View Full Version : A story of my evening...to share with you
As I watched the flakes trailing by my window, I glanced a couple trudging through the drifts, making their way through the deepening snow. They were holding each other’s hands, trying to steady one another. As the woman stepped off the curb, I saw her falter and she pitched forward, falling towards the road. The man threw out his arm and caught her, scooping her up and in turn, lost his balance and fell backward into the snow bank behind him. I tensed as I watched, wondering if I should toss on my coat and help them out, until I saw him throw back his head in laughter and sink into the bank in playful abandonment. She reached out her hands to help him up, and as he pulled her down onto his chest, I could see both of them open their mouths wide with laughter, wrapping themselves in a tight embrace and rolling onto their sides. Then planting a kiss on her nose; he pulled himself up and helped her to her feet. They continued on their way, arms wrapped tight around each others’ waists, leaning into the wind and sheltering each other from the storm.
I sunk back into the sofa cushions, wrapping the woolen throw around my shoulders and letting the sadness wash over me. How I longed to feel your hands wrap around my waist as his did, and see you smile into my eyes like that. I closed my eyes and imagined you sitting close beside me, humming our favourite song, and lifting your arm up so I could snuggle in close to your chest and feel the beat of your heart. I ached to breathe in the warm and comforting scent of you, and revel in your closeness. I imagined us sharing a glass of wine by the fire, warming ourselves by the flames and by the passion in our hearts, then leading you by the hand upstairs to fold back the covers, slide under the sheets and give myself to you openly and with all my being.
As the cat jumped onto the arm of the couch, my reverie was broken, and the image of you vanished into the squalls building in the winter sky. I wrapping my chilled hands around my steaming cup of tea, settled deeper into the cushions, and found myself humming that same song to myself. A small smile started at the corner of my mouth. Somewhere out there, I imagined, you were humming it as well.

All of you are too kind, really. As I've said before, marriage can be a very lonely situation if the two of you aren't on the same page. Then you meet someone who seems like they would have been the perfect match had you met sooner, and it leave you wondering...

I must say, though, I was amazed to find only a single semi-colon in the whole story. That key doesn't work on your keyboard?

It is nice to hear the sensative emotions of the opposite sex during those inbetween times. It reminds me I am normal for having them myself too.
