With Halloween around the corner I want to hear some real life scary stories. Tell us about things that happened to you or people you know.

I have one, that happened to me...

Right after I married my hubby, he was given orders in Virginia, and we moved into base housing. Our house was a duplex, but the other half of it was empty when we moved in.

The first night, we wake up in the middle of the night and can hear a baby SCREAMING on the other side of the wall of the master bedroom... it was sooo loud! We knew the other side was supposed to be empty, so we walked around outside to look into the windows... every room was empty, and most were clearly visible from the streetlights, and no blinds.

While we are outside, the crying stops. We go back to bed, listening and waiting... both of us are a little creeped out.

I can't stop thinking about it, so I call the mp's to report it, and have them come and search the house, and check the locks. Everything is fine, and obviously had not been entered in a while. The hard wood floors were covered in undisturbed dust... the only footprints were ours as we searched the house.

I'm feeling pretty damn crazy at this point, but hubby had heard it too, so I knew it really happened.

The crying continued randomly... once or twice a week. It was horrible... the screams were so loud, and sounded like a newborn in pain. Every instinct in my body wanted to find that baby. We kept calling the mp's about it, but every time they would come, the house would be empty, and after the 3rd time, I was too embarassed to call.

We moved off base after about a month. Creeps me out to think about it.

See...that's a perfect example of the deteriorating condition of the underworld. Ghost parents are just unfit to have children these days.

So sorry you had to go through that.

Uh, just so you know. The inhabitants of the "spirit world" don't take kindly to it being called the "underworld" any longer. "Underworld" implies an inferiority to the material world. "Ethereal Americans, " as they like to be called have worked long and hard to try to rid themselves of the stigma of simply being "dead people" caught between two worlds and I doubt they'd appreciate your draconian thinking.

Ok, bone-head....

....i respect your position as the representative for the decaying fleshes of prior existences. I'll try to be more respectful next time.

That's really creepy!

Anyone else have any ghost stories? I love that kind of stuff.
