Its been a month now and I havent had one. :)

Way to go Penny. I went on chantix to help me quit. It has been 8 months now and it was so worth it. I still have cravings from time to time when I am stressed but it passes quickly. Wish you the best.

I took the pills the dr gave me. Now I have to get hubby to do it. Its so nice to actually have extra money in my pocket at the end of the day instead of always going to the ATM to get money to buy cigs :(

KAwe... Chantix is for quitters!

I asked to go on Chantix, but my doctor said it could mess with what she's giving me now. She asked me to wait a while to go on it. Oh well... maybe my next visit...

Good for all of you quitters!

Anyone who is trying to stop smoking and esecially those who have been able to stop for a period of time...I applaud you very loudly!!!

It is not easy at all.....chemical dependency is something that takes a lot of will power but certainly is no easy task at all...

I wish everyone who is trying...the very best of luck

Just a work smoker, and let me tell you.......At work.......I want them. But I am behaving just cause I know I can. Mom died from Lung cancer a year plus ago. Godd luck Penny. You are very strong, and you can do it.....

congrats penny!!! It's a disgusting dirty smelly habit, kissing a smoker when your not one is nasty!!!
It's been 4 years for me, and every now and again I do still crave one... just don't light it up! One will lead to another, and another, and another, and so on... until you need an oxygen tank to walk around a mall.

Congrats!!! I'm proud of anyone that can quite smoking... I remember how hard it was for me...

I'm sure you can get rid of that craving by putting something else in your mouth... and I'm sure Heaterman wouldn't object...;)

Oh damn! You guys just HAD to post this thread? Now I'm all stressed out....brb, gotta have a cig.

I had to light a cig,too...I smoke 12 sticks to a pack a day...I got the habit since it helped me awake...then again, one lights a cigarette for any reason.:(

Cigarettes don't help prevent my darned fine lines...:(

There's a conflict in me...healthwise and vanity, I know i need to quit.

For myself, its the only vice I have left.It helps me thnk and keeps me calm.My memory and thought process gets dull when i don't smoke.:whee:

Penny try not to think of it...I was able to quit for 3 years, I took a puff and promised myself i wouldn't do it again, but the recpetors were awakened and ahhhh...I'm back on it...plus my husband is a smoker too...

What you're doing is awfully brave and strong..Its denying yourself of a pleasurable experince...but the exhange is a healthy body and nicer skin...one day at a time dear...Your thread is inspiring ...do update :55:55

"I only smoke after sex. 3 packs a day."

Hey, congrats Penny. My dad is fighting the beginning stages of emphysema, and is going for a second MRI on his lungs today, and is still having trouble quitting. It's hard to watch him light one up knowing what it's done to him. Only good thing is that my kids have seen what it can do and have said they don't want no part of smoking. Guess we'll see how that works out. And coming from someone who quit chewing Levi Garrett after almost 20 years, I can feel the pain of the cravings. Still have to fight that urge not to buy a pack just to have a "small" chew.

Penny/Punky...you all still not smoking? Now is my time...and man, does this suck! I promised my son that, for his b-day this year, I would finally quit. His b-day passed just this weekend. Using the Commit Lozenges myself. Tried the patches and gum before. As far as Chantix, I've heard good things, but don't have a dr myself to go to yet.

The point to all of this is hoping to hear some encouraging stories. There is a lot going on right now here and it makes it that much more difficult. Not to mention the fact that OIC is working 12 hours a day for the next two weeks, so his support kind of falls to the way side as well. Someone tell me it gets better....................:pc

Mighty good luck hun!!!
My day to quit is Aug 14th...

They say that the first three days are the worst. For me it's all about changing habits. This is day two for me...waking up this morning was Hell w/o being able to have the "top of the mornin" smoke. OIC has the last pack of cigarettes I had when I quit....in reserve, out of sight, out of mind, and in case I just am at the breaking point......

I'll let you know how I'm doing on Aug 14 and let you know what to expect. You let me know how you're doing as well. Maybe we can beat this thing together...with one another's support.......:ok

Take a deep breadth and enjoy not hacking up a lung. If you've smoked a long time, it will take a while.

I cannot believe there are as many people that smoke as there really is. It affects their looks so much. Yellow teeth, yellow complexion. It is very unappealing IMHO.
