OK, what brings tears (joy, sadness, any type) to your eyes as, say, you are driving along alone in your car?

For starters ...

any number of Beatles ballads

images of my kids when they were little

memories of a friend, now gone

moments with my wife, good ones

something a friend once said, hoping it wasn't true (stole that one)

The last 5 minutes of the "Bucket List" choked me up. Especially when he got to "Kiss the prettiest girl in the world". I get a little misty just remebering it

I used to be a big macho man when it came to crying. However after I had kids I started crying during movies or tv shows that involved kids or parents being sick or dying. These things that make me think of my connections wiht my children male me cry like a little baby.

I get misty eyed when I get a chance to share something with my kids....i.e. I was at the bookstore with the kids yesterday and I decided that since we saw the movie it might be fun to read "Journey to the Center of the Earth" to the boys. For some reason, as I was telling my son about the book I got a bit teary.

I don't know why, but things like that always trigger it.

I went to the base hospital a couple of days ago...To hand out candy to the what I thought would be sick kids that we are helping...I thought the kids would greet me with open arms like it was Halloween... To my surprise....I got to come face to face with what we term collateral damage...Kids with missing arms, legs and severe burns...The parents with a total look of dispare... I left the hospital with a totally different demeanor

The Animal Cops shows on cable. I can't even watch them anymore. I love my animals so much and to see people who don't even put food in a bowl for an animal that they took responsibility for...people that can watch an animal fade to skin & bones in front of them and not get them the necessary medical care they need or buy some Dog Chow....it just brings me to tears. One of my dogs is a rescue dog, and for so long if you moved too fast when approaching her she would flinch. What kind of person would beat or starve a helpless animal that only wants to love you?

I dont get to see my grandkids as much as I would like...but talk with my oldest grandson on the phone a couple times a week...it brings tears to my eyes when he asks me if I will just come over and play with him!!! Breaks my heart to tell him that I live to far away...that he is going to have to wait till grandpa gets vacation from the Army....
I so love and miss my babies!!!!!

Any thoughts of my mom usually make me choke up....I miss her.

The births of each of my little brother's four kids. I cried when I met each of them and held them for the first time.

A few songs on the radio that remind me of my mom. Mariah Carey's "One Sweet Day" is one of them.

I found a poem that I gave to my mom when I was in my early twenties. It always brings a tear to my eye. Just reminds me of her & everything she taught me to be. Makes me unafraid of getting older when I read it.:

Finding Her Here- Jayne Relaford Brown
I am becomng the woman I've wanted,
grey at the temples,
soft body delighted,
cracked up by life
with a laugh that's known bitter
but, past it got better,
knows she's a survivor-
that whatever comes,
she can outlast it.
I am becoming a deep
weathered basket.

I am becoming the woman I've longed for,
the motherly lover
with arms strong and tender,
the growing up daughter
who blushes surprises.
I am becoming full moons
and sunrises.

I find her becoming,
this woman I've wanted,
who knows she'll encompass,
who knows she's sufficient,
knows where she's going
and travels with passion.
Who remembers she's precious,
but knows she's not scarce--
who knows she is plenty,
plenty to share.

I think about people or pets I have lost over the years,
Movies where the child's parents die chock me up.....No Reservations was a newer one that brought tears to my eyes....another on is Georgia Rule because I can sympathize with the daughter since i too have an alcoholic mother.

When I think about how great my kids are I cry.

The Carpenters Song "Close To You" makes me cry buckets....
when Kaitlin (our youngest granddaughter) was born and I held her for the first time......her eyes were sparkling, her hair was sparkling and this verse was the first thing that popped out of my mouth...

"On the day that you were born
The angels got together and decided
To create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moondust in your hair
Of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue"

And sometimes I just cry for the hell of it....

Memories of my son,
When he was younger, in his batman PJ bottoms and his Spiderman bath towel cape.
He jumped up on the back of my couch, put a fist on his hip, and the other in the air and said "I AM SUPERGLUE!"
then promptly fell behind the couch.
I was laughing hard at him when he said "Uh mom, a lil help please, super glue is stuck"
"Mom quit laughing it isn't funny"

My kids make me cry, happy and sad tears! When they are hurt or sad, it breaks my heart, I cry with them.
When they achieve something, when they are excited about something, I cry tears of happiness.
Stuff I hear on the news, terrible stories of tragedies, omg, that makes me cry.
Some sad songs will always make me well up.
When I think about my Grandmother, I cry because I miss her

I think I will stop now, writing this post has made me want to

Okay so I cried when my oldest daughter was born...for a week...geeze i didn't know men could have postpartum depression... A broken heart will open the flood gate..seeing others hurting whether in pain or from deep sadness...I'm just a crybaby I reckon lol..

But the absolute worst is the movie "Shadowlands"...I've watched it three times and each time it gets to the part where Hopkins breaks down in his attic after she dies...I have to get up and leave...it simply undoes me every time.

and foremost on my mind is when I want so bad to carry the burdens of the one I love on my shoulders...I just wish I could bear it all myself and I can't...tears are imminent.

What a thread. So many things come to mind. I have had plenty to bring tears to my eyes. Any one of my kids being born brought happy tears. My sister and brother passing on was a sad tear . When he found her in serendipity and when brian Picolo dies , This is all about emotions. Last night my parents arrived and were bringing in there stuff from the car. They hadn't even been in the house 2 minutes and my mom hands me this teddy bear and doesn't say anything. She just walks away. I look closer at the bear and see it has a dress on it...made up of pieces (tears even now), of clothing that was my grandmothers. When I packed up her clothes after she died...I saved her favourite bathing suit, her 50th wedding anniversary dress, her dress that she wore to my mom and dad's wedding, a hawaiian dress she loved and at the back, was a pearl button that was on a dress of my great grandmother's. I burst into tears. I had saved a few memorable clothing items as I wanted to make a pillow for each of my cousins, made of that material, to remember my grandmother by. I had planned to get it done finally this summer. Well...my mom decided to do teddy bear's with dresses on them. (thankfully we are mostly girls lol). Don't think my brother will be asking for one. I will cherish it always. So many memories come flooding back just looking at this bear now. Miss you gramma! I made sure my mom new how much I appreciated it. Very touching.

Today I went to a funeral. It was my friend's dad who died, so it was ok - he lived a long, happy life. What made me cry was the strength of his son, a great big 35 year old man, barely holding himself together because his daddy was dead.
Then my friend's uncle spoke about his big brother & that made me cry too.

No matter how old we get we will still miss our daddys & our cool big brothers.

OK, what brings tears (joy, sadness, any type) to your eyes as, say, you are driving along alone in your car?

For starters ...

any number of Beatles ballads

images of my kids when they were little

memories of a friend, now gone

moments with my wife, good ones

something a friend once said, hoping it wasn't true (stole that one)
Being mairred these past 15 yrs now...for me it's the thought of a woman out there that may be looking for the laugh of a good joke stupid or not...someone who doesn't mind what is used to make dinner as long as an effort is made.Someone who doesn't mind that you seperate the coloreds from the darks when you do laundry...:wy

I find romance to be overwhelming at times, and when the extremes of joy take over, I tear up. When I tripled my sales in one month, I was in tears. When I see how much better of a person that I can be, and although striving hard to be better, and realizing that I am not as good as I can be brings a mist.

What about the wings? Unless the fat guy has absolutely no dignity and eats em off his shirt and off the floor, they're wasted too.

And that sucks cuz there are starving kids in India. Or at least there used to be when I was a kid. It's possible they all starved by now.

I'd have helped them. If I'd been allowed, I'd have mailed them starving kids an awful lot of my dinners. But I wasn't allowed to do that, even though it was a win-win solution.

I guess that's what brings tears to my eyes. Seeing acts of compassion thwarted by senseless bureaucracy.

I thought this apropos:

A Song by: Paul Williams - "That's Enough for Me"

If I can make you cry
If I can fill your eyes with pleasure just by holding you
In the early hours of morning
When the day that lies ahead's not quite begun
Ah well, that's enough for me
That's all the hero need be
I smile to think of you and me
You and I
And how our pleasure makes you cry
If I can make you smile
If I can move you close to laughter with a word or two
When your day's been full of strangers
And the castles that you've built all tumbled down
Ah well, that's enough for me
That's all the hero I need be
I smile to think of you and me
You and I
And how our pleasure makes you cry
And when the world has got me down
And I've almost lost the will to try
And I may look sad and I may frown
But I still find comfort in your waiting
Your hello
And your goodbye
And how our pleasure makes you cry
And when I wake to you
And I pretend that I don't know how you've been watching me
All the time I've been sleeping
By the loving look that lingers in your eye
Ah well, that's enough for me
That's all the hero I need be
I smile to think of you and me
You and I
And how our pleasure makes me cry
That's enough for me

Inspiring stories involving special children. Like the video of the basketball player with autism who made like 6 three pointers in a row the only time he ever played. They showed that during my training in St Louis a couple of weeks ago and I was doing everything I could to not start bawling in front of everyone. Then there was a video I watched last year about a guy who did the iron man while pushing his son and swimming with him in a boat and such. I was holding back tears all day that day.

The movie "Mr. Holland's Opus" takes me there. I could only dream of having such a positive impact on the world and other people, and then, one day, realizing that I have made a difference (positive) in other's lives.

That is what we teachers try to do every day.

I watched Sicko last night. Say what you want about Michael Moore...yes, he is a filmmaker looking to draw an audience (but no more manipulative than any other director). However, the idea that our 9/11 heroes had to go to CUBA to receive medical treatment for conditions that are a direct result of their time spent at ground zero had me in tears...

Pfft,
I wish.

I guess I should have clarified.

there are tears in my eyes when I see this.. the proud parents of the men and women who serve our country.. my own son is home today and I can't be with him.. I won't see him again until he returns from Afghanistan..

there are tears in my eyes when I think of those I have lost.. and those I will lose.. friends, neighbors, and family..

the National Anthem brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it played.. when I was in uniform and while I am out of it.. to see how little respect a symbol of this country gets.. men wearing hats and refusing to take them off.. people not placing their hands over their hearts.. refusing to stand as it passes us by..

hell, I respect other nations symbols as much as my own.. blood, sweat, and tears made this country and every other country what they are today..

it makes me cry to see that someone is without a loved one tonight..
