Okay, so I feel stupid asking this but fro mwhat I've read, everyone seems really cool and laid back. (No pun intended)
Anyway, how many of you guys have been around here a bit. I mean, people come and go but this place seems pretty real in terms of the people here. No stupid fake accounts or any of that junk.
Also, any hints or advice on the mentality or personality of the forum would be great. :)

I have only been here for a couple of weeks, but so far it has been a very relaxing atmosphere for me. Everyone seems to be real nice. It can be a little uncomfortable at first, but once you start posting you will see that everyone is really great here. By the way Welcome!!

This place is great! It is what you make it! If you're looking for answers, they're here, maybe not what you want to hear, but honest opinions. If you think you can contribute, feel free to do so. If you step out of/over the line, you will be asked to step back in. If you post a positive opinion on a subject, it will be acknowledged; maybe not in a "atta' boy" statement but if you read the following replies, it's there. I like it, there is a lot of caring, honesty and diversity here.

Hoss is the perfect man to ask...a very cool Mod...great wife...and a straight shooter!
As with any online site...there may be those who are not who they depict in text...but that's up to us, the members, to realize and look for the "red light" signs...they are usually there. This is my second stint here...and I continue to see the family type atmosphere and the looking out for one another.

I so agree with Hoss, I started in Aug.31/07, I didnt know what I was looking for when I first came here , (okay, I still dont know what I want in a relationship). I have found a lot of friends and support for the issues that I am facing - - - I suggest that you get to know us before you start flirting, find your "match" and just be yourself. :wa: Welcome and best of luck

Nope, I've been good and was let go on good behavior...j/k
Okay, seriously, nice to know this has a family atmosphere rather than a "click" which I see at another forum I help moderate. So yes, ialso see the hard work mods put in.
So I'm a big smart-ass and love to talk so I will definately ease my way in. Nothing says "Wierdo" than throwing yourself into a situation that you have no idea on and forcing yourself upon it.

I've noticed that several here have not exactly been totally upfront about the people, and happenings, here. In the interest of helping a new member, and to ensure that the truth is always exposed, I'll be happy to fill you in.
1) Penny - Penny is really a third grade elementary teacher who moonlights as a stripper at a small bar just outside Peoria, IL. It is said that one night she actually made $2.51 in tips!!!
2) Barkiss - Barkiss was once a pool hustler who lost 143 matches in a row. His debts forced him to take on an honest job - and now he's the night janitor at McCauley Boy's School in Nashville, TN. He is also the largest consumer of drill bits in TN, and was thought to be responsible for the collapse of the south wall of the boy's shower room.
3) Tiger- Tiger has a day job as the head gas pumper at the Melbourne sewage plant, but moonlights as a mannequin at one of the local stores. It is said his personality made him the ideal candidate for the mannequin position.
4) MCat - MCat works as a short order cook at the Grease Is Good restaurant, just outside Lansing, MI. At night, she takes in sewing work, though we are pretty sure there is no truth to the rumor that she learned her trade from Betsy Ross.
5) Cotties - Cotties was once a well respected businessman in Thailand until the government realized that he was singularly responsible to the 1994 shortage of Singha beer. He now works as towel boy at a house of ill repute in Manila.
6) Cherokee - Cherokee works as a carny for the Soak Em and Stroke Em Traveling Carnival. She is best known for her fine touch on the controls of the ferris wheel, in which she is able to jerk the seat out from under new riders. Watching them fall is alway good for a laugh. Cherokee works for the carnival year-round, except when the carnival passes thru Florida. In 1996, Cherokee was arrested in Miami for selling Cuban cigars .... from the Clinton collection.
7) Hoss --- Hoss is Hanes Inspector #8. He spends more time in your pants than YOU do ! He has been reprimanded three times for sewing the fly shut.
8) Momma -- Momma is a retired pastry chef who had to resign from her last position for making "lewd and lascivious" croissants. She now works part time at the local adult bookstore.
9) Annie -- Annie was Ms Congeniality in the 1964 Miss Steel Belted Radial beauty contest. The other contestants were really impressed with her in-depth knowledge of the different types of rubbers in the world today.
10) Flybabe - Flybabe got her name because she is the person responsible for rolling up flystrips and getting them in that little tube. Flybabe is a real true friend, and will stick with you wherever you go.
11) Hank -- Hank is a snow plow driver in Tucson, AZ. He sits in his truck every night just waiting for the call. To date, he has worn out the palms of 153 pairs of soft angora mittens.
12) Misty - Misty is the girl who sprays you with perfume as you walk thru the KMart in Pongoria, Maine. Before her exciting career change, she sold saddle-ready GPS units to the Fukarewee Indians.
13) Redcat - Redcat is the head cashier at the Bumpin' Bellies Bar and Grille in Orofino, Idaho. On her nights off, she volunteers as bouncer at the local senior citizens center.
14) Dartgirl - Dartgirl works at the Schenectady Sleep Research Center. It is said that she has kept more men up all night than Heidi Fleiss.
15) Ethan - Ethan was chief order taker at the Bunny Ranch in Nevada. He was fired when it was discovered that he was passing out advertisements for his new website ... www.doitbyhand.com
16) Geekmaster -- Geekmaster is a former triathlon athlete who was banned from the sport when it was discovered he was using "gas propulsion" during the swimming portion.
15) Shawn_N_Sandiego - Shawn is also a former triathlon athlete. He was banned for biting the bubbles behind Geek, thus creating a momentary vacuum that propelled him forward. His rejection was sent by mail, since nobody wanted to talk to him face to face.
These are just a few of the members here ... each of them has a story... unfortunately, most of the stories are boring.

This is a really new experience for me... At first, and still, one has to find a comfort zone (be yourself) ease into the flow (look, learn and listen) and put yourself out there (be honest). Like life... which means make a few mistakes and step on a couple toes even. Like being in a crowd of strangers. No words can really adequately express how important it is to be welcomed and engaged by the long (er) time folks here... Torin, the Cats, Shawn, Scoob, Jimmy, Lacey, King, Nood, Shi, Four, AG, Trucker, Angelis, Sue, etc.... thank you guys for sharing words and welcomes and kindnesses... Some classy folks in here who all remember I am sure being new(bies)...

In keeping with my new policy of full disclosure, I think it's time to tell you the M&F secret handshake.
It's really quite simple, and very effective .....
Person #1 holds out their right hand, a clenched fist, with the thumb extended into the air.
Person #2 grasps the thumb, closing their fingers around it,and then moving their fist up and down the thumb rapidly.
You can be assured that the person acknowledging your handshake is either a) an M&F member, or b) my client from Tuesday night.

The pleasure has been ours! You're right we do remember being newbies. I have to say that this site is rare in comparison with others when it comes to newbies. We do try to make everyone feel welcome and include them, if it weren't true most of us wouldn't have stayed!

We were newbies once.....? It seems like a lifetime ago....
But I do remember feeling quite out of place, nervous, and wondering if I would be accepted.
Thanks to those who were here wayyyyy back then....being patient with me as I learned my way around and helped me find my flirting legs.

It's funny how flirting really is a skill. Being with the same person for so long, I really have lost my touch.

I don't really understand the posting requirement. Unless, its used to keep people who aren't dedicated enough out.

I've noticed that several here have not exactly been totally upfront about the people, and happenings, here. In the interest of helping a new member, and to ensure that the truth is always exposed, I'll be happy to fill you in.
<snip>
Now this has to be one of the funnier posts I've found here so far. Annnnnnd .... I've printed it out and put it in my locker to get memorized ASAP. :ok
