i have joked about it, as have my friends, but today....oh lordy was the day that i said it out loud......i married someone who turned into my father!!! it was a fateful trip to costco, the attitude, behavior and mannerisms.....i found myself, alone in the booze aisle, shaking my head realizing that there is not enough in this world to get me through this realization. fortunately for me i love them both to pieces.

Funny but deep topic. Happened to me last year.

thought it was just me. realised it had happened when my mum would ring up to talk to my wife rather than me.
There are definitely many similarities....especially the corny jokes.

I didn't marry my father....I married my child, always cooked for him, cleaned for him, told him what to do, what a bore....had to divorce him.

I recall a few years ago her sister telling her.. "OMG you know you just married Dad"....for some reason the sex has been a bit awkward since.

I think I would divorce him if he turned into my father. That's a man I can't live with, LOL. I'm trying really hard to keep him from turning into that man, too.
However....I'm pretty sure that eventually he will learn that he married my mother. :D

Much worse than discovering you married your mother. Looking up one day and realizing you married your mother-in-law!

Maybe that's cause it's your wife's sister...LOL

I am in the same boat ... been married for 14 years and my Mom told me to run, run far away because she knew it when I got married that he was JUST like my father... I told her, NO WAY... But over the last 3 years I have noticed that is is EXACTLY like my DAD. We just bought a car and all my Dad keeps saying is, that's just like the one I had... and The Costgo thing, Yep... us too with the Amex credit card to boot... but my Mom and Dad have weathered some tough times and they are still together so I guess it could be worse...
