I don't really care for any of these teams, but I'd like to see it come down between the seahawks and the colts, with the seahawks taking the whole deal. But still with this many teams it's still kinda early to tell.

I don't know much about him as a player. We live very close to Lake Forest where Halas Hall is and I know more about Walter from two businesses he started. It's not about how he played for me, it's how he lived, and it's about how he treated everyone around him.

Yeah, the Panthers looked like Superbowl material today. Never would've belived Steve Smith could beat that Bears D all by himself. But Seattle's playing well too. I dunno..... with the Bears out I don't really hava a favorite. I can see the home teams winning next week...... and I do like both Denver and Seattle.

No doubt the Seahawks are good, but I believe Steve Smith gained more yardage by himself against the Bears then the Redskins did in both of their games collectively...
I'm really not a Carolina fan...I think both games are going to be good and are up for grabs. I'm just glad it's not the Patriots!!!!! (Sorry Penny :))

Smith is a great player. No doubt about it. He won a lotta fantasy games for me this year. Not too many teams have the luxuary like John Fox does of having his regular gameplan, and then a 'Smith plan' if that doesn't work.
I think Holmgrun will be smarter than Lovie was and decide to shut down Smith and make the rest of the team beat them. But then nobody has figured out quite how to do that either.

I won't go out on a limb and predict winners but all teams have good offenses, it will boil down to who has the best defense and makes the big play. If I have to make a choice it would be Pittsburgh and Carolina. Even without DeShaun Foster Carolina still has Nick Goings who didn't do all that bad when he was called on last year. Steve Smith, what can you say, you double him and it opens the other receivers and Jake Delhomme has enough experience to take advantage of that.

01-19-2006, 06:25 AM
I voted for the Panthers dominated Defense and their offense can get the job done.
Why Not other teams?
Patriots-They had to many injuries this season not to go to far. Plus they lost their cords last year and it hurt them.
Colts- They had a great shot, Tony Dungy's son probably did the team in. Also alot of their starters didn't play in the last few weeks
Broncos- There going to go to the superbowl. Jake the Snake is a terrible QB so he is going to fall on his face.
Steelers- They have done pretty good, but if Big Ben gets hit a few more times I think it is going to be over. That means the Bus's wheels have fallen off.
Seahawks- Over-rated. Hassleback is going to blow it. Alexander isn't 100% from his injury last week.

You now know why I could never root for the Broncos! Shanahan has never lost a game in his life -- his players have, his other coaches have -- but he never takes responsibility.
Now, win games?? He's done that a lot -- because, after all, he is a coaching guru.

heh heh...... all these coaches have huge egos and, even though some of them pretend to be humble, I'm not sure how much they believe it was actually their fault when their teams lose a game. Shanahan's an excellent coach. Last week is one of the rare times that I thought Belichick was outcoached. Shanahan had the Patroits confused all day...... which is usually Belichick's game.

The Denver Broncos are looking good to win the Super Bowl if the can stop the passing game of the Steelers, With any luck they will just get bye,Being from Colorado I grew up a Bronco fan. Go Broncos!
Go Steelers here is a good joke for everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Payton Manning, after living a full life, passed away. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around and they came to a modest house with a faded Colt's Flag in the window.
"This house is yours for eternity, Peyton," said God. "This is a very special; not everyone gets a house up here."
Manning felt special, indeed. and walked up to his house. On his way up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a 3-story mansion with a Black and Gold sidewalk, a 50 foot tall flagpole with an enormous Steeler logo flag, and in every window, a Terrible towel.
Manning looked at God and said "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro QB and led the Colts to the playoffs a few times."
God said " So what's you point Payton?"
"Well, why does Ben Roethlisberger get a better house than me?"
God chuckled, and said, "Peyton, that's not Big Ben's house, it's mine,"
HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dunno who to pick in the SB. After some real well played close games the first two weeks, the Hawks and Steelers really totally dominated their games last week. Neither one appears to have much of a weakness. I like both teams, but I think I'll pull for the Hawks being as it's their first time there....... and they are from the West.

I gotta pick the Seahawks. Their Kicker Josh Brown is a young man from a hick town in Oklahoma, played 8 man football in high school. Heard him on the local radio station this morning and he and the radio DJ made up this game plan so everytime you see him pat his helmet during the Superbowl game, he will be saying howdy to all the folks in Okieland. He seemed like a real down to earth guy so i'm picking Seattle by 3! :D

Super Bowl Trivia Challenge
Published: 2/1/06
The pinnacle of professional football - the Super Bowl.
This year, the 40th Super Bowl matches the Pittsburgh Steelers, winners of the AFC against the Seattle Seahawks, winners of the NFC.
Oddsmakers have the Steelers to win, but only by 3.5 to 4 points depending on the source. So it's a good bet that if both teams play up to their potential it could be one of those games to remember. Let's hope so, anyway. There's nothing worse than turning off the Super Bowl in a lopsided contest when you still have all those munchies and drinks left.
How Well Do You Know Your Super Bowls?
Over the years there have been many memorable Super Bowls, games that featured outstanding play and outcomes that weren't determined until the final seconds.
But there have also been duds, blowouts, games where it seemed like only one of the teams showed up to play. Maybe it's the pressure, the mystique of the Super Bowl, the knowledge that the world's eyes are on you that causes some teams to play like it was a junior varsity sandlot scrimmage.
Just in case this year's game turns out to be one of those, here's a little test of your Super Bowl knowledge you can share with your friends when it's time to turn off the tube - or maybe even at halftime if the game turns out to be interesting.
The answers to the questions will be posted tomorrow .
Super Bowl Trivia Challenge
1. Which player holds the record for most career touchdowns in Super Bowl games? (clue - this player has 8 Super bowl touchdowns)
2. Which team holds the record for the most net yards - rushing and passing combined - in a Super Bowl game?
3. Which team holds the record for the fewest net yards - rushing and passing combined in a Super Bowl game?
4. Which player holds the record for the most rushing yards in a Super Bowl game?
5. Which team scored the most points in any Super Bowl game?
6. Which team scored the fewest points in any Super Bowl game?
7. Which team had the largest margin of victory in a Super Bowl game?
8. Which quarterback threw the most touchdown passes in a Super Bowl game?
9. Who holds the record for the longest punt return in a Super Bowl game?
10. Who holds the record for the most interceptions in a Super Bowl game?
11. Which quarterback threw for the most yards in a Super Bowl game?
12. Which team kicked the most field goals in a Super Bowl game?
13. Which player had the most fumbles in a Super Bowl game?
14. Which team had the most turnovers in a Super Bowl game?
15. Name the six teams that have never been in a Super Bowl.

I'm glad I missed the half-time show. From what I'm reading here, hearing fingernails on a chalkboard would have been better. :D
I will say I enjoyed the game. Yes, it was a bit slow, but it was interesting for 3 and a half quarters. I've seen much worse and seen much better.
Oh, and I agree the ads pretty much sucked. Only the FedEx one gave me chuckle. :D

Very strange game. I didn't think either team played well. Except for about 5 long plays, the Steelers couldn't move the ball on offense. Seattle had no trouble moving the ball, but were dismal in the red zone.. and didn't look like they'd ever heard of a 2 minute offense.
I've never believed anyone should blame officials for losing. Officials have always missed calls, and it's part of the game to play well enough to overcome those if they happen to go against your team. There were some questionable calls in this one that might have made a big difference. The review didn't appear to show Bettis scoring their first TD on 3rd down and the official initially marked him down short of the goal line and then changed his mind. The offensive interference against Jackson that nullified a TD and the holding call on the pass to the Steelers 1 yard line were both questionable at best. But Seattle has to be able to play well enough to overcome those things if they expect to win.

Pretty easy to rate this year's super bowl:
Pittsburgh --- C minus
Seattle ------ C with a multiple inopportune errors award
Seattle cheerleaders -- A minus -- they were just grateful to see something besides rain
Officiating ---- D --- you get paid to get it right
Commercials --- D --- Sure a lot of money for something as bad as the Pepsi/P Diddy commercial
National Anthem -- D minus ---- almost an insult to Motown
Half Time Show --- F --- once they were golden oldies, now they are just old

Unfortunately you did not get to see the Rolling Stones best performance. They were MUCH better in their final rehearsal. I volutneered to work the game and was on the field for the show and they were definitely better Friday night.
The Pre game show was the best of the three.(and I didn't enjoy it either)
But as a former kid from the Pittsburgh area, to be standing on the sidelines when the final gun sounded was AMAZING!
Poor game, GREAT time! I was standing on the sidelines with the Seatle cheerleaders right in front of me, blocking my view of the field in the best way:55!
I also got to be out on the field itself for post game.
Way too cool!

Being from the UK I don't have a clue who is going to win this year.
My team if I had one would be the Oakland Raiders only because a friend of mine went to live in LA for 6 months when we were about 10 and that was the team he supported.
Well from the choices in the poll it doesn't look like the Raiders are going to win it this year so I think I will go for the Bulls. Does Michael Jordan still play for them?? :D
Well it ain't going to be those sorry Broncos. I put my money on the Colts. If I had any.
