The day has turned out great so far! We won our competition, and by a pretty healthy margin too. Feedback was good...my section received special notes from one of the judges for our quality sound. Had a chance to sing with some of the best in our hobby.
Afterward, I got the chance to talk with someone very special, who means more to me than she may know...
All in all...a good Saturday indeed!

Woke up around 10, showered and jump in the convertible with my wife and the two dogs and drove down to Mystic, CT to walk around for a bit. Had a decent crabcake sandwich and fries then took the scenic route home by all the beaches and stopped for ice cream.

Laundry, house cleaning, and yard work... Very nice Sunday, not ready to go to work tomorrow. I think I need a vacation..... :whee:

Fellow flirters, friends and neighbors....MCat has just given her first successful hummer. I am so proud of myself I can't stand it.
I know, I know....to some of you this is old hat...but by god its a first for me. :dd
I need to thank all my friends here....especially the men for your words of encouragement. I couldn't have done it without you. :kk
I'm so glad to hear that, Loli! Good for you!! I'm glad we could help you out in some small way.
I never anticipated married life would be so much work, even when I was doing it for the second time! But it really is work, and one day you get to reap the rewards for all your efforts!!
We have strong shoulders for you to lean on, hun, but we also love a good celebration, and we're all cheering for you!!
Well me and my husband had a loooooooooong talk last nite. And everything is going to be o.k. He actually wants to fight for our marriage, something he has never done before. We are going to work things out. Thanks so much to everyone for all the love and support. I LOVE YOU GUYS!
That's wonderful, Con! Congratulations!! :55 The day has turned out great so far! We won our competition, and by a pretty healthy margin too. Feedback was good...my section received special notes from one of the judges for our quality sound. Had a chance to sing with some of the best in our hobby.

Oh Kissie, I'm so sorry to hear that. Perhaps you both just need some time apart to cool off and think about things. If it's a friendship worth saving, you'll mend things, but if you're better off, maybe you need to cry a little, then move on.
Whatever is going on, I'm here for you. *hug*
Today is a very sad day....ended a friendship that I thought would last forever!!!!
WOW!!! Atta girl, MC!! I'm impressed!! I bet Hank is too!!! ;)
I know how difficult it was for you, so I'm really proud of you for facing your personal obstacles and "soldiering" on!:D
I bet Hank is pretty damn pleased too!
Will he be posting a celebratory post too? Or is he too busy weeping tears of joy?

He will not be posting....he is in shock and I think paralyzed :D
I spent most of the day gardening, except for when my sister and brother-in-law dropped in for a visit. We all ended up having an impromptu picnic out on the deck, which was a lovely interruption in my day.
I hung out with my son tonight and watched a movie and snuggled.

Took today off for a couple of doctor appointments out of town.. After those two appointments, went and got new driving glasses.... Geez those were expensive, may have to take a second job to pay for eye glasses.... Then ran errands like a chicken with it's head cut off, here there and yonder... Drove 66 miles home for a T-Ball game, sat down with a Large Dr. Pepper, took a deep breath. Began to relax and watch the game and the clouds opened up and began pouring down rain.... Of course I was parked as far away as possible from the field,lol.... So when we got to the car we were all drenched... I just sat there finished my Dr. Pepper and laughed.... What a day........... Good to be home.... :whee:

i had a very rough day today, seems that everything went backwards at work.
one of my dear friends had to take her son into the ER today <he is 11 yrs old and a 3 yr brain tumor survivor> for sharp stabing pains in his head. it was nerve racking because they live on the other side of the states, i felt helpless waiting for the results. in the end all test results came back fine, but with the relief as we lay our heads down this evening, knowing that once again, his little brain is void of a tumor.
last night a coworker found out that his brother had passed away and was not holdin in together very well today as could be expected. he is fairly new and needs the money so had to be at work today. he can not afford to travel out of state for the funeral. it broke my heart to know that he would have to miss that chance of closure. i talked to my boss, the owner of the company, the company bought his plane ticket for him and gave him an advance on his paycheck so that he could be there.
to see the look of appreciation on his face and tears in his eyes when i told him we would pay for the plane tickets to sit down and give me the details where more than the thousands of thanks he gave.
it warms my heart when you know someone truely appreciates something without saying a word.
in looking back the rough part of the day was the emotional roller coaster that i was on today, and in the end, as we say because of my little friend when times get rough...atleast it wasn't a brain tumor.

Red we wish your freinds son and coworker a speedy recovery. This one of the most touching stories I have read on here. When I look back at my day and think how bad it was. In reallity my little daily issue really aple in comparison to lifes daily dealings. So anyone on the site that goes through a trying time I wish you the best. At some point in all of our lives we will need someone to lean on and I know tht I can come here and do so. So to anyone dealing tonight, you are in my prayers and wish you and yours the best.
Here's to Red, keep that head hi and remember we r here for you.

Today is a whole lot better than yesterday. Yesterday morning about this time, some guy ran a red light and smashed into the car next to me, which then slammed into my car. The perpetrator tried to make it sound like he had a green light, and everyone else ran the red light. But me, the guy next to me, and about a dozen eye witnesses told CHP the true story. No one was hurt, thank goodness.
Now comes all the after-accident hassle: dealing with the insurance companies, figuring out how I'm going to get around now that my car is totalled, getting another car, etc.
I could really use some hugs and kisses, and maybe a little more ;)

Day started rough...woke up in a melancholy mood...kinda mopey. As usual, M&F turned things around. First, had someone special snap me back to being myself in the early hours, then had someone catch me totally by surprise just before lunch...it's pretty amazing to have your world turned upside down so fast!
Now if I can only catch my breath! At this rate, I'll be floating 10 feet off the ground by dinner!!!!

Man ....that sounds more like a day I would have too! ;) :kk
My day started with making lunches for my kids for school, phone a friend, off to my PT for the day, over to a co-workers pickup that had a alternator go out and pull his batteries out and charge them so he can get home, look for some study material for a class tonight, and post some here......then off to pick kids up for earlier release from school, then into town to meet up with my wife for the evening.
This week is Laboratory Professionals week. So we have fun with it every year. Today the pathologists furnished a Chinese Luncheon for us. Was so very good.

W9 - know the joys of travel too well. Hope you're holding up OK.
Up at 4:30 this morning. At the airport for a 7:30 am flight to Orlando. All went perfect (I love Southwest Airlines!), met my crew for lunch. 1 pm meeting was rough - a couple of non-decision maker types trying to shoot holes in our product. Was able to deflect in every case so I survived. Going through flirting withdrawl big time. Back to the airport, connection in Baltimore (hoping a certain someone can track me down), then on to Hartford and home.
Just love these 3000 mile day trips!

Similar day for me confused...
Got up at 3:30am to go to JFK - out to Richmond for a 2 hour meeting and lunch - back to the airport, the only good thing was that in the airport bar I actually met a famous )female) sportscaster - she was cool. Then back into JFK - they kept us on the Tarmac for 2 1/2 hours! That was the pits! Then went to my car finally at 11pm at night and home after midnight...
Amen to those 3000 mile days... it is really tough to travel...
yelp seems like travel today regardless airplane, car or 18 wheeeler can be a pain in the arse

travel today is so bad - makes you want to stay home - or at least enjoy it when u do!!
I worked this morning, then volunteered at my son's school. I drove him to a playdate afterwards, then had a horrible arguement with him when I had to pick him up and he didn't want to leave.
I ended up putting him to bed with no supper and no story because of his behavior.
Now I feel awful...:(

OMG - it was the most AWESOME concert I have ever seen... talk about a hot concert... I have never been to one moreso! He is awesome... I definitely recommend going to his concerts when they are in your town. We went and picked up her truck at the dealer, after being fixed, and came home. She's ignoring me saying I'm cranky, which I am now because she has pissed me off but before that I was in great spirits. Terrible day! Couldn't get anyone in my company to do anything - had to send 'gentle' reminder e-mails all day... clients not calling back when u need them to... boss not keeping me in 'the loop' which really messes everything up...
Nothing went right today - except when I took a walk with my dog. Instead of pooping on the sidewalk - she told me she had to go by stopping, turning around and going to the woods to poop. THAT was pretty cool...

So, after a complete and hellish morning, my husband wakes me up and tells me to hurry up because we have an issue to deal with. My son has one of those prepaid cell phones....like the ones you buy for $20. So hubby tells me that he got a call from some guy wanting to know where Chante was. My son told him he had the wrong #. The guy told him it was the right # because he looked it up. Told my son that if he didn't tell him where this woman was that he was going to come kill him and he knows where he lives. So the guy calls back and my son gives my husband the phone. He asks for the same person and then tells my husband that he has a shotgun just waiting to be used. Of course the hubby flies completely off the deep end. I can't even repeat what he said. The caller finally hung up on my husband and now we're just waiting for the call back again......wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the WTF thread!

Long day is getting longer. Stuck at the airport. Flight is delayed. Haven't been here in a long while, so I thought I'd log in to say hi to you flirters: please, anyone here: go ahead, make my day!:wa:
I taught three classes this morning, then had lunch with a friend.
This afternoon, hubby and I took our son to see "Meet the Robinsons" since it was overcast and kind of dreary outside anyway.
Then when we got out of the threatre, it was warm and sunny and the three of us played basketball in the driveway.
That's a ruby day in my books!

If you get anymore threats you can call the cops and maybe they can track him down from the ppd phone somehow...other than that I would personally meet him at a neutral site and beat the crap out of him for threatening my family...but that's a knee jerk reaction...of course....better to meet him with the cops...he threatened to kill hubby...

A hostile takeover can create many problems for all employees involved and then many seem to go into Jeckyll / Hyde mode...I'm very familiar with that.
Isn't it great how as we get older we shed the label on our foreheads that tell ppl.."it's okay abuse me verbally..I'm a nice person and will understand you have issues!" I love the feeling of planting your feet firmly under you as you shake your head from side to side and know we are no longer going there....and it's amazing how those same ppl seem to back off from that moment on. Our tolerance level is only saved for children or pets...it seems because they need us.

A hostile takeover can create many problems for all employees involved and then many seem to go into Jeckyll / Hyde mode...I'm very familiar with that.
I suppose i wouldn't make a shrewd business woman simply because I can't treat people like shit, lie to them and then expect them to be grateful that they are still getting a paycheck.
For once in my professional career I found a place that valued its employees, it cared what they thought, it listened to them. It treated them very well, it was fair, and honest, it kept them informed, it involved them. It cared that we had a 98% patient satisfaction rate. Now that being said, how many people would give their entire hospital experience a positive 4.8 on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being excellent? I can answer that, not very many!
I'm not talking about one aspect, but the entire experience! The admissions process, the no wait in the ER and only being there for a total of 1.5 hours until they were promptly taken to a huge room where families were encouraged to stay, an extra bed was in every room and it didn't cost you a penny more. Even ICU patient's families were encouraged to stay in the room with no restrictions on visitors or hours. Meals were prepared by a gourmet chef, and delivered by room service when you ordered them. You called to order your meal from a menu. Your physician could use a computer that was in your room to show you a live video of your heart and the catheterization with stents or balloon. Your call light was answered within 1-2 minutes. You received your pain medicine in record time by a smiling friendly experienced nurse who had time to talk to you and get to know you.
The place looked more like the Hilton, not a hospital. It was emaculately clean. There was no fear of hospital acquired infections. The small 52 bed cardiac facility housed state of the art equipment from the computerized charting, the heart cath labs, and operating suites. The hospital was well on its way to Magnet status, less than 2% achieve this. It has been in the spotlight in many medical journals for its amazing universal bed concept.
If you were admitted with chest pain, the room that you were admitted to is the one you stayed in until discharge. Even if you needed open heart surgery, you would be immediately brought up from the OR to that same room. You would be recoved postoperatively by a specialized Heart nurse. That very same nurse might be the one taking care of you if you were a walking talking observation patient or if you were a very critically ill cardiac patient. You never changed rooms, the nurse changed in order to meet your needs. The nurse to patient ratio was unheard of. She didn't have so many patients that you never saw her. She knew your name, your wifes name, your girlfriend's name even when your wife didn't. She knew how you liked your coffee, she knew how many children you had and how many grandchildren too. Your hospital stay was far less than that of the standard hospital because of the diligent care you received.
The hospital staff was unbelievably courteous, they loved their jobs and it showed through in the care that they provided.
But, like Paul Harvey there is more to the story. This hospital was built by a group of cardiologist and cardiac surgeons who wanted better care for their patients. They invested their money and built this state of the art facility. there are only 3 completely digital hospitals in the world and this was one of them. Being physicians, they lacked a smart business sense. They allowed a huge medical entity to go in as a silent partner. That was their downfall. this facility was operating in the black after the first year and the physicians were beginning to see dividend checks. This large entity set their sights on acquiring this facility. The lawyers who wrote the initial partner contract were shrewed and sly. They put stipulations in the contract that the physicians never once thought would be their demise.
Any physician who left could not sell their shares unless they offered them to the medical entity first. This entity saw that after a few cardiologists relocated for family reasons, this put more work on the remaining docs. They had no way to entice other physicians because of the clauses in the contract. The business had gown so fast that the docs were working 90ish hours a week, night and day. With no fresh recruits, some of the docs saw no other way out.
This entity took advantage of those few docs who had left and offered them a huge profit margin. There were several physicians who were not investors that wanted to be. But, legally the shares were to be offered to the entity first. Not only that but they threatened to pull the main insurance contract of the city. The hospital would not receive any reimbursements and patients would have no choice but to go somewhere else. They threatened the remaining physicians that if they did not sell, they would be blackballed in the city. Many of the physicians fought this, but in the end the entity won and acquired ownership.
The CEO of this entity was hell bent on destroying this facility because the physicians had the nerve to go out on their own and that we had killed their cardiac business in town. It wasn't enough to force the buy out. They planned to move the business to their main campus. This campus is so large that employees get there 30-45 minutes early just to find a parking place. The wait in their ER for a chest pain patient is hours before they are even seen. Some of the surgeons refused to perform surgeries in their facility because it is filthy. Many, many letters and calls were made to city wide newpapers and television stations in the city spilling the truth about this entity's intentions and scandalous techniques. But, to no avail, nothing was ever said or written because they also control the media in this city. It was portrayed as a gloriously agreeable, peaceful transaction. That the employees and physicians were very positive. They never once saw the hall of shame, a wall dedicated to the support of the hospital with written messages by the employees begging and pleading not to sell.
Well the take over occured back in December. The hospital employees have had one meeting with this new group, thats it just one. They have done nothing but lie, they made promises and have not kept a single one of them. They didn't hear about the fight in the cath lab between a physician who didn't want to sell and one who sold out. All you heard was how pretty this whole thing was from the media which is so far from the truth.
And to pour salt into the wound, they recently held manditory sessions so that the nuns could shove the mission, vision, and values down our throat. Yep you guessed it, that medical entity is one of those Saint organizations!
Anyhooooo, I am thankful for my time and experiences at this facility. I doubt I will ever again see this kind of excellence in the medical field.:(

Day started excellent. Back at home in the office...always good to get off the road for a while. Some email cleanup and some offline time with someone who means alot to me. Ducked out to see my 6 year olds "Spring Sing" at school...very cute! Returned to have some things blow up...had my lead candidate for a job I'm hiring for pulled from me by their boss, and had a client say I promised about 10 things I know specifically I said we would not do. Thankfully, a very special friend kept me focused on the positive things in life, so I am in a very good mood right now...
HMMM sold one of my zero turn mowers to best freind and delivery it. Dain got out lawn service and selling all my equipment, just dont need 8 mowers anymore. Changed oil on my new pick up and chilling with yall folks

Today is the Kentucky Derby...watching millionaires row..seeing all the movie stars..just saw Gene Simmons and his two women...he always has on his arms...his wife and a girlfriend. News caster called the wrong woman his wife's name... I found that amusing, lol. Queen of England and her entourage is here as well..sipping mint juleps. Then I saw the famous Derby trumpet player and it reminded me of how my mother hired him to announce the entrace of me getting ready to walk down the isle at my wedding. Had the dream wedding..mom made sure I had the best of everything. That was a memorable moment...how many times in your life does someone announce your entrance quite like that? I had a really nice day today ... not only did I do some dancing to some 70s hits while getting my housework done, I spent the afternoon on the bank of a babbling brook deep in the middle of the woods, thinking. Just thinking! It was marvelous ... and even though I did not come to any earth-shattering revelations, it was a great way to spend some time.

Morning started early...7 am flight through Detroit and then on to Las Vegas. Second flight was pretty choppy...some pretty good storms moving through the Midwest and high winds in Nevada. Got in on time...picked up the rental...a black Mustang 2-door! Rolled down the windows with "Smack That" cranked up on the radio. As was great until I hit the strip...45 minutes to go 3.5 miles! Everyone is in town for the fight tonight...UGH! Managed to get to Bally's...checked in...and the room wasn't made up! Housekeeping got here quickly and fixed things up. Somehow I didn't mind, as I have been able to spend alot of time chatting with someone VERY special! Had a couple of other good friends touch base with me throughout the day...yes...I think it has been a pretty awesome day indeed!
I took my son to soccer, then onto the nursery where we bought them out of plants. The whole family spent the afternoon gardening. It was wonderful, working alongside my little boy, feeling the sun on my skin, smelling the fresh soil, seeing the garden being transformed slowly. A perfect way to spend the day!
I spent almost 3 hours in 2 bookstores with one of the world's most shy men.

She finally had to go, so stopped by the supplier exhibit...same boring suppliers they have had for the 20+ years I have worked this event. Went back to the room, rehearsed, then delivered the presentation. All went fine, I'll know the eval results in a month or so. Came back to the room, and spent the last few hours talking to the most amazing friend I could ever hope to have. Hope to catch her one more time before she has to rejoin the family at home tonight...

It's only been a half day so far here in Vegas. Got up early to chat with some awesome people. Got a quick phone call from my best friend...I needed it too. Had a customer call for work that was really ugly...stated I had told them things that our company cannot do. Many I specifically told them we could not provide, but they have developed selective hearing. Of course, "the customer is always right", especially when they talk at you and not with you.
Headed down to the conference and sat through some pretty boring workshops. Breaking for lunch now, and have to head back down in an hour or so...
Haven't been able to chat with my friend since this morning, I do miss her alot.
Things will be better later today...when I get the work day overwith...

Today has gone a little better than I expected. Gave the morning back to my family after being away so long. Got the garage door opener fixed, the lawn mower bagger fixed, the kids playhouses opened up for the spring, and a few other assorted yard projects done. Handled a call for work at noon with my boss and her boss...again went better than expected. My days go slow now, and most times I feel like my brain has leaked out of my ears. My everyday speaking to a small person who does not talk back, makes me feel like I'm going nuts!
Although, I have been having a good day today, my son played in his "cage" with the dog while I finished putting my new exhaust on my dodge, and we have done 3 loads of laundry. And if I can pry myself off the computer soon, I may make a bridle for my father inlaw, and maybe work with my stud horse for a bit.
I have no idea what I'm doing for dinner yet, and My chicken is laying an egg, I can hear her sqwaking.............
Glad I don't lay eggs, bet that hurts..........

Beautiful day here in the great Northeast. Had a cold for a week or so; went to the doctor and found that I have either a REALLY good case of bronchitis or a mild case of pneumonia..... Hmmm… Which is better… lol
WHAT a day huh????
