessons at a really cheap rate... :D

I don't always remember mine, but if I know I was dreaming I usually wake up feeling like I've lost something... or someone I guess would be more accurate. -smile- Sounds so melodramatic, but it's true.
