~ These actors may be considered, by the rest of the world, to be brilliant and moving artists. But for some reason (and lets be superficial), every time you see them in a film, it's like fingernails on a blackboard. ~
I’ll start…
Tom Cruise. The first, and so far only time, I thoroughly enjoyed a Cruise movie was ‘Collateral’ and I think that was due more to Jamie Foxx. He was okay in ‘The Last Samurai’ but everyone else was better, including the horses.
Russell Crowe...Part of the inflated, uncultured impression I get of of him, I'm sure, is attributable to Jon Culshaw's merciless impersonation of him on Dead Ringers, but still...
Ben Stiller and Will Ferrel appear in so many new releases, I'm actually expecting to see them digitally inserted into older films some time soon. Stiller has some genuine comedic and acting talent, no doubt, but I'm sick of his one-trick-pony-lovable-loser-type character. He butchered the character of Starsky in the awful Starsky and Hutch remake, turning him into yet more Stiller nebbish.
Owen Wilson: sad to hear about his personal problems, but I can't stand his acting (or lack of) and "I'm a bad ass, but loveable" twist on every role. See five minutes of one movie, you've seen his entire range. (And are he and Ben Stiller engaged in Vermont or something?)
Jude Law: pretty to look at and has some talent, but seems so utterly vapid and obnoxious to hang around he'd piss you off in no time...and that's my role. I actually liked Jude Law until I watched him in "Closer" and his character was so unlikeable, yet so "Jude" that I can't seperate the two anymore.
Michael Crichton, although he doesn't act.
Julia Roberts. Especially in that movie where she cries. I think it's the same movie where she does that little annoying "cutesy" laugh. You'll know the one.
Samuel L. Jackson: You will see me, but you will not know me. Your hand can touch me, but your mind cannot comprehend me. Am I the dream or the reality? There is no way for you to know. Take heed when I speak, for I am wisdom made into a man.
Geoffrey Rush. "Look, Mum! I'm Acting!"
George Clooney: every time you’re on a talk show you seem quirky and charming, but that thing you do where you look down and then look up again moving just your eyes, cocking your head just a little. Stoppit.
Usually despair at Michael Douglas -- but loved him in Wonder Boys.
Hugh Grant......what a fuckdustingwankspongeactor (though probably a great guy).
The Cate Blanchett/Kirsten Dunst morphettes. And OHMIGAWD the Olsen twins.
Keanu Reeves, "OK, we need you to act wooden and confused in this next scene - do you think you can pull that off?" The Matrix is his only saviour.
Matthew McConaughey and David Duchovny. Plus any of the Baldwins, Kevin Costner, Pauly Shore and Chris Tucker/Rock.
Before somebody asks - no, I can't act. either. In the interests of positive forum karma, I would start a thread about actors I dig - except I can't cos' I dislike half of Hollywood.
