I can catagorically say I have been a complete and utter slob today! Yep! well apart form a run earlier, which if I hadn't of done, would now see me climbing the walls and driving everyone bonkers, yea anyway I digress ... my day was Slobbish! New word of the day...

Spent the entire morning getting ready for the Gay Pride Parade, I carried the company banner with two others and walked behind Mr Midwest Leather. He was in a convertable, sitting on the back ledge, wearing a black leather thong with his ass sticking out, just begging to be spanked! (It was a nice ass.)

Went to my best friends house for a party that he was having for the soccer teams he plays for. Ate mexican food and drank ALOT of margheritas and did some shots of tequila. Took a dip in the pool to sober up and just hung out a while to make sure I was good to go, after shutting myself off for the last 2 to 3 hours. It was a good day.

This day was bittersweet. I just flew home from what was probably the best vacation of my life!!! It was just a girl's trip for me and my best friend. So it's great to be back home to my husband, family, and friends here, but I would have loved another week or two of great times on the beach.
Glad to be able to say hello to all of you again though! :wa:

Well it was another week in hell but as of 7:28am I am offically on vacation for 12 days.
It started Sunday evening with 3 patients. Two were post heart attacks, who were both stable and doing fine with the exception that one was from Mexico and didnt' speak a lick of English. Before I could get anything done for those 2, my 3rd patient arrived from the heart cath lab. A 42 yr old man who appeared to be in good shape. He had been out mowing the yard, started having chest pain and went into cardiac arrest, had a huge heart attack. He arrived to me on a ventilator, decoricate posturing (bad sign of brain damage) having seizures, had a blood pressure of 190/140 with a 140 heart rate and runs of V-Tach(deadly rhythm). So it was me and 1 other critical care nurse amongst 5 non critical nurses. He couldn't help me much, because he had 4 patients and was helping other people. So here I am struggling with this new computer system, I had hell hooking up all of his invasive cardiac monitoring lines to the new monitor which I had never used. Basically it was a huge cluster fuck for a while. Eventually I got control of the situation, took forever to get things organized. After 8 hrs of being in his room without even a pee break, the other nurse came and watched him while I took a 15 minute break. The guy was unresponsive to pain, it was evident he had suffered an anoxic brain injury during the cardiac arrest even though his wife had performed CPR. It was really a sad ordeal.
He was young, only 4 yrs older than me(whew scary when ya think about it) you just never can tell who will end up FUBAR'd (fucked up beyond any repair) and who will regain some brain function. It is basically a waiting game.
So I have had this guy for 3 nights, tuesday morning he opened his eyes briefly for a blank stare. Tuesday night he would open his eyes with tactile stimulation for less than 10 second spands of time. By this morning he would arouse to any noise in the room, open his eyes and watch you, follow you, he would follow simple commands like squeeze my hands. The seizures had stopped, the huge amounts of cardiac medicines had been weaned off. The recovery time may be days, weeks, months and even a year or so before he recovers most or atleast some of what he lost.
I had a huge sense of pride and accomplishment because I knew he was going to make it out ok, not the same but alive atleast. I remembered why I loved my job. Something that I had forgotten during this whole mess of the hospital take over. I still hate that place with a passion but I knew when I left that I just needed to find a new home, a place that reminded me everyday why I love being a cardiac critical care nurse. I had filled out a transfer form to move back to the old building but for a new hospital. I didn't turn it in though, I hung on to it.... why I don't know. But, I had made the decision that it was time to leave.
One my way home I marveled at the miracle I had saw, thinking about this guy and what would become of him. I was 20 minutes from my house and my cell phone rang, I was in a dead area so I said I'll call you back. I called when I got home and well I guess the good lord figured I had suffered enough. It was a friend of mine telling me that the manager of the CVICU wanted me to work for her and had asked my friend to call me to see if I would be interested in the job. It was like the clouds parted and the heavens opened. I have been under so much stress, I've been so torn about leaving. I have so many wonderful friends, I didn't want to leave them but I just didn't know how much more I could stand. It felt like a huge weight had been lifted and I know where I am supposed to be. Jobs for Critical Care nurses are a dime a dozen, but it's tough to find a place where you can love your job.
So now I am off for 12 days for some well needed rest. But, the future is looking sooooooooooo much better! Yeah, I'm rambling, but it's a good day and now I see more of them in the days to come! Woooo Hooo! It's about time!:55

Thanks so much for sharing this Shiane....I loved reading it and think others will take something from it as well. Your profession is a very thankless profession as everyone is more concerned about their loved ones and their perfect care...but little thanks are given to those workers that always work short staffed and 12 hour shifts and little do they know all who are responsible for saving their loved ones life. The best thing of all though is your realization as to why you chose this profession...:55

I don't know why I chose this profession, sometimes I wish I hadn't, sometimes I wouldn't trade it for anything. Well bout 430am a calf got out from down the road and ended up at my bk yard fence, wich in turn drove my dogs wild. I figure if i was up might as well call the farmer to let him know bout his calf. Going thru dvds and cds then off to tulsa to get aload and go. Next time home it will b just me.

Many of us don't truly know why we chose the professions we are in and the obvious factor for most of us is to generate enough income to support a family and have our offspring not go through the poorer times, as many parents needed to endure in our younger years (even though more kids should experience that from time to time...if you know what I mean). It is a thrill for me to meet lifes challenges and to overcome them and working in a profession that others feel they cannot do...is a challenge for ourselves to step up and offer comfort for others and be proud of our accomplishments...even though we sometimes lose sight of it all due to the taxing mental and physical obstacles we need to overcome.
I envy you Shiane....:kk

Well......I just got done working a seven night run and I'm freakin exhausted! But, the hard work is now over and my hours should settle soon. The worst part was it was a full moon lastnight.....one of our employees colapsed at work and I stood in the rain for over ten minutes to make sure the ambulance got around to the back where he was located. I was drenched......and am happy to report that he came in later this morning and is ok now.....
I am looking forward to my night off tonight, but will have to mow my lawn and clean my house thoroughly because I have not had much time in the last three weeks......and yes, I do have a husband here.....but will still have to do everything or it will not get done, as it has not while I have been working my ass off........:nu

Flew into Gatwick airport today from Spain. Weather is rain and more rain. What is England going to do with all this extra water??? Swamp land? I see the police in London have stopped a car bomb from going off. That is good. Watching a bit of tennis and now my FIL wants to watch Countdown. So changing channels. Tonight I will probably phone my Dad and then go involve myself in a good book. Making a cottage mash for supper. Thats about all.
A funny thing happened when I went to pick up my friend's son to bring him over for a playdate with my son...
She was at work, so her husband answered the door when I knocked. We stood there and talked for a few minutes, and while we were talking, he kept looking at my breasts. I'm wearing a low cut tank top today, so the girls are nicely displayed, but apparently I didn't anticipate what effect they would have! He was getting hard while we were talking! He started shifting his weight, stealing glances at my chest, then shifting again! I could see his erection trying to poke through his pants, and I think he knew I knew. I almost started giggling!
Then I got naughty and stretched my arms back behind my back, arched my back and gave him a peek at my cleavage. :D
That was fun.

I think even I would have even liked to have been a fly on the wall to see his reaction to you :D
My story isn't near as good as yours, but certainly made me smile... I was talking to one of the guys at work, and was still speaking to him as I began to walk away so I tuned my head a bit towards him, and out of the corner of my eye I see he's looking at my ass. He quickly looked up at me as I stopped and turned around just a tad more, the look in his eyes was priceless! I've noticed him do the same before, but this was the first time that I allowed him to be aware that I knew he was looking! I really think I embarassed the boy though :D

Mine consisted of fixing my car (finally). Sitting my grand niece and nephews Saturday and Sunday. Cooked up a bunch of food for the week to come. By and large, nothing special, just busy! Oh, yeah and a bunch of yard work at the wrong time of day! Got a nasty sunburn to prove it, and to remind me to wear a shirt next time! (whoops!)

1. Hubby doesn't understand the idea of a separation. Now he wants to do things together.

3. Wanted to talk to a friend, but he doesn't feel like chatting.
4. Can't get onto hotmail email, the computer says; the security certificate for this site has been revoked. This site should not be trusted.

Thursday I might paint my bedroom...

Fabulous, just fabulous! I really needed a break from work!
I have to work this afternoon but I will be starting a new job soon. I got a call from a friend at another hospital, her manager asked if I might be interested in working there. So last thursday I called a staffing agency filled out all the stuff and now I just have to put in for a transfer at my current job to go back to the old hospital. I only plan on staying there as ECB, (emergency call basis) but I won't lose any of my seniority while I work at the other place. If I like it, I won't go back.
This worked out really well. By going through the agency I actually get 8 more dollars/hr but I get an additional 4,900.00 over the next 3 months tax free for housing, travel, and gas. The best part is that I will be working with the CV surgeons that were at my old hospital.
I know my current manager will not be happy, because I am one of the 3 experienced open heart nurses left on nights lol oh well. So for me things are looking brighter.
I spent the past 12 days at the lake and yes it rained A LOT! It has rained 18 out of the past 21 days here. One night we got 6 inches of rain. The fishing sucked, it was cloudy, the water level was up and down, it was humid. But it was great! We fished a bit, went swimming, chilled out under the AC watched a few movies, took naps, played monoploly and cards with the kids, went out boating got very wet lol. Oh and found a stray dog, a basset hound lol. The girls named him Flash, which is so not the case. He moves at a snail's pace, he sleeps during the day and howls at night. So now we have yet another dog ummmmmm he makes number 6 lol. Oh well I couldn't break my kid's hearts and I couldn't just leave him there not knowing that someone would take care of him.
We had a big fish fry Saturday night for my mom and dad. He retired June 29th and June 30th was their 45th Anniversary. We invited a lot of family and friends. They were so surprised, my mom cried.
So anyhoo thats what I've been up to for the past couple of weeks. But, it is good to be home!

Typical day here.....got home from work this morning, played here for a while, went to sleep, woke up and started getting ready for another long night at work.
How did my night go? Now this is another animal entirely. Went to work as usual. Get there and find out that there is no overtime. I have to leave 1 1/2 hours after I get there because I already am 6+ hours over for the week. Was kind of pissed because they waited until tonight to tell us and I had a lot of work to do.
Got home, walked in and hubby said...."Wow, you're home early!" I told him yeah and sorry I ruined his night. He asked a few minutes later how I ruined his night and I said...."...because as soon as you saw me walk up you had this 'oh shit!' look on your face and scurried to clear the screen on the computer." He still has not rebuddled and that just tells me I was right. Now he is playing Xbox...( big shock!!) and he is pissy and sounding disappointed. He can't talk to his "friends" now thre way he would like to and has to keep his Xbox conversations "clean". I feel bad....I really do.....:nu

Ok, so my day started at 9:30pm lastnight as I arrived for work. Was walking to the front door and heard a call come from my walkie. They needed a mgr. to the front immediately. So, I waited for a moment to see who would respond, as I was not on the clock yet, then walked in. I walked slowly in front of the desk and an associate came from behind to tell me what the issue was. I thought it may have been an irate customer or something. Boy, was I ever wrong! Turns out there had been a homeless man washing himself up at the restroom sinks. No big deal right? Wrong.....while he washed himself up, he also decided to strip down completely naked. Customers would walk in and see this as well. That is one of our busiest times of day. So, by the time I got outside he had already gone.......
We were pretty much screwed for the night, staffing wise. But, all in all, the night went fairly well. Was wrapping up some work this morning when this man walked by me. He stopped and stared for a moment, and then told me that I didn't work there. I said I did and he told me he would be back. I watched him walk around the corner and then come back and immediately approach me again. This time, he was very close to me.....almost touching. He was standing behind me and hovering over my shoulder. He told me that I didn't want my job. I told him that I kind of needed it. Then, by the grace, my friend and comanager happened to see him standing on top of me and called me away. He knew something didn't look right. I went to other mgnt. and told them that if that man cornered me again to make him leave. So, I began to walk away to finish my project and the man follows me again. He gives me his # and sais that he cleans office building at night and I could make soo much more money with him, than at my job....then told me to call him. Do you think it is a coinsidence that his name was Randy?

Penny if you like sports cars and need all wheel drive try the Subaru Turbo charged Legacy or WRX and if you get the Legacy GT turbo it comes with a 250 HP engine 0-60 in less then 6 seconds. Mine factory set @160 top speed (But that can be altered :-)
Then
talk to the dealer and have them put the car on the computer and get extra HP out of the Porsche Boxer engine and a little tinkering with the transmission to take the added torque.
The automatic transmission can also be used as manual either stick or use the buttons on the steering wheel.
Cheap toy, very safe and fun to drive and amazing on curves and straightaway and does not skid like the Mustang or Mercedes ( this car put my 560 SEL to shame in handling) and about 1/4 the price

My day is starting off just fine. My night? Well, now that's a different story entirely. Got to work and spent the first hour dealing with an irate and downright ignorant customer. She was just cruel with the comments that she was dishing out to one of my associates. I almost kicked her out of the store and if it were up to me it would have happened. She kept on threatening to call the police. I thought..." Oh please?!?!? They love us here!!!" Her skanky ass would have been hauled away in a second........
Then we have this really bad neighborhood behind us there. There are the occassional gagng of kids who come in and steal and tear up the store. Well, they decided to visit lastnight....all 15 of them. They all split up, and with two managers on the floor ( me being one of the two ) it is near impossible to keep track of them all. So, a call to the local PD it was......gotta love intimidation.....
Then, early this morning....and we were expecting regional visitors mind you.....an associate got "hurt". I say this because she walked into a piece of equipment and then claimed to have had her foot run over by it. The associate with the equipment said that it never even touched her. Earlier than this she was pulled into the office for some MUCH NEEDED and OVERDUE discipline. She had made the comment that she was gonna "snap on someone". Then after she was "injured" she told another manager of lower ranks that she was going to "just sue the shit out of this store" because we had pissed her off for the last time. She also refused to go to the hospital...standard procedure.....and insisted on going to her Dr. later that day. What a coinkidink! So, after dealing with her and writing and collecting statements, 4 hours later I got to go home.........:whee:

I know! Sometimes they are the worst! And in the mean time she's lying and trying to not do her job. What would God think about that?
I once had a lady tell me: "You are not my mother, and you are not my God, and I am grown. You can't tell me what to do".
I told her I WAS her boss and I could tell her what to do. Wrote her up, didn't back down when she challenged me. She eventually quit- but after a ton of headaches. Those are the people that drive me to drink.

Finally told dad about the plans for divorce. I know he understands. His girlfriend.....she's sooo nice. I love her. I know they understand, but it was hard to look them in the eyes when I tell them this. There's a certain shame in telling. We have always been looked to as the ideal couple.....the one's who did it right and were going to last. I think that's why the hubby allowed me, or forced me, to be the one to end things. Hun...this marriage is dead in the water...has been for a few years now....am just waiting to tell him...seems he hasn't noticed....or perhaps doesn't want to be the one to say anything...whatever, it's gonna be done one way or another...
What has kept you in it so long?
Inertia?
Fear?
Kids?

Poor thing... I was just at Amaretto's looking for my dance partner... now lets get moving, and stop saying you are tired... who are you kidding??
I'm sorry to hear about your wife, Bryan. It's a tough job being the caregiver, isn't it? Who takes care of the caregiver?!
Hope you get some time to yourself sometimes to refuel.

Yesterday was actually a good day here. We took my son to the Zoo. We have a great zoo here...lots to see and do. We took pictures of the animals and had a great time.....despite the 100 degree weather.:whee:
We then went to a friend's house. She lives two houses down from the family home that burned down two months ago. My son wanted to see the house. So, we drove by slowly....looking at the damage. He didn't say much, but I think it is better to be honest about things than try and hide the harsh truths from my son. He is a very grounded child and has seen his share of tragedy in his short lifetime. He is a wonderfully understanding boy.
Then we went to Ted Drew's Frozen Custard...the BEST in MO...hands down! Ate in the parking lot......I love their Hot Fudge Sundaes!! Headed back home after and had a few drinks.....had a wonderful conversation before heading to bed.....
All in all, was a great Sunday........

My day consisted of going downtown for a job interview, and ended up in a wet-t-shirt contest because of the muck and humidity. It will probably end with me going home, alone...what else is new, huh?

Do whatever you have to in order to make that gal of yours feel better Bryan.....and realize how she would do the same if the roles were reversed. Pick your spots to avoid burn out and be there for her and let her see you smile. The joy of watching her improve would be better than any other reward for me. Back pain or surgery is a terrible pain to deal with as I'm sure most of us know.
I hope she gets on the road to recovery soon.....as you may be able to shorten the long haul with your mental support as well. :55 :55

For me, today was very productive, and fun! I enjoyed my kids, got several things done, hung out with friends, and spent some great time chatting with my soulmate.
