She Did Not Know

She did not know the words would seal her fate.
They came, all wrapped in shiny silver bells.
There never came the thought: she could escape;
The words all seemed to tangle in themselves.

She did not hear the emperor explode,
Or press the flotsam closer to her heart.
If what was left was so intense it showed,
Verbosity had strangled muse-less art.

The sun came up the way it always does.

Novels and Authors

I am writing this because I wanted to give a much lengthier explanation than I could in a post or wall message.

I have several authors I have really enjoyed reading over the years. I mean to the point if exhausting or nearly so the authorís published works. For the 20th century I have two: Jack London and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Coincidentally enough both succumbed to alcoholism and passed away in their 40s which now seems way too young. Yet they both wrote a lot. My favorite London...

Thanksgiving & Halloween

Our Thanksgiving in the states is coming up next month. I was just thinking about it, and as usual, my mind went on a trip. Sometimes, it takes me along and sometimes it goes all by itself.

Halloween comes first, of course, at the end of this month. I gotta say, I think I prefer it to Thanksgiving. And Christmas. And New YearísÖ

A Beautiful Memory

We were in Paris often during the last millennium. I had conquered my reluctance in attempting to own part of the rich heritage of another country and purchased a flat.

It had been a private residence chopped into apartments by a fabulous architect with phenomenal ideas. Itís near the Place de Victories in the 2nd arrondissement. Because of the ceiling height of 14 feet, the rooms appear and actually feel larger than they are. There were two bedrooms Ė one so small it really served

Silky raven strands, shoulder long and thick.
Eyes like pools of ink destroy barriers.
His voice repeats the words, an ancient flick
Of recognition, haunting carriers;
The ancestors will always call him home.
There is no way to sacrifice that claim.
But now, he wonít be leaving me alone.
