To be honest, neither reason. Sexuality is about how you carry yourself, your level of confidence and how comfortable you feel in your own skin. I've never been much of a glamour girl, so I stick with t-shirts and jeans when I'm not working.
When I do have an opportunity to get dressed up, I do it for myself, or to get an appreciative look from the opposite sex. I've never thought much about women trying to outdo each other; we're supposed to be on the same team! LIfe is too short to be competing. Besides, no matter what you look like, or how you dress, there's always going to be someone more attractive and better dressed and vice versa. Do it for yourself, and you'll feel great!

I am the same way. I have found that if I actually make an effort to look good, even if I'm not going out anywhere, I feel so good about myself. I used to just throw on whatever and not care about how I looked. My attitude and self confidence got extremely low.
Just putting on some nice clothes, nothing fancy, and actually taking the time to do my hair and makeup really changes the way I feel about myself.
