Ok...so, 14 years ago, I started my new job and bought a new car (my first new car ever!). At 1200 miles, one of the secretaries at work hit it while it was sitting in the parking lot. Collision damage before it's had its first oil change!!!
:shit:
In May the aforementioned car died...(17 yr. old daughter ran it without water for a week and the engine finally fused). So I bought a new (2nd new car ever), red, mid-life crisis car. Last night, at 2600 miles, the afore mentioned daughter ran the new car into a construction sign. One again, collision damage before its first oil change.
:shit:

I thank God she is alright...:))):
:spbx:
I'll just have to get used to the idea that I am not meant to have a new car!

I'm sorry about your run of bad luck! :(
Personally I wouldn't have let my kid touch let alone drive the new car if she had damaged the 1st car you trusted her with. I'd get her an old car that doesn't cost much, so that if she isn't responsible enough to take care of it, then you won't be out much money, or make her pay for it herself. That's why my parents bought me a $500 piece of crap for my first car! lol!

I lost count in the thirties, but that's the number of times my cars have been damaged. I don't have real good luck with them and I know what you're thinking- he's a crazy driver, but actually I'm not. Of all of the accidents I've had, I believe three have been my fault. I've had at least 7 times where my cars have been hit while parked. One of the last times, I was parked in a church parking lot, sitting in the car waiting for the service and an 85 year old lady backed into me and drove off! That was with my 2 month old Lexus. Replaced that car this year with another Lexus only to get hit while driving through a parking lot. A lady put her car in reverse and backed straight into the side of my car. That car was 3 months old.

Awwww Fiz, I'm soooo sorry (no, that's not me giggling, honest). Tell your daughter to take the bus or buy her own car! Truly :sry for the loss of your cars...I've been in a few accidents and know how damn scary they are and how much you really lose when the insurance company hands over the cheque for the repairs or the loss of the car..it isn't a lot. Look at it this way...in maybe 10 yrs or so, no one will be able to afford to drive a car due to the gas prices so buying used isn't so bad.

I bought my first new car in 2004, sold it in 2006 when the economy started taking a nose dive. I decided having a car payment is better for anyone else but me...

I now take that money every month and deposit it in an IRA account...

OHhhhhhhhh Fizzzzzzzzzzzz....I never ever got a brand new car until I was in my early 30's...I had it for 3 months...and I got into a fender bender with it...I was soooooo pissed!!!So now I finally have my second new car and SSG hit a snow bank with it...grrrrrrrrr
Now about your daughter...I saw that someone suggested to buy her a chrap car for herself...that sounds like a VERY good idea!!!

Oh Fiz....
That totally sucks.

Glad to hear that she is unharmed though.

Maybe when she is out on her own and has her own car, you can get a new car
and actually keep it in tact?

You're meant to have a new car.

You're just not meant to live in that neighborhood with a daughter of driving age.

Do they still insure you? I hear that some times an insurance company will declare people simply unlucky and cancel their insurance even though it was never their fault...

I was taking the bus to and from work until we had the new baby (yes...a 17 yr old and a six month old)...but now the wife wants to have "quick response" access to me...oh well...

I bought my first new car in 2004, sold it in 2006 when the economy started taking a nose dive. I decided having a car payment is better for anyone else but me...

Well...I had yelled at my daughter on Saturday for driving too aggressively...but I didn't say "I told you so" when she came home crying...instead I made her favorite dinner...The Wife is very proud of me...

But I'm no saint...I did tell her that she had to pay the deductible...

Sounds like your daughter is the one who is not meant for a new car. You must be a nice dad to let her drive the second new car. Better luck with your 3rd!
