WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Five Democratic presidential candidates Tuesday sought to officially withdraw from Michigan's January 15 primary, rendering the event virtually insignificant.
Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina, and Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio all announced the move Tuesday, the deadline for filing such paperwork.
The feud between the Michigan Democratic Party and the DNC comes as the Republicans face off in a presidential debate in Dearborn, Michigan.
Under Democratic National Committee rules, only Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina are allowed to hold primaries before February 5.
But Michigan Democrats moved their state's primary date to January in an effort to increase the state's influence in the nominee selection process, arguing Iowa and New Hampshire unfairly dominate the process.
The five candidates, as well as Sens. Hillary Clinton of New York and Chris Dodd of Connecticut, had already agreed not to campaign in Michigan and Florida, both of which bucked party rules by scheduling their nominating contests before February 5.
When you tell a lie, you do a very bad job!! The Democrats who bowed out, did so because the State Party moved the Primary ahead, a direct and willful violation of DNC (Democratic National Committee) rules. I realize you are a Conservative, I realize that you need to create something where there is nothing.
But I would be forced to you a D- (Content) and F (For Honesty), which because you are a Conservative, shows the level of intellectual content you use when you post.

Before you go giving grades on content and honesty, try reading it again. I'm not sure what was posted is any different than what you "attempted" to write. I'll give you a “F” (foolish post).

Basically the DNC wants it's delegates to adhere to the bylaws. None of the candidates have any control over this. The candidates are not stiffing the states mention here. Just in case someone may have drawn that conclusion.

Wow! Pretty scathing comments --- my feelings would be hurt if I had written it --- but I didn't -- it's a CNN article from their web page. There is not a single word in that article generated by me.
Next time .... you might want to check your facts. Your apology is accepted.

The candidates withdrew from the primary --- how does that not restrict the choices of the Michigan voter?

Not taking sides here...my only comment is that our election system has become worse than a sham. Electioneering long before election time turns it all into a stupid boring game. The Dems are about as standup as wet toilet paper in a tornado.* Few of them ever say anything that actually takes a real stand...it's one limp mollification after another. Personally I'd like to throw the whole bunch--Dems and Repubs--out and start over. Hillary's full of crap from the word go, Obama walks the my-political-ass-is-hanging-in-the-wind line, Edwards has as much oomph as a tin of yogurt...
Okay, sorry. I know this is a flirting site. Back to our regular posts...
I still need to get laid. F----d into a coma if possible.

All I'm doing is telling the truth. Which seems to be missing a great deal here.
I was in Europe, traveling with my wife. We visited France, Germany and Great Britian. The Peace Museum in Caen is worth seeing. The only museum that will piss you off, the chances for peace that were missed on account of governments acting stupid. Reminded of me of the Shrub.

One more time in bigger letters:

One other thing, this is not the general election, it's a primary that all of the candidates are obliged to pull out of if the states do not comply with the bylaws. So if no candidate runs, no choice can be made. Real simple.

I agree Bob. This farce called the American political system is broken and the people ( every mother son of em ) serving in Washington are corrupted past repair on both sides of the isle. Thats why I am an Independent looking for another choice.
The media's got everybody so wrapped up into the " First Black, First Female President ". Just like the Republicans had us all wrapped up into anti abortions, and admending the constitution toward marrige between a man and a woman ( which did'nt happen by the way ). America's got bigger problems than that.

I wish that the entire event never happened.. It has cause a split in the Democratic party. I am usually an independent voter. I do tend to lean towards the Democratic party though. After what the present administration has done to the 'constitution' (walking all over it), putting the US in a war that has not only distanced us from most countries, it has put us so far in debt that our kids, kids..will be paying for it for years to come. No matter what the 'real' reasons that have put the US into Iraq, we cannot financially afford the occupation (we are borrowing the money from China, Japan, and some Europeon countries), and regardless of what it looks like to other countries and to the people of Iraq, I feel we should get out soon, before the lenders take the loans out in trade......In other words, slave labor. Therefore, we need a government that is responsible and one that will represent the peoples interests, not the corporations that are making billions of dollars from the borrowed monies that our kids will have to pay........... I am hoping the next predential administration , whether it be Democratic or Republican, will have the sense to stop the war...........our economy is at stake...our future is at stake..... thanks for listening.....Kripto

Ok -- one more time, but I don't need bigger letters.
The primary process is designed to select the most viable candidate to run for President. Disenfranchising a state's voters, no matter who does it, means those voters have little or no say in who becomes the Democratic candidate. That means that, in theory, the other 49 states, with committed delegates to the convention, will have selected the nominee without input from Michigan.
Seems fair to me .....

I'll call CNN and tell them that you aren't pleased, and you just think they are a bunch of political hacks who are incapable of telling the truth.
Got it ---- I'm sure they'll be interested.
First I did read the article, along with stories from other National Pubications, then I actually visited the web site for the Democratic National Committee (D.N.C.).
The D.N.C. Rules Committee oversees the Rules and Regulations regarding State Primaries. The Michigan Democratic Party violated those rules. The D.N.C. was well within it's charter to act as it did.
My previous post stands.

Spare is a Republican Conservative, he believes in law, as long as that law is to his benefit, otherwise, he ignores it.
