If your feeling low or sad what do you usually do to put the world to rights:wa:

I usually start by looking around me and take inventory of all that I have that is really good in my life. Like what I always heard as a kid "Count your blessings". Then I find out how much I really do have to be happy about. As soon as something negative pops out I try flood it out with things that are possitive to get back some balance.

Obviously coming from someone who is endearing, kind and full of grace… it’s rewarding to know people like you.

I don't know, if I ever get down. Why? Why do you get down? money problems? Relationship problems? Health problems? I have never had health problems and I think that would be the only thing that would get me down.
Wake up in the morning, enjoy the new day. If there is a problem in your life thsat is getting you down then change it!

I pray, work in the garden, take a hot bath, do my nails, maybe sew or bake something for someone else to enjoy. Those are the things that make me feel really good.

Take those pills Dave, if thats what helps the pain then do it. Have you tried Cherry Juice for the arthritis pain? Lots of people here swear that it helps the pain of arthritis. Sometimes we can't avoid medication.

I too am a worry wart:cry: ...worry about money, my kids, my parents, money, hank, and money. Wish I could change too, but guess I'll just go back on Zoloft:whee:...its too much work, tires me out and makes me cranky:nu trying not to worry.

There are some really thoughtful people in this group. I feel better just reading your comments. I find it very helpful to have people who have ways of dealing with "being down" and can remember the good things in life and take it easy.

I'm so busy with work and keeping up that I sometimes forget to count my blessings about what I have.

I think I found this site because I was down and have turned to thoughts of flirting/looking when down, but maybe my reason for being here will be to find some good friends and helpful people and maybe something to spice up my sex life also.

Becca:

I have been depressed for so long now that I finale had to ask the dr to give me something to help and seeing a coucelor every other week. I use to be able to look on the bright side and stop and smell the roses until my world started to crash. I just thank God that Allen has been here to be the shoulder I have never had to lean on and cry on.

Who ever said "Smile in the face of adversity" is a few clowns short of a circus!

Dave, I hope the antidepressants work well for you. The drowsiness will go away after a while, I think it took me a couple of weeks after I started on them. I took them for many years and they did help.

This may sound strange or weird but, I go spend time with my dogs. They seem to know how I'm feeling and we go out and play or just I just sit and pet them and talk to them...that seems to work better than anything else I've tried.:D

If I am really feeling down and low, I take a walk outside. SOmetimes just around the house, (but then that is nothing but a big woods) its soo peaceful. I sit and swing and listen to the birds and fishpond. If I really need to get away I will drive down to Cheasapeake Beach or North Beach and walk the board walk or go out on the pier. I used to take a bike ride havent done that in awhile. IF its REALLY REALLY bad I get in the van and leave! I have been known to run as far away as 2 1/2 hours for one or 2 nights over night. Only have done that a couple of times in my life.

Theres only been one time in my life that I was really depressed, it was a terrible feeling. I had been in a bar car wreck, nearly died, spent 61 days in the hospital and the Doc told me I'de never work again and I should file for disability. I love my job as a nurse and that topped with being in a wheelchair for nearly 6 months, totally dependent on others for help with nearly everything, not being able to work for an entire year, enormous hospital bills. Seemed like everything was overwelming. I knew I was depressed and everytime I went to the doc he said oh it will pass. Stupid bastard! Finally went to my cousin who was an Internalist and he gave me Wellbutrin, oh my God turned me into the bitch from hell. I wasn't depressed but good God no one could do anything to please me. Changed to Effexor and woooo hoooo it made a huge difference. Took them for about a year. Decided I didn't need them anymore so after 6 weeks of horrible withdrawls I no longer need anything. I've been back to work full-time for nearly 3 years, sheeesh what the hell do Doctors know anyway!

Not every antidepressant works the same for everyone. It's trial and error, if you really need one, and you don't think it's helping keep changing until you find the one that works best for you. "Better living through Pharmacology"

I thought I was done, I mean I had a 11 year old and a 8 year old it blew me away!! But with Prozac it helped, and when I went off them I had withdrawals too. That was the worst!!

If you ever have a rough day, here's an 8 step stress management technique. It really works!

1. Picture yourself near a stream.

2. Birds are softly chirping in the cool mountain air.

3. No one but you knows this secret place.

4. You are totally secluded from this hectic place called "the World".

5. The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with serenity.

6. The water is crystal clear.

7. You can easily make out the face of the person you're holding underwater.

8. See? You're smiling already!!!

Oh I had a stress free 5 mins kick ass time this afternoon. A JCB Digger went through a electric cable and they had to cut of 33 homes without telling anyone. One of the homes was mine and with chris at home, away I went I soon told the driver what he will be doing in 10 mins if the supply wasnt on, sure as eggs are eggs the power came back on, I felt good....assholes who interupt my day soon get told in uncertain words, words that are unprintable here.

3. No one but you knows this secret place.

4. You are totally secluded from this hectic place called "the World".

5. The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with serenity.

6. The water is crystal clear.

7. You can easily make out the face of the person you're holding underwater.

2) caution, may contain warm liquid
3) contents are highly flammable
4) hard helmet must be warn
5) no electronic devices allowed
6) put seat into upright position
7) in the evcent of an emergency place head between knees
8) not for children
9) do not shake as may explode
10) only to be used by a trained professional

a: Go on a cleaning frenzy.
b: write in my journal everything that happens to be annoying me.

I like weight lifting. Lots of tension is in your upper shoulders and that contributes to stress. Even a light weight routine with dumbbells can help reduce that.

Meditation actually works very well, too, if you're not into the whole exercise thing. And I don't mean deep navel-gazing. There are some good, practical websites that can help you clear your head in a couple minutes and relax.

But I'm also gonna have to go with orgasm. Calms me right the heck down.
