Fake AND Pre-lit!............No watering, No vacuuming needles and NOW?? No stringing all those damn lights and untangling them.

Yeah. Those pre lit ones rock.

Until you take it out the next year and the middle section doesn't light up! And then the warranty expired.

And you can't find the broken light!

So you end up having to cut off all the lights with wire clippers!

prefer real, but I also prefer to be able to breath for the month of December (allergies), so a fake tree it is!

I had been putting up christmas trees for alot of years. Then I last year I came to the conclusion that they belong outdoors only. I do have 8,000 lights outside with the trees though..............

I like the smell of a real tree but they aren't worth the effort it takes to go get them, put them up, keep them watered, and then the damn needles....the hell with it, went with the pre-lit one from Walmart this year

I grew up with a really awful fake tree with about 2 feet of space between the various layers of branches. Every year that thing came out of the attic and we decorated it. It was a real Charlie Brown Christmas tree -- the wilty sad one before the decorating and then the happy 'after' one. Oddly, though, the fake ones make me all nostalgic -- so while I like to keep it real, my tree is gonna be fake for sure!

As a child it was a tradition for my family to go get the tree for Christmas. Know that I have my own family we continue to go to the same tree farm I went as a child. Our Christmas tree outing has all the bells and whistles hay ride, pony ride, hot cider and a ginger bread man, topped off with a visit with Santa. Although I cheat and also have two artificial trees.

since I was a kid, I've always had real trees and it just wouldn't feel like Christmas if I didn't go out and get a tree. I suppose I like the tradition.

LOLOLOL. Nostalgic is great! The last three years I have put up an aluminum tree from the '50's. Found it stored away in the attic, still in the box, with all the paper sleeves for the branches. Even have the rotating colored light thingy! Think I'll break down and buy a new artificial tree this year...and a box of pine scented air fresheners..lol.

Love the smell of real ones.

I have read somewhere that artificial 'Black' Christmas trees are being sold and selling like hot cakes.

The prelighted fakes ones look quite real these days. No muss no fuss. We hang a real wreath indoors to provide the smell. Even though I know the real trees are grown specifically to be harvested for Xmas, it still bothers me to kill such a thing of beauty for a couple weeks of pleasure and then have it carted off to the landfill. When I was a kid, my Dad used to buy a live evergreen (with a root ball) every year and then plant it after the holidays. Guess that's where I come by my "tree hugging" ways.

Heck fake or real doesn't matter, I'de just like to have mine up already. It doesn't look like it is on my agenda today either. Oh well maybe I'll have time next week... I hope!:whee:

Time for a Norman Rockwell moment....we always had the biggest best Douglas Fir or Balsam Fir christmas tree when I was growing up.

Every year as long as I can remember my grandparents sold Christmas Trees on their farm. Starting a couple weeks before Thanksgiving my grandfather, my dad and my uncles would start heading north and hauling Christmas Trees home.

Grandpa would string lights around the garage and along the barnyard fence. We set up a gift shop in the garage, spending the weeks before making cookies, peanut brittle and inexpensive gifts to sell. Thats how we kids earned money for Christmas. If we helped sell the trees Grandpa would pay us a couple days before Christmas so we could go shopping.

It wasn't till many years later I discovered the real reason they did all this work...I always thought it was for the fun of it....they did it to pay their land taxes each year.

Last year was the first year in my whole life that trees were not sold on the farm. Was heartbreaking to see the end of a tradition....the family refused to pass the job onto the next generation....we would have carried it on...I have lots of fun memories.

Unfortunately we have had a fake tree for many years because our kids had allergies.

We have a fake, pre-lit tree. We just got tired of having the mess every year. Now if we want that pine smell, we just hang those Christmas tree car air-fresheners as ornaments!

We have a fake tree. I haven't had a real tree since I was a little girl when we lived out in the country. I remember that I loved the smell, but that they were hard to take care of and messy. It's just easier for us to put up our fake one every year rather than try to buy a real one and try to find a way to get it home without making it look like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree. lol

We do real trees. True story, my cat eats the needles, and the end result is a pine smelling litter box. Odd, but better than the alternitive I guess.

The other plus of a real tree is they make a hell of a bon fire!!!!

We do the fake tree thing. Real trees are too messy and too much work. I do buy a few branches from the tree lot. That way we get the pine smell without the mess.

We always do a real one. The fake ones are looking good enough I wouldn't mind having one but the kids don't like that idea. But then they are not the ones keeping it watered, cleaning up the needles as they fall off and cleaning up the mess after christmas either when you have this trail of dead needles poking my feet when I walk barefoot in the house. Bah Humbug!
