I saved my pennies and ordered a K-Tel album off TV!!!! The main reason was for the song "Kung Fu Fighting". :)

I grew up with my grandparents for the most part...I may be the only person my age who knows what a 78rpm record looks like and I used to play my mom's 45 of "The Great Pretender" by The Platters all the time...is that close enough? :))):

That's plenty close. I'm not sure I owned any of their records, but I do remember them. I didn't collect, but my older brother had a large collection of 78's and I'd bet that he had some.

Of course, if I tell my kids that they're sounding like a broken record, they ask, "What's a record?"

My cousin's daughter is 14 this year...she loves to ask her mother if she has any 8-track tapes or vinyl albums because she "wants to see what you did for music in the old days." :lmao

We had some 78's that belonged to my dad when he was a kid.. one called "Black Denim Trousers" which was hilarious. I could sing it now..

Also.. we had some good 8 track tapes with 50's songs on them.. one which was all classic Burt Bacharach, which is why I still sing when I hear muzak today..
