View Full Version : MY New Year's Message to You
As another year draws to a close, we naturally take stock of where we are on our journey and what the future holds for us.
As I look back on 2005, I see how much my marriage has deteriorated and how my mother’s health is failing. I see countless tragedies on the news and ache for those whose lives have been irrevocably affected by senseless acts of brutality, forces of nature or fatal illnesses. It would be so easy to let the endless suffering and violence tear you apart and send you to your bed for the rest of your days. But human kindness always triumphs, as seen by the thousands of caring souls who have given of their time and money to help out those in need all over the world. These selfless acts of heroism restore my faith in humanity and give me hope.
As 2006 dawns, I will take a moment and reflect on the countless blessings that I have been so fortunate to have bestowed upon me. I have a roof over my head, clothes on my back, and a cupboard full of food, which is more than many have. I have a beautiful son who brings me more joy with every passing day and who I cherish beyond reason. I have been blessed with friends and family who stand by me, lift me up from the depths of despair, make me laugh uproariously and let me cry unabashedly.
Although I live from paycheque to paycheque, I am grateful to have a job that I love and that allows me reach out to others and help them to feel better about themselves, and that also pays the bills.
And among my many blessings, I am grateful that I found such a wonderful group of people as you to joke with, banter with, debate with, and flirt with shamelessly. You have brought me such joy, comforted me, entertained me thoroughly and given me so much to ponder, question, and reflect upon. Thank you for adding so much to my everyday.
As you say good-bye to the closing year, take the time to count your blessings, gather your loved ones to your side and say a silent prayer of thanks to your higher power for the riches in your own life. And know that you have touched my life and made a difference.
Brightest Blessings for the coming year.
Love, Jazzy

Each new year brings with it hope - hope that our lives will be better, hope that the bad things are behind us. To all my friends, I wish that both of these be true.

5 Ways to Be Happier
Being in a positive mood can actually make you healthier. So start smiling, and reap the benefits! These 5 suggestions will show you how.
By Lisa Collier Cool
"Dr. Happiness" Is Real
If there were a Dr. Happiness, would you rush to get in line to see him, especially if his prescriptions were for things like joy, inner peace, and contentment (no side effects identified)? Of course you would! And the really jolly news is that he's not fictitious. Dr. Happiness is a nickname given to Ed Diener, PhD, professor of psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Okay, he doesn't dole out joy, but he has studied it, plus other positive emotional states we're all capable of. And research shows that their benefits include boosting our immune system and defenses against illnesses ranging from colds and flu to cancer and heart disease. Here's a look at the emotions that can actually help your body perform its best -- and why.

We may be short of friends , but when e come here there are a great group. I always feel better after the time spent with you guys. Thanks all.
Isn't it marvelous that all of us come here, from all walks of life, all ages and diverse life experiences and somehow find some common ground? As I've said in other threads, we have our differences, but it's that diversity that makes the site so fascinating! If we all agreed on everything all the time, imagine how uneventful it would be!
Thanks again to all of you for reading this and for understanding the sentiment behind it. Big kisses and hugs to all of you!
