I LOVE CAMPING! Serenity, tranquility, the aromas, refreshing water (love to skinny dip in the moon light), blazing campfire, strumming of a guitar, crickets and frogs singing in unison, the odd owl, canoeing, fishing...and hope the bears don't smell your cooking. Love it all! Probably the best sleep I ever get is camping...and ya, no wireless...I even leave my blackberry behind! Ok, now I gotta book my camping trip!

Pitching a tent for Jelly
We used to camp a lot before we had kids and when they were younger. Seems they outgrew it and we just didn't go anymore. It was fun.

I love camping. I'm not a tent camper though, I can't do the whole sleeping on the ground anymore since my back surgery. But then again, I like my comfort too. I have a 31 foot Terry travel trailer that I tow. Boiled lobsters, mussels, frozen margaritas, going to the beach, sitting by the campfire, gazing at the stars, with nothing to do and all day to do it.

I love camping and the great outdoors. I go about 5 o 6 times in the warm weather. Me and my friends have a great time. We try to go all natural, but we do take a TV and watch movies. I know thats bad but it's sooooo much fun. :smdance:

hell...I take my laptop and satellite dish with me when I go camping. I need entertainment at times....my wife was always asleep at 8 or 9 oclock.
Now, however...when I go camping, I hope to have a different kind of entertainment...with my sweetheart with me...

I absolutely LOVE to go camping! It's my chance to break away from the crazy city and enjoy the serenity of nature. My husband and I love going hiking, and if there is a lake nearby, we'll be doing some fishing and swimming too. We used to sleep out in our tent, but over the past few years, we've become a little spoiled and like the idea of renting a cabin out much better! My kids' favorite part is making S'mores. I must admit, that's kind of my favorite part too. lol! :)

We've been camping 3 weeks this summer so far. I just got home Monday after spending a week at the lake. We had a blast! I had 4 extra teenagers with us most of this trip, so we had 9 sleeping in our RV lol. We went fishing a couple of times, one day we brought back 7 fish and ended up with 2 gallons of catfish fillets, 2 of them weighed almost 20 pounds each. We had a fish fry one night cooked for about 15 people. We spent a lot of time out on the lake tubing and swimming. We had the tube loaded down with 3 teenagers lol they would go slinging around the wake bouncing, lol I nearly peed my pants laughing at them.
I love camping, making samores over a camp fire. Watching the sunrises and sunsets out on the lake. Feeding the squirrels who come up and take peanuts out of your hand, lol they love spoonfuls of peanut butter too. Some mornings you can see a doe and 2 fawns grazing along the tree line. The kids love spending hours in the water swimming and playing around.
I had 2 boys, one 16 and one 17 who wouldn't sleep out in the tent the last time we went camping because they saw a beaver walk by their tent. One of them told me, "mom that thing will eat our peckers off" lol, I said trust me thats not the kind of wood it's looking for. Nevertheless they ended up sleeping inside lol.
Anyhoo, I love camping we're planning at least 2 more weekends at the lake before the kids go back to school.

Camping right now, as I write this, and love it. I have a 31ft travel trailer with a slideout room. Right now at a state park with Mighty and her son and they are loving it. Her son can't get enough swimming at the ocean so we'll be heading there soon. We got here on Sunday but Mighty has to work the rest of the week so it will be just her son and I "the boys", as her son says, hanging out and doing our thing. This is the first time they have been camping, the OIC way...no tent, no sleeping on the ground...I camp in luxury. Air conditioned, DirecTV, internet access. I know, I will be chastised by the hard core campers but I don't care...It's no fun if you can't walk because your back seized up sleeping on the ground. I've done enough of that over the past 15 years. The past 10 I decided having a travel trailer is the way to go.
Love sitting by the campfire at night, the peaceful nature of it, listening to animals in the woods, the crackle of the fire, the smell of burnt marshmallows. S'mores, popping popcorn, and looking at the stars are anice peaceful way to spend the time. Swimming during the day has been great...waves awesome...planning on going down to the piers and buying lobsters right off the dock...my parents plan on making clamcakes and chowder...damn, I'm getting hungry...gotta go!

Love camping...husband hates camping. I used to make him go, but finally decided having him there and miserable wasn't worth the effort. Still miss it tho. If I caved in and let him get an RV he might have a better time...but it doesn't feel right. Oh well....

Here's a couple of examples of why I said the heck with camping.
When I was a kid, before school age, my parents took us on a vacation to visit an aunt and uncle who lived near the Texas coast. They decided to camp a few nights on the beach. This stretch of beach was inhabited by burrowing crabs. Needless to say there was nowhere to pitch the tent but over crab burrows. Of course I was sleeping on an air mattress on the tent floor. The first night I rolled off the mattress and the crabs under the tent started pinching the sh*t out of me before I could get back on the mattress.:yks I didn't sleep much that night or the rest of the time we were there.
The last camping trip I went on I was with my oldest brother, his best friend, and some of the friends kinfolk. This was a deer hunting trip. My brother and I brought plenty of warm clothes, blankets, and good sleeping bags. His friend brought warm clothes and a sleeping bag, but no blankets. We slept in a pup tent just big enough for the three of us to lay down side by side. We put "Gary" (alias) in the middle because we knew it was gonna be COLD that first night and we were hoping that would keep him warm. It didn't. The next morning when I woke up the tent was covered in ice INSIDE and out. "Gary" was in bad shape and we were worried about hypothermia. So I came up with the bright idea of putting some coals from the fire into an iron skillet, placing the skillet inside the tent with "Gary", and zipping the flap. It worked. "Gary" warmed up quickly and started feeling much better. The only problem was the heat from the coals melted the ice and it started raining inside the tent. We had to strip out all our bedding and clothes and hang them wherever we could find places to let them dry. Luckily it was a sunny day...lol:shit:
That's when I said to hell with camping.
