You've seen the changes - here's your chance.

If you don't like a particular move, let us know --- give us your rationale. The mods will review the decision.

(By the way, namecalling isn't necessary -- we're sensitive souls!)

On one hand, I have to say that I may be a bit disappointed in some of the threads disappearing. I have made some incredible memories here and would be sad to see those disappear. On the other hand, I remember when the threads were being merged and have seen the Forums get junked up with multiple threads pertaining to the same topics. And, some of the posts are getting a bit vulgar as well, in my opinion......

So, kudos to the mods for wanting to "clean house" a bit. All in all, I think it is needed. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to making this site feel like "home".

Hello friends,

I was recently surprised that a poll thread I started and another thread I posted on has apparently been deleted. Can someone please let me know who deletes threads and how it is determined that threads are deleted? If I have offended someone in any way, will that person or persons please let me know? Was the subject matter against some rules here? I respect and like so many people here, and would never intentionally post anything that would hurt or offend. If these conversations were deleted simply because someone was uncomfortable with the topic, I'd like to know. And if that is the case, then I'm sad, because this is the kind of community where I would not expect that to happen.

Thanks,
Speed

Hey Speed....The Mods have had to do a little housekeeping in the forums. Not sure which polls or threads you are referring to. They may have been combined with others that had the same subject. If you would have offended anyone we would have PM'd you with a reason. I'll let Lena handle your inquiry...be patient with us. :knuddel:

since the poster of the thread can't ask because he can't pm or access the gold thread...I am asking the following questions about the moving of: Who has a secret? A must read.....

questions

This is a public forum..ergo everything posted is being viewed by the public...do people not realize this?
since we all use screen names.....are you saying someone may see the post or poster and know who it is?
I realize we are trying to change the direction of the site...and while it's a good idea to keep some things away from guests......I think that people who join and start a thread but see it disappear will wonder where it has gone and can't ask because they can't access this thread....or pm anyone until they reach 500 posts...
Now, I don't want to ruffle the feathers here...but as a member of this site...and one of the most opinionated ones...I think this needs to be addressed....and I won't be posting on that thread...but for those adults who do, it's their choice to air their laundry in public....I also don't think it is a controversial thread as someone could as easily confess they pick their nose....

Just my opinion but if it is a question of what others will see and opinions formed about the nature of the site...well, it is an adult flirting site....and adult conversation goes with it....

I was the one who moved the thread. I did it because, if people were to divulge their "secrets", as asked, its location on one of the open forums would have made that data available to everyone to see .... to include anyone who ran a search, or who visited this site as a guest.

The members of this site have a bond of trust between them ... an expectation, if you will, that their personal information will be treated respectfully and discreetly. No such bond exists with the guests who visit, the person who runs Internet searches, or the private detective hired by his/her spouse.

We just had a recent incident in which one of the members was traced to here by a member of their family. Things said in public forum were very much an issue of contention (as you can imagine).

Your statement -- This is a public forum..ergo everything posted is being viewed by the public...do people not realize this? -- is inherently incorrect. This site is multi-tiered. There are private forums and public forums. Visitors do not have access to some forums on the site, nor do member have access to all the forums on the site (dependent on their number of posts). When you post something in one of the restricted areas, you have a right of expectation of privacy. Not so with the public forums.

The expectation that screen names provides you anything more than cursory protection is naive, at best. As you well know, each of us divulges a little about ourselves almost every time we post --- it would take the average idiot about 15 minutes to glean a significant amount of data about any one of us... data that could easily divulge our age, our location, how many kids we have, where we went to school, what our occupation is, what our husband/wife did for a living, a picture of us, how much we weigh, how many times a week we masturbate, where we went for dinner last night, and on and on --- all information that could be used to directly identify who we are.

As for the particular incident you cite, the person who started the thread had only 80 posts, and as such, presumably did not understand the implications of starting a thread on a public forum that had the potential for revealing personal information. Most members - me included - don't pay much attention to what forum a thread is in -- so, the potential for abuse is significant.

I trust this answers your concerns?

I don't usually pay much attention to where a thread is posted either, but after thinking about what you've said I believe I will do so in the future. I like to think I am very cautious about what type of personal info I post on here, but after you moved that thread last night it really got me thinking about something that hadn't really even crossed my mind. A lot of the things stated on here by each of us can generically be used to desribe many of our situations, however it isn't necessarily what you may say but more so how you may say it that can ring a bell for an outsider that may stumble upon you here.

Well perhaps someone else might benefit from me asking the questions....and reading the responses....:)

another issue is that there really shouldn't be an expectation of privacy here....or anywhere because anyone can join and get up to the 500 posts and have the full run....(as Penny found out when her husband friend mentioned he had seen it)
you cant assume no one you know will never see what you post here or anywhere....that is naive
I don't have a problem with keeping some threads a little more difficult to access than others....and having tiers of security so to speak...but I think there are a lot more "revealing" threads than that one was and the "potential" for abuse is an assumption not a fact....
As for each of us divulging a little more about ourselves on here....interesting, but I have no clue whether what anyone said here is true or not...and neither do they know if what i said is true....
I can tell you right now, that if my husband comes across this site...he will know me immediately...and am i worried...no...my life, my choice and i am an adult...I will face whatever consequences come to me.....if i was afraid it would upset him or ruin my marriage or perhaps upset my family & friends, then i wouldn't be here or post what i do...
I can see how people might assume they are protected here but in reality, they aren't....no one is...

I am glad the site takes the security of its members to heart but you cant give the impression anyone posting on the gold forum is anymore secure than someone posting in premium or on the hello thread....
and then we come to the picture gallery and the pics used as avatars....you aren't going to tell me they have nothing to worry about are you???

So i believe the onus is on the poster or member to safeguard their personal information...as I believe it says somewhere on this site....

Well...at least this thread is accessible to everyone so if they have a question about a disappearing thread they can ask about it here....

Maybe we should post a thread on general internet and site safety or begin a forum for it.... for anyone who hasn't really noticed that anyone can access this site....and the information posted, which they can...regardless of the tiers....it is a public forum in which any search engine can find it....it might save someone from future embarrassment or troubles....

just my opinion and observations....because there obviously are people who dont realize how little info it takes for someone to figure out how to connect the dots....

As you all know I haven't been doing this "mod thing" very long. There is SO much more than what meets the eye. It's like being the gate keeper. You do what you can to keep the play ground safe and fun for everyone. But, this is an adult playground and we don't ask to see your drivers license at the door, we don't ask for references to make sure you are a stand up guy or gal, this place is accessible to most anyone with an internet connection. It could be your wife, your sister, your husband, your brother, your boss, your best friend, your mom or dad or your children. Penny has posted things about revealing personal information, please don't assume anything, just becareful.

I understand moving some of the threads has caused some confusion and we are trying to do our best not to cause too much confusion. That is why this thread was started, if you are wondering about a particular thread, please just ask!

One other thing, I just wanted to let everyone know that we are continuously trying to organize things a bit, doing a little house cleaning here and there. I can't tell you how many duplicate threads I have came across. Take for instance I found 5 or 6 similar threads on alcohol. I merged them all together. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but think of how many topics there are and multiply that by 5. You would spend all day searching through pages just looking for a particular thread. People start them, maybe not knowing there is a similar thread out there.

When a thread is merged, the earliest post is first and we cannot change that order. It is not a personal vendetta. When a new duplicate thread is started it will eventually get merged with an older one. There is no way to leave a redirect for merged threads. If you click on Married and Flirting Chat Forums and then click on search, type in the topic and it will search all the forums. If you still can't find your post, you can always go to your profile and click on your posts and search from there, once you find it and click on it you will be taken to the thread that yours was merged with. When we merge threads we try to use parts of both thread titles so that it can be found easier.

I can speak for all of the moderators, we're just here to for fun just like everyone else. Being a mod isn't about being a forum God, it's about keeping it fun, keeping it safe, and keeping it as that special place that we've all grown so fond of. :wa:

I think the alphabet and fun threads that were removed should be put in either the premium or the gold forum so the older members can still enjoy them.....

I really dont think its fair really because they were threads that could be played to add to their posts and they were fun...not everyone comes here to have serious conversations or world shaking debates...
It's about fun and getting to know people....and the threads were often hi-jacked for fun anyway....its how people interact....and easier when new to get ones feet wet on those then to hop in and begin talking....

I didn't even realize the A to Z (and other similar) threads had been removed. I thought they just hadn't been actively posted in. I do miss em.

Here's a question for the mods. I began "Amaretto's Join Right Inn" thread a while back as a place to specifically welcome the newbies. But then it was moved into a section that newbies can't access. Can anyone explain that?

I have just found out that by making the 'Jokes, Stories and Games' forum into a forum where posts aren't counted, means that any of us who have made posts in the past in that forum, have now lost those posts, so our post counts will have gone down due to the lost in that forum! Remember that any posts posted on threads which are in that forum will not be counted towards the post count total!

well, I can see your point too.....I doubt whether this will stop anyone from making enough posts to see the gallery and then leaving...if that is what they came here for then no matter how many posts you raise it to...it wont matter....they can just post on other forums and meet the quota, then leave....and really, do we actually want those people here anyway?

I have too many serious issues in my day to day, to come here and worry about what thread should be here and what forum shouldn't be there or even watching ignorant posts that offend people.. Id rather make fun of someone and keep things fun in spirit than do whats right and delete it or move it. So first and foremost.... THANKS a million to all of you that DO keep this place fun, for an irresponsible person like myself! REALLY, I do mean that from the bottom of my heart. You all do a lot and its much appreciated by the members and even from me!

I'm a smart guy and maybe as I continue on this forum day by day and month by month, I should start being a little more helpful and put my 2 cents in. (Take it for what its worth people).

#1 Site changes lately

A)I got rep points by someone yesterday, they sent me a comment about something I posted, I went to see what "smart" thing I posted... and the thread was gone.... I WAS a little harsh at the beginning of the thread towards a newbie, but didn't think it was to bad.

B) Seems like things have moved and one in particular that was mine (Penny's) better yet, that I started. It was a long time ago and I think it was called "JDIGS thread only" I got some slack for it from a lot of members and some members loved the idea. maybe it was controversial because it was "my" thread...? For those that didn't see it... it was a place for someone to come talk to me directly and say hello to me. Any clue where it went?

I would like to have that back! I loved it. It was sooooo much fun!!! I could have serous, or fun, or sexy, or even sexual conversation with people there and it made me feel like a pimp because the woman would come to me! haha kidding.

A) My suggestion for improvements on the site would be opening up a forum for gold members to have their own thread. A place of their own. This would be nice, that way if I see someone (male or female) on that I had a question directly for or just wanted to catch up and say hello... I wouldn't have to "track" them down or once I did, interrupt a conversation they were currently in. I could just go to their thread, say what I needed and let them get back to me. I'm not trying to get away from the PM thing but would make things a little faster and easier. Again, just my two cents, what do you all think?

B) I KNOW nothing can be done about the next one, but wanted to vent.... FUCK the PG 13 picture thing! LMAO. Sorry had to get that out.

C) I like to think outside the box, stretch my mind, blow out the cobwebs once a year... When I joined.. I knew nothing about the ADDITIONAL benefits this site had that you got after 500 posts.... Is there another ADDITIONAL level? How many Levels to this site? I have no clue how many posts I have now.. last I honestly looked 800 maybe 1000 us there another level at 1000 or 5000 or 100000 posts..... Hummmmm... makes you want to play some games to get your posts up!!!!! Kidding, I know... they don't count! BUT a JDIG thread only would be nice to get my posts up!!!! AND it would be worthy content and not just one word posts....

C) What is up with this rep power? Does Rep Power give you special privileges like a transformer in disguise? Is it all about the comments...? And whats up with the ridiculous number... for instance.. cherokeered has 86 million..... uhhhh.. am I missing something? Id rather another avatar pic in that space rather than something that confuses me....

What else can I comment and complain about.... LOL sorry, just sat down and started typing! Didn't realize I was rambling. So theres my two cents... bash away!

Yeah I wont shut up... sorry people...

Questions......

Besides having fun.. what is the goal of this site? Are we trying to expand? Are we trying to get more members? Are we inviting people? In my opinion.... this site could get a lot busier and more upbeat... Is there or should there be incentives for inviting people...?

Is there a way we can give gifts..... meaning... can there be a gift bank, so I can send a beautiful flower to someone?

Bringing the outside in.... Myspace... etc... theres a lot of ways to spice things up. How about spicing the look of this site... Meaning... if Penny posts something sexy... I can reply with a YOUR HOT glitter graphics... yeah that sounds cheesy but theres a lot you can do. I think you all get the idea.

Whats the limits on the whole picture thing... I LOVE pics... I wouldn't mind having a picture thread, sharing interesting pics.. whether its a illusion, cartoon, hot pic of someone being tied up and gagged... oh sorry, we can keep it to pg 13...

Just a few ideas from some other sites Im on that I enjoy....

Delete the unused.... I thought I saw a favorite members thing in here, or on each persons profile.. Is this used? Flirting Chat stats.... Does this make us feel good? WOW that sounded harsh, sorry! You guys mentioned cleaning the site up.... just trying to help think of things not used maybe...

I'm in "one of those moods" sorry for all the Jdigs insights! This site REALLY is enjoyable just the way it is!!

You're right -- there ARE a lot of things that could be done --- if you were paying for the service.

Penny bears all the costs of this site, and as such, we must always remember to try to be fiscally conservative (I know she is amazingly rich, but we still need to be good stewards). It is only thru her good graces that the site exists at all. If we were a fee-paying service, then it only becomes a question of how much we are willing to pay -- that would drive the site design. But, since Penny pays, we need to be financially careful.

As such, we need to be conscious of things like bandwidth costs, data storage costs, etc. Pictures and graphics consume the largest bulk of the bandwidth, so we have made a studious effort to minimize unnecessary graphics. "Glitter" would be a lot of fun, but it also would cost money every time it is used. In addition, given the current legal environment, we try very hard to avoid the "porn site" tag, because it would levy administrative requirements that would be too onerous to bear. So, the content of pictures is restricted. The last thing we want is a "child porn" or "teen porn" label. We don't want people coming here to look at your dick or Cher's tits (although, I personally would pay a hefty fee for just that!!); we want people coming here because they want to join into our society, into our group, to become functioning members of our site.

You ask about the goal for the site. I don't presume to speak for Penny, but I think the goal of this site is to provide an uninhibited environment in which adults can speak like adults, where they can discuss their fears, dreams, hopes, and problems without fear of ridicule or retribution. We try to walk a fine line between being a "cybersex site" and a free-speaking environment where you can talk about adult matters and "connections" with other people happen as a natural course of events.

So, I suspect it's not so much what our goal is -- it's what we DON'T want to be. We don't want to be another Yahoo -- or MySpace -- or adultfriendfinders.come (or whatever the hell the name is).

Your comments are legitimate, and your input truly is greatly appreciated.

It took me so long to write that post... now Im a little frustrated because you made it simple and short in your answer! I thought I was going to get an award for most indepth thought of the day for my post... but... Now I get most nieve person award for not knowing the cost and efforts of running a site! Where do I pick my award up?

I'd fisrt like to thank SPARE for always making me feel like Im in second grade! I'd like to thank Ameretto and Scoober for always correcting me when Im wrong, Id like to thank my dog for always needing to go outside and pee, Id like to thank my air compressor in the garage for all the good times..

Oops -- answered your later post before I even saw this one -- sorry 'bout that. I promise not to pontificate (I did that in the last response), but will just address your comments directly.

Serious Threads -- Life is full of serious stuff ... and not all of us know how to handle it. It is kinda nice to have your approach validated, or your idiocy annotated, so that you can better deal with life. That's what this site is about ... friends helping friends, either thru providing escapism, or thru real world commentary. You're doing the right thing --- if you don't like it, or don't want to help the others --- don't read them.

Thread Repositioning -- This was done to provide a more secure atmosphere for all members. Some of us feel the need to post things here that we want to share with our friends, but not the rest of the world.

Personal Threads -- We have tried to cut back on the personal threads because, in general, they are used as advertising spaces for the member. The idea isn't to compete with the other members for attention, the idea is to join into the group, let people get to know you in a socially interactive setting where they can see who you really are. Frankly, anybody can get up on stage and do a song and dance act that will impress somebody, but when it's over, we still have no idea who the person really is. I do think your idea of a separate area where each member has his/her own thread has some merit, but frankly, I worry about the cost of creating 10,000 more threads.

PG Pictures -- not much to add to the previous post. It ain't gonna happen as long as the current legal environment exists.

Levels -- The "level" structure is fluid ... as the site grows, and new problems crop up, we have to alter the structure. Someday, we will get it right (I'm guessing about 2015!). There are no additional levels above 500, though there have been some discussions about restructuring it to dole out privileges more appropriately.

Rep Power -- It's gained two ways -- 1) by posting ... the more posts, the higher your rep power, and 2) comments by other members about the quality of your posts (both positive and negative). The large number? It's the way the database keeps track of your rep power level. It tops out at a specific number ..... notice that the members who have been here quite a while all have the same rep power number.

Oh! Your post numbers? It's right on the left under your avatar.

Hope this helps.

First of all, don't blame Spare. I am the one who merged it. Let me explain where it went and why. The thread was started in the Introductions Forum. I am on of the mods assigned to keep that forum tidy. Every month all of the threads 30 days old that consist of hi i'm so and so are merged in two other threads. One called New members say hello and introduce yourself, welcome! and the other is Hello everyone, new to this.

Your thread was not deleted, but it was merged into the new members say hello thread around page 169.

thread repostioning...
I appreciate the more secure atmosphere... I tend to post a responce or start a thread and not really aware of where I am doing it.

Personal thread...
I wasn't thinking competing or using it as advertising, and I guess it could turn into that... I was more or less saying, lets put another forum up when you reach 500 posts.. like the picture forumn to keep it under 100000. I like to talk to certain people.. I like the idea of thinking about someone and letting them know what Im thinking about even if they are not online. On your staying in the group/ posting with everyone comment... I think that would still happen, just like there is a gold members section yet we are all still apart and do most of our posting with the site.

PG Pictures...
A subject I know nothing about when running a site.
Levels...
I can see the more levels the more complicated and the more work!

Rep Power...
I was more or less not looking for an explination on how you get more rep, but was asking.... does this complicate the site and really needed or wanted verses what we get out of it.

Post number...
Yeah, when becoming a new member (I know its been a while spare) I think the spot where your number of posts is... thats what people learn first.

Thanks for your help and clarity on all subjects

Believe me I wish I could post videos of me blowing my husband and having him cream all over my face. Thats just the kind of girl I am :gs If I did do that though it would label us a porn site and then I would need to keep records of when every picture was taken and have model releases and such. I know many sites dont care but when the FBI knocks on their door and asks for those records if they dont have them they are going to jail :( You can thank Rep Foley from Florida for this. He is the one who snuck that law into effect with the Adam Walsh bill to protect children. Yep that is the same guy who was chatting with young boys online. Why does it seem like the people who pray the most sin the most(heard that on tv last night) :(

Shiane
10-15-2007, 03:55 PM
Your threads have not been deleted. However, they have been merged with other threads of the same or similar topic. For instance your Ladies make me cum with your masturbation stories were merged with the erotic stories thread. Your thread how do you masturbate was merged with the last time you masturbated thread.

Unfortunately there are so many threads with similar topics they have to be merged in order to keep some type of organization. Every single variation of a topic can't have its very own thread or else the 6 pages in The Hot Tub would turn into about 50, as would every other forum. Having that many threads would take a great deal of time for our members to page through.

It is a full time job just trying to keep some order in the forums and we simply can't and don't have time to pm every person that their thread has been merged.

I do hope you understand.
